Stayed Jan 23, 2026We stayed for 5 nights in January. The barn is well designed and built to a high standard. It is also well equipped and dog friendly. We liked that it has direct access to fields and pubic footpath networks through the public car park to the rear which again is dog friendly. The general area also has many tourist attractions. Our rating for the Barn is 4*. The reason it is not 5* is traffic noise from the road to the front of the pub. I have reduced the overall rating to 3* because we were not told that the Red Lion pub would be closed throughout our stay. The website says that it is closed Monday & Tuesday which is fair enough but it was closed for the whole of January and we only found out from a notice on the pub door when we arrived. We even had a confirmed table booking for when we arrived on the friday. So Pub score is 0*.Menus look great but pointless if the pub is shut.

Stayed Jun 7, 2025I booked the accommodation for my son and daughter in law's wedding night, the people who run the Red Lion could not have been more helpful or generous in making sure it was perfect for them.

Stayed Apr 8, 2025It's very convenient for me as my sister lives in the village. Good facilities and a well laid out accommodation. The only issue was with the key pad. When I collected the key it was not shut properly and when I tried to put the key back when I left I could not open it and had to put the key under the door.

Stayed Dec 7, 2024We love the open plan nature of the room and the neat kitchen facilities plus the walk-in shower. In terms of improvement, I would recommend an outside light along the side leading up to the front door (it is very dark along there) and a little more attention to cleaning (eg - the floor behind the bedside tables). Overall an excellent venue.

Stayed Aug 31, 20242 nights in the lovely Little Barn. Spacious & furnished to a high standard, this was a really comfortable base to go exploring the Shotley Peninsula. Our dog was made welcome, as were we. Delicious meal at the pub on the first night. Likely to be in the area regularly over the next couple of years, whilst daughter at school nearby, will definitely return.
