Summary:
Oakdale Townhomes are located in the quaint town of Grand Bay, AL. At this newly renovated vacation rental, you’re only 30 minutes away from the white sandy beaches of Dauphin Island, 25 minutes south of the city of Mobile and 40 minutes east of Biloxi, MS. (If you have time, take a day trip to New Orleans, which is only an hour and 45 minutes away!).

We hope you enjoy your stay at Oakdale Townhomes and are able to get out and explore the beautiful Gulf Coast duringyour visit!

The Space:
In 2018, this 8-unit building underwent a complete renovation where it was stripped down to its bones and redesigned with modern finishes and decor. Each townhome was fully refinished with new stainless steel appliances, granite countertops and a fully stocked kitchen. Two bright and airy bedrooms and one full bathroom are located upstairs, and one half bathroom is located off the kitchen downstairs.

A small patio off the back of the townhome gives guests a nice outdoor space to grill, lounge and enjoy the spacious backyard.

Guest Access:
This unit is the fourth townhome from the left of the building. Guests have access to a private patio area with a grill, outdoor table and chairs. Parking is available directly in front of the unit. There is plenty of green space to walk your leashed dog in the front of the building and in the backyard.

The Neighborhood:
Grand Bay, known as the watermelon capital of Alabama, is a small farming community centrally located to many popular Gulf Coast attractions. It is home to the Grand Bay Watermelon Festival held every year on The Fourth of July when the town gathers to celebrate the South’s best-tasting watermelon. Fresh Grand Bay-grown watermelon is served by the slice, and the Watermelon Festival Queen is crowned during the beauty contest. There is also live music and small fair rides for the kids.

There are several local eateries in Grand Bay, including hometown favorite Sams Super Burger that serves American classics, and Kitchen of the Sea, the local food truck that’s often parked in the center of town serving the freshest seafood.

Dauphin Island is a small island situated just off the the beautiful Alabama Gulf Coast. Tourists, snow birds and families flock to Dauphin Island year-round for the miles of beaches, the fresh Gulf Coast seafood and world-class deep sea fishing. the Dauphin Island Fishing Rodeo during July brings more than 75,000 spectators to the island for a weekend of fun and sports fishing.

Mobile hosts many events throughout the year, but none compare to Mardi Gras celebrated every spring when tens of thousands join together all around the city for parades, masquerade balls and other fun events surrounding this Southern celebration.

Downtown Mobile has many different attractions that may interest families and tourists, including the USS Alabama battleship docked in Mobile Bay, and Fort Conde, an 18th century fort built by the French during the colonial period. (Both are available to tour.) While you’re exploring downtown, be sure to take a stroll down Dauphin Street to see the old historic buildings of Mobile, many of which are now restaurants featuring the finest Gulf Coast cuisine.

Getting Around:
There is no public transportation in Grand Bay, but the townhomes are located located less than a two-minute drive to grocery stores, pharmacies and gas stations.

Other Things to Note:
Pets: No cats allowed! Dogs are allowed with a $100 fee per dog. There is a maximum of two dogs no larger than 75 pounds each. The host contacted me in plenty of time stating they overbooked for this location and offered me to stay at one of their other locations. And everything worked out perfectly, we were able to stay on the island with morebath rooms which is always a plus!plus!

I had been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer a few months prior. Finally feeling good, I brought 2 of my sons down to do some crabbing. The property was perfect for our little get away. Close enough to Mobile and Bayou LaBatre. The crabbing was great as well. They caught over 100 blue crab in 2 days. We will definitely be back. We were just talking about it yesterday.

Needed better cleaning, was done in rush. Property needs fixing in smaller details. Quiet and respectful neighbors. Would recommend after proper work is done.

Just to start off this was the first time i have stayed where everything was there! First impressions say a lot, when I opened the front door and walked in it was just like walking into a new house. The look, and smell was new Of course it wasn't but the impression was there. The kitchen was clean, cabinets and drawer's were full of Clean pots, pans, plates, glasses and silverware. Plenty of dishwashing soaps for the sink and dishwasher also. Bathrooms clean full of BIG THICK towel's, bath cloths. Living room was just as nice. Both bedrooms had very comfortable mattresses' so good that when we got home i told my wife we had to get a new one lol. The town of Grand Bay was nice and quite like the town i live in. We drove over to Dauphin Island each day for the beach, it was about a 35 min drive which was a little further than i would have liked but was a easy drive with little or no traffic. The beach on the island was nice with no crowds at all which was nice for sure. When you get to Grand Bay and need groceries' go to Greer's right there in Grand Bay, great little store that is a lot bigger when you get inside, it has everything you need and cheaper than home! Overall great stay and will be going back.

This was a great place. Very quiet and clean and we really enjoyed our down time after being on road for two days. Had everything we needed to cook dinner and get a good night’s test! Thanks again and we will be back!! Kristie

The apartment was clean and well maintained. The kitchen was pretty well stocked -- just missing pans for baking in the oven. The beds were comfortable but there was NO king bed, even though that was listed in the description. Big disappointment! The walls were a bit thin, so the quiet hours were very necessary -- and mostly kept by the neighbors. The train was louder / closer than we'd expected. I didn't really notice it after the first time, but the others did.
