This luxurious loft suite is located in the heart of the historic downtown district, The Lofts on Gault offer the utmost in comfort, historic details, and views of the city and surrounding mountains. The modern eclectic style of this restored loft blends with architectural nods to the past. Spend your vacation, friends trip, or business travel in this elegant, high-end space. Listed on the National Historic Register, minutes from Little River Canyon National Preserve! (Loft access via stairsonly.)

As you enter the stairway that takes you to The Lofts, the space immediately tells a story. You follow in the footsteps of those who climbed these stairs before you to visit doctors, dentists, lawyers, seamstresses and others who occupied the space since it was built in 1914. Art canvases along the oak staircase tell the story of a fire over two decades ago that left the space unusable and abandoned, preparing you for a dramatic before and after experience. Reaching the top of the stairs you are greeted by the next chapter in this historic building's life: The Lofts on Gault.

[NOTE: The Lofts on Gault are a historical preservation project, and there is no elevator. Access to The Lofts is via a 26-step stairwell. Also, parking for The Lofts is on the side of and behind the building.]

The fleur de lis pressed metal ceiling harkens back to the building's origin. The grand piano and curved wall in the foyer, along with the restored doors and transoms original to the building, set the stage for the elegance you will discover throughout this high-end space.

The Dr. J.M. Brewer Loft is to your left. It is named for a dentist and prominent citizen of Fort Payne whose son, Dr. Stephen Brewer (also a practicing dentist in town), owned the building from 1975 to 2020.

At just under 1,700 square feet, the Brewer Loft provides ample space for your family vacation, a special trip with a group of friends, or a quiet working trip/business retreat.

Entering the Brewer Loft, you are immediately struck by the blend of modern eclectic style and historic preservation. Exquisite tile work highlights the large, open kitchen that's appointed with new, modern appliances and all the amenities you need for your stay.

You'll be drawn to the elegant living room and dining room, where you will share meals and laughter framed by tall windows that provide stunning views of the mountains.

The Brewer Loft features a spacious master bedroom suite with a comfortable queen bed and top-of-the-line linens. The guest bedroom offers the same luxurious experience. For the working traveler, the office space helps you get things done, complete with a spacious work desk and an external monitor ready to connect your laptop (just bring the cables you need to connect to the HDMI port).

The period hardwood flooring throughout, plaster walls, and original doors with transoms remind you of the historic significance of this space, while the herringbone tile and fine appointments elevate the loft to a point of elegance unlike any getaway you've experienced.

This is a unique opportunity to stay in a space that has been historically preserved in cooperation with the National Park Service. It tells the story of its past, enveloped by modern, eclectic styling and craftsmanship. New wiring, plumbing, a sprinkler system, and security system will help ensure the building will continue to be a landmark of Fort Payne for years to come.

The property is just how it looks in the photographs and my daughter and I enjoyed staying there very much. Everything was clean and comfortable, great vintage chic vibe, and the location is in the middle of Fort Payne with many restaurants and shops just outside the front door. Highly recommend staying here!

My wife and I thought about the myriad of lake and Mountain View places we could rent in the Ft. Payne/Mentobe area, but ran across The Lofts in our search. The minute we saw the interior and exterior photos and saw the primo downtown location, we were sold. As an architect married to a design and antique loving woman, we saw a fun alternative to the usual places to stay. We were NOT disappointed. The place is decorated to a “T” and located in an historic building within walking distance of some really nice shops and restaurants. It’s located a short drive to Cloudland State Park and innumerable other natural areas as well. As I said, the online photos of this place don’t do it justice. Our hosts were helpful and on the ball. Easy check in and check out. All the information we needed was provided. We spent part of a day at Orbix Hot Glass to learn glass blowing techniques and would like to go again. We know where we’ll be staying!

Really enjoyed staying here! It is so beautifully renovated. I felt right at home and enjoyed walking around the area and shopping. I was here for work at the hospital and this was so much better than a hotel and I plan to stay again.

This was my third stay over the last year. Everything about the booking, and advance communication was fast, accurate and clear. Though we didn't use it, they even have a concierge that can stock the place for you. Design-wise, the owners did a magnificent job. One relative who stopped by summed it up this way: Everywhere I look, there's something interesting. The decor is a super cool blend of historical building meets modern design, incorporating many unique pieces in every room. Parking was never an issue. The coffee shop (called The Spot) downstairs is super convenient and seems to be a popular hang space. And since my last visit, a great pizza place called 'Maters opened just a couple of doors down on Main Street, so there are two good eating options within steps of the lofts' door. If you want to stay somewhere authentically tied to Ft. Payne's past, but interpreted in a thoroughly modern and chic way, this is it. The only thing to know is that there are two flights of stairs required to get to the entrance, but that wasn't daunting at all
