The Neighborhood:

Mt. Washington is an old-school Italian neighborhood, well kept, very authentic, great gelato available in summer time, mix of both nice bars/restaurants that are a little bit touristy (those on Grandview Ave), and old neighborhood favorites where you can hear locals debate the best way from dahntahn back up to Mt. Warshington (yes, the true Pittsburgh accent is still very much alive - remember, Pittsburgh has been called both the Paris of Appalachia due to it being the cultural capital of the area and the Galapagos Islands of linguistics because trust me, yinz've never heard anything like the local dialect). Every Saturday night (around midnight - 3AM), Pittsburgh's Swing City offers public swing dancing and great music on the Grandview lookout in front of St. Mary of the Mount!

- ~3 minute walk to Monongahela Incline

- ~7 minute Uber to Fort Pitt Museum

- ~8 Minute Uber or Incline to Station Square, South Shore shopping, restaurants, entertainment!

- ~8 minute Uber Heinz Field and Stadiums!

- ~10 minute Uber to Andy Warhol Museum

- take Monongahela Incline to Station Square and Gateway Clipper river boat to Pirates' or Steelers' game for a memorable trip

Getting Around:

One short block from Monongahela Incline (image search online, it is VERY unique to Pittsburgh). Can ride the incline down to Station Square T stop (Pittsburgh's subway system) and are a couple of stops from the ballparks or PPG Paints Arena (or on foot it's a very pleasant 20 minute walk across downtown with two bridges providing EPIC photo ops of the city and the stadiums). Uber and Lyft also work great from this location.

Other Things to Note:

It's a great apartment, great location and within a building with a great history (over 100 years old, the building used to be an Italian Social Club and boarding house). Easy access to Station Square, down-town Pittsburgh, David Lawrence Convention Center and even the fields (Heinz Stadium, PNC Park, Consol Energy Center) are a ~20 minute walk or a couple of stops on the T (Pittsburgh's subway system) from Station Square.

Holly was a great host, promplty responded to all my inquiries, did a great job of communicating and provided all the details I needed. The accommodations were clean and organized, and a great location with a view, walking distance to several establishments.

fun location on Mt Washington near the Summit pub. Home was nice, up four flights of stairs. The street parking was ample and right out front of the unit. Bathroom was upgraded and beds were comfortable. The unit had box fans and a ceiling fan to help circulate the air. The temperature was warm this weekend 88 and the AC had a hard time keeping up. Fortunately the nights were in the 60's. The AC or venting is inadequate for this unit. Location is great a couple of blocks from the grocery store and quick exit to leave the mountain. Beautiful location but it is one of the more hilly neighborhoods I have walked. Visit the church and the farmers market on Wednesday beautiful. Close to the city, the museums, and zoo (fantastic). I had issues with the parking app and the owner was super responsive and resolved our registration challenges.

Holly is friendly and responsive. You have to purchase a parking pass if you have a car. But that’s not a big deal.

We were in town for my daughter's cheer competition at the convention center. I chose to stay on Mount Washington because I wanted to share the view with my family, as I used to live in Pittsburgh. Holly was a wonderful host. Answered any questions quickly. Paronce you park, restaurant

The apartment was really nice and in a cool neighborhood. We loved taking the incline down into the city. Near the apartment were great restaurants and views of Pittsburgh. The apartment boasted a great view as well. We had an issue with our AC, but the owner was really communicative about it and said she would refund one of our nights. A great place to stay.
