The Jefferson Chalmers Historic Business District is a historic district located on East Jefferson Avenue between Eastlawn Street and Alter Road in Detroit, Michigan. Jefferson Chalmers on the east side boasts more than 160 acres of waterfront parks, boat launches, fishing access and outdoor recreation opportunities. The canal communities of Harbor Island, Klenk Island and Fox Creek are well-kept, one of the city’s hidden gems. Once a smuggling route for bootleggers during Prohibition, the islands are perfect for kayaking, boating and fishing. Housing ranges from modest ranch houses to stunning three-story mansions. The neighborhood not only offers old charm such as 100-year-old brick streets but also opportunities for growth. In recent years Jefferson Chalmers has been recognized for innovative economic development strategies such as pop-up businesses along Jefferson Avenue and historic apartment renovations. The district is the only continuously intact commercial district remaining along East Jefferson Avenue, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

Dedicated parking is in the rear of the property. Please park in one of the spots outside the Garage. Additional parking is available on the street.

PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE DRIVEWAY and block other guests in.

Neighborhood is walkable, with pubs and restaurants nearby. 10 minutes from downtown, 5 minutes from Belle isle and 2 blocks from lake St. Claire.

6 of us stayed for a concert at little caesar’s arena. the house was very very nice and clean with many amenities . however, it’s no where near bars, restaurants or eateries that are within a safe walking distance. It’s honestly quite desolate. We did Uber into the city. I would recommend if your looking for a place to stay overnight for a quick trip
