Built in the 1920s, this Historic home in charming downtown Hurricane Utah is just a short drive to Zion National Park. This unit offers a glimpse of a by-gone era of early struggles and adventure. This home has been updated into a modern vacation home experience and features 2 bedrooms, full kitchen, full bath and living room all tastefully updated and decorated to help you enjoy your stay. At the back of the building is a large covered patio with BBQ, picnic table and hot tub (shared)

We stay out of your way while your vacationing here, but we are around if you need us. We are a source of information and are happy to help with any issues that may come up during your stay.

You`ll have access to the entire downstairs of the home, as well as the hot tub and backyard deck area. This may or may not be shared depending on if guests booked the upstairs unit.

Due to its age, there are unique characteristics that one should be mindful of - first is the home was built when electricity was considered a luxury and was not common in So. Utah. This home was also designed and built before the concept of indoor plumbing. Modifications to add outlets, adjust walls for a modern bathroom working with the building materials and construction techniques of that era do make for some challenges. The homes location on the lot also is unique in that it is not set back from the road by 20-25 feet. The home has never moved, but as the community grew and needs of modern transportation changed, the roads have encroached on it. But this is the charm and experience this property offers.

This home has its roots in early polygamy history of the area as well as a farmhouse and early 'garage' for model A's and T's as the automobile made its way west. As the city and area grew its been a retail store front on the highway on your way to Zion National Park. Its last commercial venture was as an old army surplus and camping gear store. In recent history before the current owners bought it this property was painted a bright yellow and blue and was known as the 'sunshine' home. Today we've updated it as best we can without compromising its character. We added a fire suppression system and integrated smoke detection systems, we've added a modern laundry facility and a shared hot tub to relax in after hiking or biking.

Master Room: King Bed, blackout shades, soft lighting and great privacy. Shares the bath (located just off the kitchen) Sleeps 1-2 people

Guest Room (Bunk Room): The bunk bed is a QUEEN on the bottom and a FULL on the top. This room has its own TV and is designed to be a retreat for the kids or can serve as a room for a second adult couple.) Bathroom is shared - just outside in the hall. Sleeps 1-3 people.

Common Space

The property has a separate one bedroom suite (rented separately) that shares common area space. In this space is the laundry facility as well as game room and hot tub deck and bbq grill/picnic table.

IMPORTANT NOTES & ADVISORY:

This unit you are looking at is part of a DUPLEX concept and is located in a micro-resort known as Pass Port Village. The resort currently consists of 2 separate duplex type buildings. Located in the front is a pioneer home, consisting of 2 units. The lower unit is the Roost, and the upper is the Crows Nest. Each unit is 100% private from the other. Seperate entrances, private bathrooms etc. The second building, located to the rear is a new duplex, with ample parking between the buildings. The lower unit is the On the Rocks listing and the upper unit is known as the Silver Reef listing. We are starting a project to the south, where a shared community pool and 2 additional duplex units will be built as well as a restoration on an existing building into a pool house.

Planning a family reunion or traveling with a larger group Check out our listing Passport Resort for a combined, unforgettable experience!

We are doing all we can to advise guests, in advance, about this property. We are amazed at how many people do not read the full description of a property before booking, then to read their reviews reflecting their amazement at how they point out all the items we addressed in the listing that they could experience - then we take a beating in our reviews. PLEASE READ THE LISTING before booking, then read the reviews and you will see MANY PEOPLE have come and had great experiences and appreciated this unit for what it is, and have not given low rates for what it is not. We value and love feedback on how we can deliver an experience for you and your group. Travel safe and enjoy your stay at the Roost!

All was good, except the animal hair on the carpet and beds. Cleaning team needs to improve there!

Beautiful place. Nice and clean. 30 minutes drive to Zion National Park south entrance. And 45 minutes drive to Utah Adventure Center for our Via Ferrata. Very close to grocery and gas station. Place is well kept. Needs more electrical outlet though or at least extension cords and maybe a mirror in the smaller room. Highly recommended. Would stay here again. Can accommodate up to 8 people.

It’s only a place to rest your head, that’s it. Owner was only responsive until it was time to get real with the details on how they fell short. I think they didn’t want to accept the responsibility of charging a cleaning fee and not cleaning. The apartment was truly dirty and not up to standard and my stands aren’t high. The rug in the living room smelled like nothing I’ve ever smelt and my friends were itching the morning after sleeping in the beds. Aside from the dirty first impression, when we came back from dinner, there was a horrible distinctive smell and owner chose to ignore other than telling me to run the water and see if that helps. Sometimes cheap is not always worth it so just spend the extra bucks. Seriously y’all,10/10 would not recommend!!!

Hurricane was a great town to stay in with many conveniences and fantastic restaurants. We enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub and playing games each evening at the house!

The owners have decorated cute - trying to keep it modern in look and feel. However in its current state, this property needs some serious TLC. The pull out couch was broken (the bed was touching the floor and you couldn't really sit on the couch because the cushions sunk down into where the bed should be holding you up), there was a missing lightbulb in the living room lamp, the smoke alarm was hanging from the sealing in one bedroom, one bedroom door was falling out of the door post - so you couldn't close the door, the mirror in the bathroom is mounted for someone who is 6 feet tall and to the left of the sink, the microwave is on top of the fridge plugged into an extension cord, and the heating was really off - one room was hot, the other was cold and there are strict rules on how hot/cold you can keep the temperature. The location was pretty clean - but the sheets and bedding seem super old and thin and there is zero counter space in the kitchen area. Oh, and the internet was not good. It ended up being a decent stay - and the person I talked to about all of the issues above was nice - but they didn't offer to comp our stay or anything, which was a little frustrating. Not sure I'd choose to stay here again.

We really enjoyed the house and location in Hurricane for exploring Zion and the area. The house was easy to find and nice layout for us - we cooked and ate at the bar area, watched movies. Plenty of space for us although if you had a full house, just having the one small bathroom would probably be tight. Perfect location and access to the laundry facilities 2 blocks away.
