The Nest: Beautiful Apartment Style Lodging In The Heart Of Downtown Decorah.

Loved this beautiful Nest!!! Absolutely great location, accommodations and amenities. Hope to return. Guests need to be aware of ability needed for stairs leading to Unit and that beds include a great master kin-sized bed and 2 bunk beds. Easily accommodates 4.

Had a tiny problem checking in. She answered in the first ring and fixed the problem. Always a nice place to stay.

This is a perfect little spot to enjoy all that Decorah and the surrounding area has to offer. It was just like home the minute we stepped in. There are stairs to go up to the apartment, from street side and alley side so be prepared for that. The parking spot in the back is an added bonus!

Excellent quick weekend getaway at the Nest. Fun place located in an excellent part of downtown Decorah. It was nice to have the parking space reserved for our stay.

The Nest was a cute little place to stay. Very wonderful concept, little short on the execution of fine details. One thing that would have been nice to know before booking the property is that the apartment is up a flight of very steep stairs. We did not find this out until less than 48 hours before our arrival. My husband has had leg surgery and we would not have picked this property had we known it would be so difficult for him to get to. Air conditioning did not work well and did not keep the humidity down - and we were visiting Iowa during a week where the high temperatures were only 74 degrees. There was no direction about what to do with trash as the cans became full. No direction on what was expected at checkout - do we have to launder the towels, wash the dishes, etc?

I really enjoyed staying here. The location was downtown, so walking distance to shops and restaurants. The living room/kitchen area was big and open. We liked the windowsill reading nook. The whole place had a unique and cool vibe. Definitely want to stay again.

Great little downtown apartment. Good location for walking around downtown. A little tricky to find the parking, but a good parking spot, fit my large SUV well. The apartment was a little dirty, AC/heat vents looked moldy, windows and mirrors dirty, shower curtain and soap/shampoo dispensers haven't been cleaned in awhile. Back porch smelled like pets and cigarette smoke. These are just little things, not worth a call to get corrected and interrupt a short weekend stay.

Perfect spot downtown Decorah

Very clean, well-appointed, lots of towels, great location. We didn't mind, but FYI, there are lots of steps to climb - 28 in the back and about 20 in front.

All good. Only negative was the musty cigarette aroma. Entrances were challenging.

The Nest was the perfect choice for our little weekend stay in Decorah. It was ideally located downtown with most of our stops within walking distance. Great views! Loved the historic features of our apartment. The Nest was very clean and Kathleen was super communicative and helpful. One thing to note is the loft bed that was shown in photos online was replaced with bunk beds in reality, which ended up working out better for us with our toddler, but worth noting. We would definitely stay again!

This is a nice little apartment in downtown. Great location to enjoy a walk through town and Saturday morning Farmers Market.

The Nest had everything i needed and had everything and the kitchen sink. It was perfectly located just off the main street so it was very quiet but you are within a 5 minute walk to literally everything. I would absolutely stay here next time i need to stay in Decorah for more than a day or two.

Great location in a wonderful small town. Friendly people, clean town. Fair was clean, homemade food and fantastic entertainment.

My wife and I had great three nights here. We fished, hiked, biked, binge watched, ate, and drank craft brews based from this nice apartment. We would definitely stay here again!

This is my second time staying here. I was able to take advantage of the location and walk to Oneota co-op and Mabe's, and would have been able to walk just about anywhere. Lots of time spent outdoors, and the sofa and beds are perfect to relax and recharge when I got back in the evenings. The reserved parking spot in the back is really nice too. Already looking at my work calendar to find time to make a return trip. Thanks!

We came to town to watch Luther softball. We had a great two nights and have enjoyed the Nest on previous trips as well. We enjoy having the ability to use a kitchen, the sitting area is large enough to watch a movie with friends and the rental is always clean. We had to cancel this room this fall for Homecoming and the owner was able to move the reservation to this weekend. We found that very accommodating for us and really appreciated it.

The apartment is lovely, wonderfully decorated and perfectly located in the downtown area. We met the owner and she was lovely as she helped us get checked in and reset the locks with our preferred access code. Clean, and the kitchen is fully stocked. However, the neighbor across the stairwell, whose door is less than 3 feet from the entrance to The Nest, is a smoker and there is a constant stream of both stale and fresh cigarette smoke that seeps into The Nest. There is an air purifier going, but my husband and son both has asthma so we made the choice to leave for our health. We were sad to leave such a great location and I wish there was more that could be done to curb the smoke issue, maybe a tighter sealing door and removing that window above the bunk beds would help? Thanks.

First time stay w the kids, bunks worked perfectly. Excellent location fir walking to food and entertainment.

I've stayed in dozens of short term rentals the past few years and this was one of the best. Being able to walk a block to Impact Coffee in the morning, sit and enjoy a bagel before starting my day. Having a reserved parking spot made loading and unloading very easy. The covered three-seasons porch in back was really nice for keeping the mud and crud from my waders and boots from coming inside. The couch and bed were extremely comfortable so I was able to get some really good rest. Plus the place is just really cool - really neat little touches everywhere, and the history of the building is very apparent. I can't wait to come back with my wife so she can experience it too!

All was easy re: finding the unit, getting into it and settling in. The unit is on a second floor with a view over the St below, part of the adorable small downtown of Decorah. There was a frig with water/ice, a coffee grinder and all other preferred things on our list. Host was easy to communicate with. The only cons were the many stairs (we are older, so that's more about our limitations and the password given us through email was incorrect: but it was written on a blackboard in the front room, so all was well. Overall, we would sign up for another stay when back in Decorah.
