No car is necessary, as soon as you walk out the front door, everything is on your doorstep – lovely local little shops in which to browse in, cafes, restaurants, banks, small supermarkets, everything you could wish for. Have a gentle stroll via the scenic route along the promenade, stopping off at Molly’s for a delicious home cooked breakfast, lunch or dinner, or pay a visit next door from Molly's to the Bay Fish and Chip shop (brilliant fresh fish and worth the wait!) You may simply want to relax with a leisurely coffee at the Waterfront Cafe offering dramatic sea views or treat yourself to afternoon tea at Arduthie House which offers delicious home baking. If you prefer sample some fine dining at one of Scotland’s best seafood restaurants, The Tolbooth (booking essential) overlooking the picturesque, historic harbour or just sit by the sea with an ice-cream from Aunt Betty’s – (toppings a must!) and soak in the atmosphere, whilst dolphin spotting. Further restaurants, cafes, bars, ice-cream shops, fish and chip shops (including the Carron famous for its deep fried Mars bars) can be found in the surrounding streets and are too numerous to mention you will just keep finding them!
For the children there is the adventure playground, teenagers the skate park and don’t forget to bring your swimming costume for a quick splash in our famous Art Deco Olympic sized heated out-door pool (summer months only) and offering midweek midnight swims. The leisure centre has an indoor pool open all year. We also have a bowling green, putting and tennis courts – there is something for everyone.
If you are feeling energetic you can walk up through Bervie Braes towards Dunnottar Castle - well worth the climb as once at the top the view on a nice day is amazing of Stonehaven Bay. A further five minute walk and passing the war memorial, you will see our iconic Dunnottar Castle in the distance a spectacular fortress ruins where you can take in the breathtaking awesome scenery, imagining life in the 15th century (Part of Hamlet was filmed here starring Mel Gibson) and a “must” visit. There is a road-train which operates in the summer months from the Market Square if you don’t feel like walking.
Stonehaven also has one of the oldest golf courses in Scotland which straddles the Highland Fault Line and offers scenic views across Stonehaven Bay towards Dunnottar (visitors welcome any time). Nearby, the sandstone cliffs of Fowlsheugh hold one of Scotland's largest sea bird colonies. View the puffins during their nesting period; a truly memorable experience.

What a lovely piece of the world . Great location , immaculately clean . Everything you need for a self catering holiday . Beds have lovely linen and are really comfortable . It’s a ground floor apartment and it is really quiet . Co- op just round the corner . Harbour close by with pubs and cafes that serve good food especially the Marina Imn. Frances the owner is so helpful and friendly and left lots of welcome treats. She gave us a written guide of places to go and see and they were all fabulous . Thete is no private parking but plenty of on road parking round the corner or a carpark . The locals are very friendly too . Thank you for everything Frances we had a lovely week.
Top class accommodation. Would work with two couples as well as a family as there are two bathrooms. The local shops are very good. The owner left an extremely generous welcome pack. Outstanding views from kichen and lounge.
I stayed for a week at this property in May. We had an absolutely wonderful time. The apartment was beautiful and so clean and modern, exactly what we were hoping for. My granddaughter booked this for me and had excellent communication with Frances the owner. It really put my mind at ease for arrival and for our stay. Frances also went above and beyond with lots of helpful information prior to our stay about things to do locally as well as recommendations for places to eat. We met face to face during my stay and she was lovely. Had a wonderful stay and look forward to returning again sometime in the future.
Our second stay with Frances the owner, different apartment but both so clean, well supplied with many extra goodies provided!! Lovely apartment and wonderful location. I would highly recommend!
The apartment is in a wonderful position on the seafront - breakfast in the kitchen watching the waves crashing 30 feet away is a wonderful experience. As soon as we walked into the property we knew the owner cared about her guests: everything was clean and tidy, the heating was on at a comfortable level and she had been very generous with the Welcome Pack/goodies that we kept finding. The rooms are light, airy and comfortable. Stonehaven itself is very welcoming and friendly and it is well positioned for exploring, though once you start watching the waves you may not want to.
My first impression of the outside of the property, Wow, right on the beach pedestrian promenade. Entering the ground floor property, the furnishings and cleanliness was first rate. Everything we have in our own kitchen was here, even quality wine glasses. Perfect nights sleep, daytime watching the waves directly in front, was mesmerizing Less than 2 minutes from the centre square and the same to the large Co op Superstore. Our only disappointment, every night about 6 pm, after a perfect sunny day, the clouds and rain rolled in, so there was no Northern Lights to see. Top rated hostess. Highly recommended. .
We had a lovely week here. The accommodation is exactly as described - surprisingly spacious and perfectly clean! Location on the seafront is stunning and lots of lovely inns / pubs / restaurants nearby Communication from owner was first class An excellent choice - highly recommended.
We had a great time. The facilities were excellent and Frances had left all manner of treats to welcome us. Parking is just round the corner and it was no problem. There are fabulous views of the sea from the flat. I have no hesitation in recommending this property.
We stayed here over new year and had a fantastic time the fireballs on New Year’s Eve were amazing, as were the fireworks The flat is spotlessly clean and comfortable with everything you need The views are stunning and the surrounding area is beautiful for walks Frances is a great host and has everything well organised she provided us with lovely treats which added a special touch to our stay. This will be one of the most memorable New Years we have had, we won’t forget our most enjoyable stay in Stonehaven.
Wonderful apartment, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Many lovely treats , biscuits, chocolates etc greeted us on our arrival. Perfect location , close to the shops but the views of the ocean right at the windows.
We were were in need of a break away somewhere with great views and lovely walks. We certainly found it here. The apartment was fantastic, with the views of the sea we loved. All the little extra made it even more special.
The manager of this property could lead a Masterclass in hospitality. Every detail about our stay was perfect, and the little touches around the place were amazing. Stonehaven is a great location, and having a place like this to stay makes it worth recommending and worth going back to again and again.
We could have just sat looking at the ever changing views through the windows but we would have missed so much. Stoney is lovely in itself but also a gateway to other great places, on foot, by car, bus or train. The apartment is fabulous; very clean, comfortable and beautifully presented. The thought and attention to detail that went into making our stay truly home from home was clearly evident. The whole team involved have created a fabulous experience. We loved it.

Our accommodation was extremely well equipped, Frances our landlady provided everything we could possibly need and lots of lovely treats as well. The accommodation was perfectly located within a few yards of the beach. Stonehaven is a lovely seaside town with lots of local history which we enjoyed visiting.
Well appointed and decorated fresh clean flat. Great location looking out to sea. Owner made it extra special with fresh flowers and treats on arrival.
Fantastic from beginning to end. Frances was very helpful. House lovely, very clean. Left lots of special touches especially for the children with Easter. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. Hopefully be back soon.
We stayed here for 4 nights and had a great time. The flat is a great size with everything you need and it was very clean. Lots of little extra touches and treats were appreciated. Views from the window look right onto the beach where you can just sit and watch the waves. Great location for exploring Stonehaven and the surrounding area. The walk to the castle is lovely and well worth a visit. Balmoral Castle isn't too far away and is a great way to spend a few hours. Would definitely recommend the flat to anyone.
