Portland, Oregon
If you feel like adventuring through Portland and want to base out of Southeast where you sit almost directly between Division and Hawthorne on 32nd, it is hard to find a better location than this one. You have a private entrance on the side of the house that leads down to a newly converted basement. It is clean, neat, and has some wonderful amenities. Every single thing in this retreat is brand new. It is a large spacious area divided between a sitting and living area and the bedroom area with a full bathroom and kitchenette. In the living area, the couch folds down into a bed. It is great for kids but depending on size may not be great for adults. The bed however is new and comfortable. There is a kitchenette with a microwave, sink, and refrigerator as well as a newly remodeled full bathroom.
A brand new high end self inflatable air mattress has been made available for guests. The allows up to four adults to sleep comfortably. It takes less than five minutes to inflate and deflate. There are linens available for the bed as well.
Some of the best restaurants in the region are a walk-able handful of blocks away. Wake up to one of the most incredible brunches around at Jam on Hawthorne. Get there and enjoy a mimosa while you wait.- There is always a line for good reason. Perhaps a lunch at Pok Pok, eating some of the best Thai food in Portland (make sure you try the chicken wings, not only are they famous but most will say they are the best they had)! Finish it off with dinner at Ava Gene's and enjoy and Italian dinner with farm fresh ingredients hand made pasta where everything is special. These are just a few of the dozens of incredible restaurants, bars, and stores up and down Division and Hawthorne. Whether you choose to walk, bike, or ride-share .. everything is accessible.
You are also minutes away from downtown, two hours to the Oregon Coast and ninety minutes to Mt. Hood. The amount of adventures to be had in the region is countless.
We do ask that you please remember this is a private basement apartment with the rest of the home above. The owners above live normal lives and you will likely hear footsteps from them, their dogs, and/or a distant muffled voice. Because of their dogs, if someone comes to the door or there is lots of noise outside you may hear a bark. Also for this reason that only a single small dog is permitted on the premises. No large dogs are allowed at all and only 1 max. In the event you do bring your small dog and decide to leave them in the basement apartment while you are out and about, we do require that they are put in a crate (we have had other dogs cause damage to the doors/furniture in the past and want to avoid this happening again).
PET FRIENDLY: **There is a $50 pet fee per pet with a maximum of 2 dogs. Please be aware failure to adhere to the house rules as it pertains to pets may result in cancellation of the booking with no refund. **

Kids upstairs got a bit loud, but they curbed it when we them aware.
Immediately noticed a very musky smell, No Air Condition and a very menecaing letter on coffee table about how they use a device somewhere in the unit to messure our decibels as visitors and if at any point they decide the decible of volume is too high they can Immediately evict. Ironically, their dogs and loud foot steps and slamming doors woke everyone up in a panic at 7:30am sharp. Never spoke to the owners once our whole visit until the day we were packing and they were very cold, stand offish and almost unhappy to run into us (their guest.) The sleeper couch has a huge metal pole through the very center and was unsleepable. The place was barely cleaned before arrival. Dust and dirt underneath everything and the hand soap had water added to it so they didn't have to buy more. Overall pretty shabby, over priced and over rated. Just go to a hotel.
Great place. The space was large and comfortable. I was traveling alone and felt safe. Great neighborhood with lots of food and vintage stores within walking distance.
Location was perfect for us. We made use of shops and restaurants on Hawthorne. It was close to our son's home. Our unit was equipped with excellent bathroom facilities, tv, fireplace, kitchen, lighting. A few complaints: sleeper couch was uncomfortable and bedding insufficient. As it was a basement unit, it seemed a bit dank.
great walkable little neighborhood close to all the great se hang outs and shops
A great part of town to enjoy Portland thoroughly!
We had a great visit! We were comfortable and our accommodations were great. I noticed no VRBO’s offer Kleenex. I would recommend you do.
This place is what it says, a basement rental in a residential house in a lovely neighbourhood, close to great areas to explore. The bed is comfortable, bathroom was nice and clean. Considering all the extra fees that were paid it is very pricey for what is is. The upstairs tenants and furnace were VERY loud so it was hard to relax. The place is minimally supplied with very basic essentials but no way to make a cup of tea or boil water other than in the microwave. It was clean on the surface but do not drop anything under the bed as it will come back very dusty. The couch does turn into a bed but my 9 year old kiddo found it very uncomfortable as there is a metal bar under one side. We did receive prompt and helpful communication about how to close the vents and open the windows so we wouldn't overheat down there. As a single woman travelling with my daughter I didn't find this place comfortable, it does have a separate entrance but it goes through a hallway where there are multiple doors and no way was presented to lock the inside door to the unit when we went out for the day. I don't like leaving negative reviews but I found this rental to be quite overpriced in comparison to my other experiences in Portland.
We were very comfortable in this property close to restaurants and shopping. The rooms had everything we needed with thoughtful extras.
A perfect place for our quick getaway. Great location . We were able to easily walk to several food locations. We really enjoyed the food trucks.
Upon walking in it was very musty right away and tv didn’t work…contacted iTrip to express my concerns and asked if I could be moved to another location or refunded and in the rudest manner possible was told that those problems were not grounds for cancellation. So decided to try to suck it up but was gonna be there for almost a week, looked for the source of the smell and discovered mold along the base of the bathroom wall and began to experience breathing issues. My son and I left the rental and spent the next 5 hours in urgent care while received to breathing treatments. I contacted bothe VRBO and iTrip and explained the situation…Vrbo told me since it is a outside reservation(they advertise but don’t actually handle the booking) I needed to contact iTrip, I contacted iTrip and again sane beyond rude response. No offer of any compensation or apology just a snide “enjoy Portland”. I reported iTrip to BBB and discovered multiple complaints and reported them to the multi mag county health department and have begun other forms of legal action. Out 6 nights I planned to stay didn’t make it through 1. Worst experience I’ve ever had through any vacation rental property company and I’ve had literally 100+ plus stays in properties due to work travel and visiting my son. iTrip should be put out of business and shame on VRBO for providing a platform for such a rude and disrespectful company.
A perfect location.. Beautiful neighborhood. Could not get the TV to work, but other than that, it was a well appointed apartment. The add-on fees and taxes did make it more expensive than what was advertised.
This place is just as advertised and the host went to great lengths to ensure my stay met expectations. I couldn’t have been happier with my stay.
Property was on a quiet street just a few blocks walk from plenty to see and places to eat. Well-stocked with linens, soap, etc., and a very fluffy mattress. No problems finding street parking. Thanks for a great stay!
Close to restaurants and night life. Easy process. Clean and simple. The cable on the TV did not work.
Properry was clean, close to fun spots to eat and drink, check in and out painless. We will be back on our next visit. THANKS!
The spot was cool on hot days! Close to awesome foods and a sweet little park. It was comfortable and clean.
I would recommend Southeast retreat! It’s a nice comfortable space, that’s walkable to all of the hotspots on division.
Cute space in a neighborhood close to everything. For the most part, the place was quiet. The only thing I would add is that there is no way to lock your door once you leave the room (there is the side door that is locked by the code). But I would stay here again.
Very nice space! Electric fireplace was great
