We thought it was unique and charming. Very Clean. The quiet surroundings, creek in the back of the property, rooster crowing at dawn....somewhat of an old time feeling with the conveniences of a modern stay. The TV was problematic to us, but we are seniors with no sense of the digital universe and the surroundings begged for reading and relaxing rather than watching the Tube. I would recommend it to others.

Listening to a running creek at night at this property was so relaxing and this made our stay very enjoyable.

This was a very comfy rustic retreat. The bed was very comfy, the room was cozy and the deck was inviting. The river flowing through the property is a plus, we even had a black bear wandering along the river. We would definitely stay again when in the area.

What an exquisite spot to unwind and relax with and in! I’ll start with the accommodating and aesthetically delightful room. Everything you need is in this studio space, including what you need to eat in if you choose. Take advantage of the outdoor grill and dine on the river. Speaking of which, how marvelous it is to sit on the deck in the morning under the trees, and watch the river roll by. So pleasant to listen to it at night through the open door! I took some art supplies with me and really enjoyed sitting by the river with my feet in it using my watercolors. Sheila was an absolute delight. I so enjoyed meeting her and how she works hard to make this place and your time there, memorable. Thank you, Sheila for all you provided for us and we hope to make our way back to you one day! We spent Valentine's weekend at The Bunkhouse. It was a great place to stay, from being next to the Wallowa River, seeing the deer, cows out the back deck to having Judy as an excellent hostess. There were rose pedals and chocolates on the bed when we arrived... awesome touch. We definitely want to go back in the summer to enjoy all the fun outdoor activities.

How lovely to have the Wallowa River just outside our door! This is a convenient location for all Joseph area activities. The property is very quiet overall. You can hear people talking through the shared wall, but after 8PM, all we could hear was the river. We had some pesky flies, but this is part of the deal when you are in farm/ranch country with beautiful horses on the property.

Overall, this was such a creative and rustic place. I loved the antique pieces and the functional use of items. The bed was very comfortable. The challenge was that the deck had not been cleaned (bird droppings and just grime) for a long time - had to put a towel on the chair to cover the yuk. The adirondack chairs down by the beautiful brook were not used due to the many bird droppings that were not new. Attention to these details would have left me providing a fantastic review, but the bird droppings and grime was icky. Also, the screen door had no screen in it on the top so trying to have cool evening air (no air conditioner) in the room was not an option. I was surprised that the beautiful hanging flower pots were not watered at all, so they were dead by the end of our third day. Again, attention to these details would be my recommendation. Thanks so much for the wonderful location.

The property and location was very nice - we loved hearing the creek and being able to leave the screen door open at night. The bed was clean and comfortable. The room needs a good vacuuming - it was very dusty in the corners and along the edges. We were unable to access the wifi with information provided in confirmation or with the instructions provided in the room.

We really enjoyed sitting on the back deck with the river running below. Peaceful and private. A great place to stay central to all the activities Joseph has to offer. Easy check in.

Although a bit crowded with the shabby chick furnishings the decor was charming and inventive. There's a variety of cooking devices for such a small space but a lack of workspace unless you move some operations to the back deck. And there is the crowning glory; an adequate deck just above a small river surrounded by trees busy with birds, occasional view of cows, deer and perhaps even a skunk. All in all a lovely quiet property within a few minutes drive of downtown.
