San Diego Surf Lodge #4 - 1/2 Block to the Pacific - Charming Apartment

I had a lot of accommodations that had to be made for my work trip and the owner was super helpful and accommodating. I would've probably been annoyed with myself but he had no complaints. Walk to the beach is 5 min but you can walk a min to get a perfect view of the ocean. Would highly recommend this place

The property was easy to find and get in/out of. All of my questions to the owner were answered quickly, within the hour and didn't cause any delay in the check-in process. There isn't air conditioning, which I was worried about since it was the end of July. The space was warm when we entered in the afternoon but there were fans going in every room and once evening came and the breeze from the ocean, it was pleasant for the rest of the stay. We kept the windows open the entire stay. The property was gated. Outside temperatures were mid 60's to mid 70's throughout our stay. Linens and towels were clean. It was great to have 2 bedrooms, we have a teenager who likes their own space. All of the other places I looked at in the neighborhood were 1 bedroom with a pullout couch. It was a short walk to the beach, via the streets, or there was a staircase at the end of the street that takes you down to the tidepools and then connects to the beach right by the pier. The staircase is steep though, so use the streets if you have little kids or trouble with stairs. Overall, very happy with our stay.

The location of the home was perfect, the kitchen well stocked with utensils and plateware. My family will definitely be staying here again in the future. Doug was a wonderful host and made sure we had everything we needed.

Stop for 3 happy hour fish tacos at Wonderlands. Great food, beautiful view. Easy access to the property. Cozy, clean apartment with all the necessities and assigned parking spot behind the property, not street part which was nice! Beach chairs and umbrella. Wi-Fi and flatscreen TVs in each room connected to streaming services. Cons: If you’re not familiar with Ocean Beach, you’re in the flight path of the San Diego airport. Flights start early morning about 5:30-6:00 am, if your windows are open, it gets pretty loud. Both beds are sagging and uncomfortable, they’re in need of replacement in our opinion.

Location is amazing, Price reasonable. There is no A/C, which ended up not being too big of a deal but I think in the summer it's something to give you pause if you're going to be there during daylight hours. They do have access to a washer and dryer but it's not in unit: that's my only small ding.

Doug was great at communicating and everything was as described. We had a slight audible and Doug was very communicative and flexible with us.

Really great location

We are from MA and to try something different decided to trade the beaches of New England for SoCal this summer. This location is walking distance to Ocean Beach and the great beachy restaurants surrounding Newport Ave. Kids loved catching small crabs located in the tide pools at the end of the street. Walls were a tad thin and we heard snoring from next door one night, but the fan in our room drowned it out. other than that this neighborhood seem to adhere to quiet time. its located on the second floor so we had a nice breeze. Closet had lots of useful things for a trip to the beach!

Overall cute place- a little rough around the edges. Clean, manager very responsive. Lots of great restaurants near by, had a blast body boarding every day. Great tide pools just down the street
