South facing spacious apartment on the second (top) floor with a large private roof terrace and beautiful communal pool in a nicely gardened area, within 20 minutes walk to the beach.

Two bed rooms, two bathrooms with showers, open plan kitchen and living room, two balconies and roof terrace, private underground parking space, sofa bed in the living room. The main balcony and roof terrace overlook an (illuminated) park with a small playground. Pedestrian streets next to the building- no traffic disturbance. From the main balcony, which you enter from the living room, a stair case leads up to a private, 30 m2, roof terrace with sun longes and a shade. The apartment is located in a well kept gated and gardened community in a small charming village by the sea.

Within five minutes by car you reach the famous La Manga Golf Club and tennis academy and the location is next to Calblanque nature reserve with walking- and bicycle tracks, horse riding and fantastic natural beaches. Within 20 minutes you both reach the town of Cartagena (harbour, old town with pedestrian streets and Roman remains) and La Manga (restaurants, night life and water sport facilities). Within 50 minites you can visit the shopping streets and cathedral of Murcia and the boardwalk of Puerto de Mazarron. Four large golf clubs can be reached within 30 minute drive (La Serena, Mar Menor, Roda and La Manga). 75 minutes from Alicante Airport and 30 minutes from Murcia airport San Javier.

Surrounded by mountains and sea, the village of Portman is very safe and child friendly and still very Spanish. There is a number of bars and restaurants close by, a medical center, a pharmacy, banks and two supermarkets. Bus connections are limitied.

Airport transfer can be arranged. Cleaning after departure, bed linen and towels are included. Reliable hight speed internet wifi is also included.

In case of substantial mobility problems, please note that access to the roof terrace involves 14 steps - 77 cm wide with side support but with no hand-rail (which is the same for all roof terraces in the area) - see picture.

    I wasn't sure about Portman due to the history of the contaminated beach. The only reason you would have thought to go is to see the contaminated beach, but don't let that put you off. The local authority is working to fix the forty-year-old contamination. It will likely take a few more years, but it is irrelevant because Portman has much more to offer. If you are looking for a quiet village beach holiday, Portman delivers. And, there is an absolute gem of a beach less than a kilometre away. Perfect for families with kids and two really good typical Spanish restaurants right on the beach, good food at good prices.The apartment was excellent, well-equipped and well situated.

    Overall stay was fine,(I was there for a month) unfortunately I had a back problem for two weeks plus, followed by a final week with gout stopping me from two much sight seeing, so I can't comment two much on the surrounding areas, the apartment was well located and quiet, but we had a problem with the stairs leading to the roof terrace... no hand rail, there should be a warning for people with mobility issues about these steps as my wife has arthritis in both feet ,two artificial knees and was unable navigate the steps I would not have booked the apartment had these steps been pointed out in the description, having said these steps(not the stairs into the apartment they were expected and were not a problem)were the only issue I had with the apartment, there is plenty of parking near by plus the apartment has it's own park underneath but i never used this. Location is aside an infants play area which gets busy late in the evening(parents are present).

    .This appartment is well furnished. Beds ans sofas clean and very comfortable. Kitchen is equipped with everything you need. Very helpful and responsive host. Portman is a unique and quirky destination with a lot of history and situated right on the edge of the Calblanque national park. The park offers miles of trail walking which at the higher levels offer stunning views . The village has several bars, restaurants & shops. Bus service available to the local town. Beach has 3 bars/restaurants and is just a 25 min walk. Definitely be back. As the advert says it is real Spain by the coast.

    Really loved Portman, very quiet(except during festival time) old mining village. Pool was never busy and it is a short drive to La Manga Club for evenings out. Definitely need a car. Would stay again very friendly.

    The apartment was very nice with everything you need for your stay. The village of Portman is a small Spanish village, but has everything required, supermarket, a selection of bars and restaurants, the beach is nice (approx 20 min walk), communal pool was nice size and not to crowded. La Manga club is only 5 min taxi ride away approx 10 euro's. We enjoyed our 10 days relaxing. The owner is very helpful, all through the booking process and during the stay, also has an English contact in the village if required and did our airport transfers. Supplied a lot of detailed info prior to our stay which we found very useful.

    The property is in a quiet location, truly spanish, and is very well equipped with beach umbrellas, screw in bases, hammock, Tupperware, washing machine, clothes line and pegs. Every detail has been considered. Home from home.

    Very clean and modern. Well equipped kitchen and air conditioning in all rooms. Comfortable beds and no disturbances at night. Nice big terrace with sun shade. Very well kept yard and pool area with gardens and sun loungers. Pool big, fairly deep and not too crowded. We also loved the little beach next to the sea food restaurant. Genuine Spanish village away from the crowded tourist areas, but still very close to reach by car, surrounded by mountains and sea. The area felt very safe. Easy check in and management nearby to contact if needed. We will be back!
