This is a single family loft with a private entrance. The Front Loft at Sanctuary Place was completed in 2010. Like it's sister Loft next door, the Front Loft is full of original details combined with modern design features. Throughout the space the commitment to preserve the past is evident.

Great care has been taken to accentuate the original craftsmanship while attending to the needs of modern life. The stained glass creates a welcoming allure of light in different combinations throughout the day making the Font Loft ideal for entertaining or just relaxing with a book. There are two bedrooms and two baths - both beds are queen. The first floor bathroom has a walk in tile shower, the top floor bath has a large cast-iron tub. The Loft is fully equipped for cooking and stocked with the comforts of home. Visitors can relax and meet other guests in a private courtyard with fountain. Great location right off Forsyth Park.

Built in 1889 as St Paul's Episcopal Church by architect Eric Eichberg, this historic property hosted varied congregations over the past century before falling into disrepair around 2002. Restoration began in 2005 and the Front Loft was completed in 2010. The exterior sides, covered with stucco, were refitted with cyprus siding. The original vintage pine was reclaimed from the roof and sides to be used for the interior construction. The flying buttresses and bell-tower, both missing for decades, were reconstructed from historic photographs. About 50% of the stained glass was replaced with restoration glass, the surviving memorials were restored where possible.
The interior was designed to flow upward and outward providing different vantage-points to view the original details. The original ceiling and support columns provided the framework for a minimalist design concept - further accentuating the remarkable Victorian-era craftsmanship. The stained glass combine with amazing results to create a surprising amount of warmth for such a large volume of space. The juxtaposition of the old and new creates a comfortable balance, giving the Loft the true feel of a home.

We hope to see you soon and happy travels,

The property is beautiful. The house is well stocked and comfortable. The historic detail in the house and property is breathtaking. The location was also really nice. The park was walking distance. We had a very nice trip. I recommend this property and hope to stay again.

This beautiful unit was the perfect stay and added to the unique Savannah experience. The stained-glass windows were stunning, especially at night, and then as they lit up the loft in the morning. The apartment was clean, well equipped, and in a great location. Great hosts, great time just went too fast. Can't wait to visit again.

Decided on Savannah for spring break and we were looking for a unique property. This unit was incredible. Dark wood, original floors, stained glass, and our daughter loved the loft. Owners were very responsive to any questions we had. We’d consider buying it and retiring.

Very impressive historic property in a quiet neighborhood just south of Forsyth Park, a very pleasant 1.5 mile walk to downtown. We spent most of our time touring downtown (& its Speakeasies!), eating in the area south of Forsythe Park. We found the website photos to be accurate, but being in this space was exceptional. The host, Kevin, was extremely pleasant, helpful, and knowledgeable about the building's renovations. We plan on visiting again soon!

This is such a beautiful home and in a great location. Although we were minutes away from so many places, cafes and restaurants, and things to do, honestly we spent most of our time in the bell tower, hanging out in the cozy living space and cooking meals together. Would definitely make a return visit! Thanks Kevin for maintaining this lovely historic building and providing great customer service.

We have stayed before in a couple of places in Savannah in the area surrounding Forsyth Park, but this is definitely the best. It is a stunning conversion, keeping the character of this converted church, but with all mod cons. The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen was well-equipped and the lounge and dining area were all we could have wanted. We would certainly make this our first choice if we come to Savannah again. If you are reasonably fit, it is within walking distance of the historic squares, and if not, the free DOT bus can be picked up at Forsyth Park. Savannah is definitely our favourite town in the US - so far (we are Brits!).

Our stay at the Bell Tower was cut short due to a power outage because of Hurricane Helene. Our host was so helpful through the whole process to cancel and get our refund. The property is also beautiful and one of a kind. Highly recommend!

From booking to checkout, the process was seamless and smooth. Communication with the owner was great. The house was true to the photos, but once you’re inside and actually see in person the awesome way they so tastefully preserved the historical detail of the home while still updating amenities to provide a comfortable feel, this house easily meets and exceeds expectation. We were within walking distance of downtown, Forsyth Park, and not far from River Street…It is such a great location. The house was well stocked with all we needed. An overall wonderful experience and we are thankful to have found this listing and had the opportunity to stay here. We would recommend this place!

Eating out with no problem. Restaurants were within walking distance. What wonderful walking it was. Postcard views everywhere. Kevin was a gracious and inviting host. He answered all the questions we needed answered. The house was extremely welcoming. We cannot say enough, good things about the church/house. It was exceptional. We loved the loft. It was a different perspective than anything we’ve ever been in. My sister has always wanted to live in a church and this will fulfilled her dream. Thank you Kevin for our wonderful stay.
