This River House is located on the Monocacy River with a beautiful open view of the river and the Antietam National Battlefield on the opposite shore. Downtown Frederick, Maryland is just 3 miles away and offers a fun variety of restaurants, pubs, breweries, shopping and cultural activities. Your getaway could be taking in the scenic view, drifting down the river or heading into downtown Frederick for some lively entertainment. Bring your fishing rods! The Monocacy boasts large and smallmouth Bass, carp, and catfish. A brick charcoal barbecue grill is offered for outdoor grilling.

There are 3 units available in the River House, with this spacious and private studio occupying the entire water view side of the 1st floor. The studio is designed with several large windows and 2 sliding glass doors to provide wonderful views of the river. Hickory hardwood floors shine throughout with cedar closets. This new construction includes a kitchenette with microwave oven, refrigerator and coffee maker. Entertain, visit, or enjoy some quiet reading time in the sitting area with a full-size couch and 2 captain’s chairs. The studio provides a large full bath with tub/shower and direct access to the private front deck of the building. With a queen size bed and a dining booth that converts to a double bed, the studio can sleep a total of 4 persons. The dining booth/bed convertible is 72 by 48 when it's converted to a bed, so it may not be suitable for tall adults. There is also free access to a full-size washer and dryer.
Pets are welcome at an additional fee but must be crated when unattended.

We have had some issues with noise from the Villa (2nd floor) making it hard for guests in the two lower units to sleep. So, there is an 11 pm excessive noise curfew for the Villa when either of the lower units is occupied. Also, we recently installed several hundred cubic ft. of cellulose sound dampening insulation in the ceiling of this unit to re-mediate the issue.

Pets under about 50 lbs are welcomed at an additional fee of $40 per pet, per stay, but must be crated when unattended. I can make exceptions to the fee structure for small dogs or multiple pets.

In support of the global effort to conserve energy resources utilizing reasonable practices, we have installed Ecobee “smart” thermostats in all of our listings that the guests can also control. The thermostats are preset with a maximum heating setting of 72 degrees and a minimum cooling setting of 72 degrees.

This adorable unit right on the Monocacy River was just what my heart and soul needed!! The host Joe was absolutely the best and made sure I even had a place when I needed to stay longer since this cutie was already rented! You will not be disappointed if you are looking for a secluded place but also a minutes drive to dining and shopping! Downtown is super close without the hustle of city living. Oh and check out his other places available close by! They are amazing as well! Thanks Joe for being so accommodating! Will be back whenever I am in the area!!

Beautiful view and deck. Interior was cramped, coffee maker, internet, and tv did not work, could not sleep due to noise from other units, pot smoke in the hallways, host was aggressive regarding a minor issue with my dog.

This property was a perfect little hideaway. I enjoyed being able to sit on the deck in the morning with my coffee and watch the geese in the creek. It was quiet and peaceful. And it was close enough to shops and restaurants when we felt the need to go out. Especially only being about 15 minutes from downtown Frederick. We would definitely stay there again!

wonderful experience - location was perfect (river was beautiful and very close to downtown Fredrick), clean, well stocked with plates, mugs, hot plate, grill master, toaster, pots and pans, and Joe was accessible and easy to communicate with!

This unit has a fantastic view. It is a little hard to find, but because of that it ends up being in a convenient location, close to shops and restaurants, while seeming to be in a remote, rural location. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and watching the river. The owner was very responsive when we had to contact him about a barking dog in a neighboring unit. Having said that, there were some issues. The unit was not clean—there were obvious crumbs on the bar area and the floor and obvious food residue on almost everything in the kitchen. The house was not well stocked. Drinking glasses consisted of three 8oz water glasses; there was a mismatch of a few plates and bowls, half of which were dirty or stained; some coffee mugs; and not much other dinnerware. There was one previously-used, stained, dishwashing sponge—no dish rags or dish towels. There is Wi-Fi, but the morning we were to arrive we received the check-in information from the owner saying the internet could not handle any kind of streaming. We were told we could set the air conditioning at whatever we would like. What we were not told was that the air conditioning resets to preprogrammed temperatures at 6:30 a.m. (74 degrees) and 11:30 p.m. (82 degrees). Most of the blinds on the windows had broken slats and some did not work. The bathroom has an unfinished pine floor which would be impossible to clean properly and is stained in the high traffic areas. There were cobwebs in several areas and leftover trash around the bathroom waste can. We were provided with two bath towels, but no washrags. There is a unit above you and another unit beside you on the first floor and the noise easily carries from one unit to another to the extent that you feel like the people in the other units are just in the next room. There is no feeling of privacy and you can easily hear the noise of people talking and laughing, and the thumps and bumps of them moving around. This place needs some loving care, and a good cleaning, and it could be a very nice place to stay. The owner was very nice, he just doesn’t seem to be on top of things. I would encourage you to consider a stay here, but check with the owner first to see if these issues have been addressed.

The studio apt is very nice and comfortable, very cute. We enjoyed the front porch with the river view. You can spot the rare birds in the morning. Short drive to Frederick downtown. We will definitely stay again.

A little confusing finding the location, but once found, it was conveniently close to road and shopping, yet secluded away on river. we made use of the grill and enjoyed hanging out on the deck overlooking the river. a wonderful setup for the price and just what we needed for a little weekend getaway. thank you!

The property was perfect for a quiet getaway. The area was peaceful and beautiful. The studio was spotlessly clean and well appointed. Frederick is only a short drive and we had fantastic dinners and shopping there. We will be back.

Lovely cabin, clean and updated, tucked away in a nice area, restaurants, grocery stores, movie theater, everything close! Relaxing, comfortable stay! Will try to repeat this experience in 3 months. Property owner responds in a reasonable amount of time. Thank you Joe!
