Private Downtown Apt, King Bed, Jet Bath, Fireplace, Grill, near Indiana Dunes

The location was great. The downtown area was just down the street and the downtown was darling. Also very close to Dunes and just a mile or so from all the chain restaurants if you prefer those. The apartment itself could use some love. It had an odd smell - I thought it was paint, my partner thought it was mold/mildew. The AC did not work in the bedroom and the shower door was so ill fitting it leaked terribly. The attached building seemed to be under repair w holes in the ceiling. I recommend a Google street view before reserving the spot. It was clean and the bed was comfortable and the big screen TVs were great. Would stay again if the attached building was updated/renovated and mold/mildew smell is gone.

IT WAS A BIG APT.......DIDN'T LIKE THAT YOU HAD TO USE YOUR ACCOUNTS TO WATCH TV AND THE HOT TUB DID NOT WORK........ BUT DON WAS GOOD ABOUT GETTING BACK TO US ON IT AND WE WOULD STAY AGAIN NOW THAT WE KNOW ABOUT THE TV AND HOPE HOT TUB IS WORKING THEN........... GREAT PRICE FOR ALL YOU GET AND CLOSE TO EVERYTHING.

Checking in was easy. I couldn't get the jets to turn on in the tub. Overall it was money well spent.

Donnie was so kind, and was very prompt with responding. It was a very cute space with plenty of amenities. Would definitely recommend to others.

Kitchen was equipped with almost everything you needed, first thing when I entered I thought the house was really clean, until I checked the bed sheets and pillows, stains and hair everywhere, hot tub legit had a hairball in it, shower filled with dirt and hair. Although check in and check out was a breeze.

Great place for the price, nice location to restaurants and attractions. Communication with the owners was seamless. Spacious rooms .No issues parking on the street. The train is close by but did not bother us . Definitely recommended.

Hot tub was working great, air conditioning great, quite roomy, with a full kitchen.

The property has some opportunity for finishing or upgrading, just a few little things; but overall very adequate. Loved the roominess and easy access to downtown dining and activities, as well as closeness to Dunes parks. I would stay again; appreciated the cleanliness as well.

It was perfect. Was able to go to the Dunes and walk around downtown.

Very clean, host was very responsive. Bed was comfy. Only thing I would change is sending check in/check out before. I didn't notice the binder until the morning after check in. But I also could have read it sooner.

Great location close to Dunes and downtown Chesterton. Could use mirror in bathroom and new showerhead. Otherwise clean and comfortable.

The location and parking were perfect. The owner communication was excellent and they were accommodating to our needs! Unfortunately, there is a water damage/must smell that is overpowering throughout the unit. We could’ve used a couple more towels and an extra blanket as well.

Size, decor and cleanliness of this apartment were wonderful. It had everything we needed. Be aware that while this might be considered downtown, it's not part of the cute downtown picture in the listing, it's actually in a building a couple blocks from there. I guess from the listing, this location was not what we expected, and it felt uncomfortable for my mother in law when we pulled up and one of the doors to the building is hanging open with a chair in the vestibule. Didn't make it feel as secure. You have to enter through a small hallway, which also had a lot of doors. Certainly met our needs, but would have felt better if we had seen these pictures to decide if we felt good staying.

I stayed one night in this apartment and had a great experience. The town is cute, the location is perfect, just a short drive from the Indiana Dunes, and the place was clean and convenient for a quick trip. The host communicated clearly and promptly, which made everything easy. Highly recommend!

Great place for the price! Accurate description. Perfect location near downtown and not far from beach. Plenty of great restaurants near by. If I had any complaints they would be nitpicking: There’s a train near by that runs every hour through the night, but a sound machine can solve that. The bed frame was pretty squeaky. Real clean apartment though, and no neighbors which was super nice!

Loved this town and the Rental !

Entryway has a distinct smell. Carpet throughout also has a smell. It would be a huge improvement to replace and deal with the mildew smell. Jet tub did not work. Also, it would be helpful to include a picture of the actual entry, as the outside looks like a dojo or simply state the property shares entry with commercial property.

Pictures can’t capture the overwhelming smell of mold and mildew that hits you when you open the door; and the train tracks that are 25 yards away with a steady train every 15 minutes; 50 would be more appropriate; but 165 with all the fees; We won’t be back;

Nice getaway from Chicago!

Great location and no complaints about our stay. Complimentary coffee/tea, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash was nice. Property manager, Don, responded quickly.

Nice quiet an around everything

I booked this stay as a birthday gift for my son. He and his fiancé stayed for 2 nights/3 days. They absolutely enjoyed there stay. The place was clean and just like the pictures displayed. They had an issue with the code not working to enter the property, Don the host got in touch with us immediately and even refunded some money for the inconvenience! I will definitely be booking again for my daughters birthday!!

Extremely hard to find the front entrance and the address listed is not the exact location. Once we entered and looked around, the couch had popcorn in the couch and was very dirty. The shower door doesn’t close all the way and mold was on the wall by the shower. My husband filled up the bath tub and it ran the hot water out so we had to wait an hour to take a shower. A train must be right beside the apartment and blew its horn all night. I would never stay at this place ever again.

We are trouble checking in and had to message the owner to get a code to check in. Then you couldn't see anything because there were no lights outside and it was dark when we arrived. Soon as you open the door to the foyer you are smacked in the face by the smell of mold! Obviously they're aware of an issue because there were two air purifiers and the one bedroom apartment. Then the whirlpool tub which was the main reason we rented it, would only fill halfway before running out of hot water and would barely cover the jets. The electric fireplace would not light. And the trains go by every 10 minutes or less. The main reason I would not stay here is the mold smell is overwhelming and it burnt my nostrils and woke me up in the middle of the night making me sick! bad!Smellpointinexperwhirlpomornburni

Property located within walking distance of downtown Chesterton & many local restaurants (& European market on Saturday). Bed very comfortable, fully equipped kitchen, large tvs in living room & bedroom, owner communicated well, parking right outside front door, comfortable temperature throughout unit. Missing a few light bulbs (nightstand & bedroom vanity), missing trim in a few places, bathroom missing tile/ trim, extra door locked from another side in bathroom, shower door doesn’t close well, unit smelled a bit musty. Would stay again. Overall great value.

Property was exactly as described. Super cute and cozy. Excellent little getaway spot close to everything. Host was very responsive and easy to communicate with! We will definitely be staying there again when we are back in town!

Good location for exploring the dunes, beaches and parks. Many restaurants are walkable or short drive, including grocery store. Very clean and is as described in Verbo listing. Would definitely stay there again!

My daughter and I were visiting colleges in the area, but also wanted to check out the Dunes. The apartment was perfectly suited to meet your needs. The bed was comfortable, kitchen had all we needed for our short stay, and wifi was good! While there were earplugs provided, the property is very close to the railroad tracks. I may have counted 10 trains in the night. If you have sleep buds, bring them. Therefore 4 stars for location and listing. The train tracks are very active day and night. Otherwise, the stay was just what we needed. The low cleaning fees are appreciated and the required duties are light and very reasonable. Thanks for a good stay!! We would stay again!

This is the perfect cozy spot. The proximity to whatever you might me interested in exploring is within a 5 minute walk or a 20 minute drive. We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend staying here. Don is an attentive and informative host. I am sure we will be back.

This was the perfect spot for visiting friends in the area. Close to the beach, restaurants, shopping, etc. Host was very easy to get ahold of. The place looked exactly like the photos and matched the description perfectly. Other reviewers complained about traffic/train noise. I didn't notice that at all. My suggestion is to pack earplugs if you are a light sleeper.

This is a great location for state park beaches. The apartment was clean, we felt safe and the whirlpool tub ended the day with a relaxing, sleep inducing treat.

We pulled up to the 'corporate' building apartment. The glider and grill are right at the edge of the street sidewalk. Once inside everything was as the web pictures described. But as we entered the bedroom we noticed an odd smell, and once in the bathroom the smell was overwhelming. It smelled like mold. One of us started gagging and couldn't breath. There were two air purifiers in the apartment with one being in the bedroom. We contacted the host and stated that we could not stay and breath such strong odors. He commented that they had never had water issues. Maybe the smell was from the 'area' that led off the bathroom where a locked door was. He offered their home, but we had no idea what it was like or if cameras were in place - did not feel comfortable. The insurance we purchased did not cover this situation and we were out the money for the three nights.

My husband and I stayed for two nights while on a business combined with pleasure trip. The jetted tub was a great perk in this spacious apartment! The king size bed was very comfortable — woke up feeling refreshed!

Owner was easy to work with.

We had a good stay overall, but the cleaning staff was still working when we arrived at check-in time. The cleaning staff returned to remove cleaning supplies without our knowledge while we were bathing in the adjacent room. We noticed the missing supplies but were not notified of the staff’s return. We brought up the privacy concern to the host a few days later after we checked out of the apartment. The host apologized and said that he instructed the staff to return to finish cleaning, but if privacy is a priority, you may feel more comfortable at a different listing.

The property is in a great location- plenty of shops and food places you can walk too HOWEVER, the hours of these vary. Make sure to plan ahead that they will be open. Owner reached out halfway through our stay to make sure we didn’t need anything. The coffee maker was broken and he replaced it the same day. Property owners talk about how they charge a very minimal fee for cleaning unlike other hosts, which you can tell. Their cleaning fee is for washing bedding/towels and “sterilization”. You could tell the floors have not been vacuumed for a long time. I messaged the host to get a vacuum cleaner. He then acted like it was my responsibility to vacuum, which I don’t mind, but he had it hidden in a locked closet and didn’t say anything about it until I asked. Also this property is right beside a train track- if you’re a light sleeper, you will be woken up multiple times throughout the night.
