The Black Thistle a historical church in downtown Tonganoxie!

This place was absolutely beautiful! The host was super responsive and communicative! The amenities were great! There was everything we needed and more! We can’t wait to visit again!

Amazing place to stay!

This place is SO cool!Well accommodated and host very kind and informative! Loved it!

Beautiful home in a quiet area but within 25 minutes of KU. Several good restaurants within a few blocks-we enjoyed lunch at 1866 very much. Home was spotless clean & comfortable with quality finishings & bedding. Strong WiFi & good water pressure in the superb walk in showers. Victoria was very helpful & quick to respond. The only negative is that the 2nd bedroom is in the loft on the opposite end of the downstairs bathroom so you have to go downstairs & across the house to use the 2nd bathroom. Also, we felt the wooden stairs were a bit slick so my Mom used the downstairs sofa bed instead. She was very comfortable there she said. The primary suite however is flawless. Use of the washer & dryer was also a bonus.

We stayed here while attending a volleyball tournament in Lawrence, KS. Tonganoxie is a great little community. The downtown is nice, and the area feels very safe. The Black Thistle is a great place to stay, the pictures don't do it justice. There is a full grocery store on the NE side of town -Brothers Market.

Just a delightful experience! The host was very responsive, the setting was cozy a lovely coffee shop across the street! I cannot say enough positive things about our stay. We came for the Ren Fair and could not have chosen a better location!

What an absolutely stunning location. It was gorgeous inside and out and we had the absolutely best time as a best friend group walking for coffee, visiting wineries and just hanging together in our gorgeous accommodations. If you are ANYWHERE in the area, it is worth making your way to this getaway. Perfect for what we needed and we would definitely come back to stay again!

We had a wonderful stay at Black Thistle Church! The space was absolutely beautiful and perfect for our family gathering. We hosted a dinner for about 25 people, and the owner went above and beyond by providing extra chairs and two folding tables, which made everything so much easier. They even let us check in early and were incredibly kind and accommodating throughout our stay.The property itself is unique, spacious, and very well cared for, it truly added something special to our family event. We couldn’t have asked for a better place or a more thoughtful host. Highly recommend!

Fun and relaxing time at The Black Thistle! Wonderful property with plenty of space. Everything was just as described. Fantastic host and zero problems.

We enjoyed our stay at Black Thistle! It's a fun and inviting, unique stay in an old church. There was plenty of room for our group of three adults and three children. The town is cute and quaint with a few good dining options and two cute coffee shops. Close to the big city but just far enough to escape the hustle and bustle.

Well kept rental, comfy beds. Will return.

We had an amazing time at the house! Would 100% recommend if you have family gathering to spend time for any occasion especially the holidays! We made the best out of the open space playing games, cooking, and eating dinner!

This is the most beautiful houses I've ever stayed in. Everything about it was perfect and our stay couldn't have gone better.

I can’t say enough positive things about our stay at Black Thistle! We were in town for a wedding and everyone was in awe at the amount of great space we had and how clean everything was. I also loved how the furniture, bathrooms and decor were all recently renovated and modern. Fortunately we had pleasant weather during our stay and could enjoy many hours on the outdoor patio playing darts. Awesome location with the best coffee shop directly next door, a library across the street, and a restaurant/bar, gas station, and pharmacy all within a 5 minute walk. We will absolutely stay here again if we’re ever back in town!

Very nice and will stay again

This location was wonderful for our family staying in town for a wedding in KC with a reception at Brunswick Ballroom. The living space is huge with a very nice master suite/bathroom and a lofted bedroom with the bunks. The owners did a great job with the mixing the historical feel with modern amenities. The location has easy access to surrounding areas. I would stay here again if I am ever back in the area.
