The suite is an open-plan layout (except for a private bathroom) that is designed with distinct spaces. On one side, you'll find a cozy TV/living room/bar area, while the opposite end houses a sauna/workout room. The owners travel frequently and may not occupy the upstairs during your visit.

Kitchen: The kitchenette is well-equipped with local soapstone countertops, a custom soapstone sink, microwave, hot plate (2 burners), barware, wine rack, mini fridge (with small freezer), French press, electric kettle, toaster, and bar with stools. Please note this isn’t a full kitchen, but it offers plenty of amenities for light cooking.

Living Area: Relax on the sectional sofa or armchair, enjoy the rocking chair, or watch your favorite shows on the 65 TV, equipped with YouTube TV and Netflix. A computer desk with an ergonomic X-chair is also provided for those needing a work-from-home space.

Bathroom: featuring a duel-headed rain shower, a full-length mirror, closet space, shelves, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.

Sleeping Area: King-size bed, which includes a dresser, a TV with YouTube TV and Netflix, nightstands, touch lamps, charging ports, a dart board, and a lounge chair.

This place is beyond excellent. The decor feels like something between a slice of europe and boho chic, the locale is just a few blocks uphill from downtown Staunton, the wonderful touches including a dart board and sauna, and the spacious layout makes it feel like a few steps up from home. The instructions for use of everything imaginable are at hand and reminders are tastefully shared online and in the apartment. Makes you want to know the owners as, if the place is any reflection, they are thoughtful, caring and creative individuals. You will want to share this gem with others who choose to visit Staunton which is a find in itself.

The Hideaway Suite was exactly as described. So many things to do and choose from in a relatively small space! We loved having access to the sauna for a relaxing end of our day, sitting in the back yard listening to the birds, and enjoyed playing darts on the dart board. A short walk into town to explore Staunton, but tucked back on a quiet street - this was the perfect combination of everything we were looking for, in our quick getaway.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3-night stay in this very comfortable, clean, quiet, well-equipped and beautifully designed space in a great location. We also loved nearby downtown Staunton and all that it has to offer, especially on a Saturday with the farmers market and closed streets. We will definitely return in the future! One suggestion for improvement: While we appreciate the off-street driveway parking, access to it could be improved. The curb cut needs to be widened and bush trimmed or removed.

My wife and I decided to get away for a quiet weekend and it was exactly what we needed. The accommodations were clean, thought out, and very comfortable. Walking distance to everything you would want to do. Fun little place! Highly recommend.

We had the best time visiting this past weekend! It was a rainy weekend in Staunton but that didn’t dampen our spirits. We ventured out to Chophouse for a delicious dinner on Valentine’s Day. The sauna was a perfect way to start the day each morning. This home is so cozy and quiet, just perfect! We can’t wait to come back!

My husband and I stayed 2 nights in November 2024 to check out the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library & Museum. This apartment was convenient that we could walk to the museum and downtown. For future guests, here are some things to note: **The check-in instructions indicate that you may park in the driveway or on the street in front of the house. However, with the neighbors parked on both sides of the street and the narrow sidewalk cut to the driveway, there is not enough room to back in or out of the driveway unless you have a pick-up or SUV and can drive over the curb. **Typically, VRBO check-in instructions arrive 72-48 hours prior to arrival. Our automated email arrived 24 hours prior to check-in. The host will send the instructions sooner if you contact her. **When entering the apartment, be careful as there is a step down that is easy to miss. **There is a dresser in which to store your folded clothes but only a handful of hangers in the bathroom to hang up your clothes or coats. **When showering, turn the knob so that the water comes out of the rainfall shower head rather than the one on the wall. Otherwise, the spray hits the back of the shower and makes the floor mat wet since the glass does not extend along the entire length of the shower. **The bed is very soft. If you are used to a firmer mattress, you may have trouble sleeping.

The property looks just like the pics. We would definitely return. It is very close to downtown (a 5 minute walk) yet it felt secluded and relaxing. The garden and sauna were lovely. Please note that the kitchenette has a tabletop induction stovetop so don’t plan on cooking any elaborate meals. Staunton has many excellent dining options however.

Wonderful stay - will happily return. We stayed three nights and enjoyed three plays at the American Shakespeare Center, just a short, convenient walk down the hill. Excellent restaurants nearby, too. Quiet, restful, well-appointed, private, extremely comfortable little flat. Surprisingly spacious. Spotlessly clean. Bright and cheery during the day; dark and restful at night. Bed was comfortable. Enjoyed the sauna on two afternoons - a welcome relaxation. Note the accurate description of the kitchenette in the description - this is not a full kitchen. We're used to cooking a full breakfast and found the kitchenette somewhat cramped. Cleanup was challenging with no dishwasher and a small, single bowl kitchen sink. But what was there was top quality, spotlessly clean, and perfectly adequate for a quick snack or light breakfast. Just don't plan to cook a full meal. We will return to this gem of a rental. Top quality, great value.
