There are 4 other units in the building but are separated from this apartment which is in a separate wing. The other tenants are courteous and quiet.
Although the apartment building is located in town, the backyard has a rural feel. There are many acres of forested trails that you are welcome to walk. All the houses in the neighborhood are owned by the same owner who lives on the homestead and is dedicated to providing a safe and well maintained campus.
The neighborhood was established in the mid 1800’s when the lumber trade was flourishing and logs were driven down the Union River. The historic buildings remain today most notably the Union Congregational Church which is still in service and is adjacent to the campus.
We are always available to provide anything you need for a comfortable stay but also understand that folks need privacy and their own space. We have made every effort to make this an affordable place where you can relax and feel at home.
This property is part of a large homestead including other buildings, gardens, lawns, trails and forest. If you are looking for lodging for a large group, we have three houses on campus on VRBO.
A small mature and well behaved dog is allowed for $100 per stay subject to certain house rules. Please let us know if you are bringing a dog in advance.
The property is great and kept up with pride. The extra care and touches are evident. We both came with some sort of a nasty flu so not having to worry about the breakfast was awesome. Loved the flowers on the back porch, the arrangements in the front window pots. Netflix was awesome as we continued with the season 5 of Peaky Blinders. The beds are super comfy, and everything is pristine. I don't write reviews often except when people truly deserve them. You definitely do. Thank you for everything and we look forward to coming back. Sincerely, Michelle and Duke. Charlotte
Denise was wonderful to work with and added some homey touches for us. The blueberry pie was wonderful. There was a fresh loaf of bread as well as eggs in the fridge for us to use. The apartment was roomy and so much nicer then spending time in a small hotel room. Easy access and close to everything.
This place has more than just basics. Beyond clean and comfortable, small details made it great for a week stay. Treats in the refrigerator, lots of hangers in the closet, detergent for the laundry (next door), cooler, clear and detailed instructions, and much more.
Denise and David's home was a perfect stay for me and my fiance! It offered all of the comforts of home and led to a very relaxing vacation. And what a welcome relief that we could bring our dog! The house is just 6 minutes away from the center of town, offering a quiet respite with easy access to all that Ellsworth and Acadia offer. It is also right at the end of a rail-trail, perfect for biking or walking to/from town. The grounds are expansive, and we (especially the dog) loved watching the ducks parade to the small pond in the back yard every morning while we sipped our coffee on the sunny porch. You could tell that Denise emphasized maintaining the property well, as everything from the house to the grass was pristine and well-kept. Denise was a consummate and caring host, even taking care to cover my bicycles with a tarp in the rain. She made the whole process simple and communicated clearly and actively. We could not say enough about our stay!
The place was comfortable and clean, We had lots of fun.
The house location very central, the house itself was comfortable and everything you could need was anticipated. All in all I will be back. Thanks
Upon our arrival in Denise's property, we were greeted by a first assortment of groceries like muffins, eggs and milk and most importantly coffee :-). The place was spotless and very spacious. We had plenty of room to store our luggage. Since we were out exploring the area most of the time, we did not use the patio for example, but we can imagine that the backyard would be great for people who would spend more time at the property. The location of the place is easy to find once you figured out how google maps interprets the dead end street. Ellsworth is nicely located to explore Acadia and also all the other peninsulas in the area. If you are not solely focused on Acadia, I would argue that its hard to beat Ellsworth. Compared to the prices of little cabins and hotel rooms in the area, the appartment is a little more expensive, but considering the location, the cleanliness and the amenities like a full-stocked kitchen, big fridge, big bathroom etc, well worth the money. We would definitely stay here again :-).
We had a great time! We especially appreciated the welcome and accommodations made for our beloved senior dachshund traveling companion. Highly recommend this place!
Would love to be back!
We used this apartment as a jumping-off point, not only to Acadia National Park, but also up the northeast coast toward Canada for a day trip. We arrived to find lots of goodies, including farm fresh eggs, milk, orange juice, and pie waiting for us. And we had plenty of seclusion, but the owners were always easily accessible when we had a question. One tip - check out the notebook when you arrive. It's got lots of great information about what's close and what's good in the area, and you'll be better off if you spend 5 minutes with that information when you arrive. This place is about 20-30 minutes from Acadia (maybe more, depending on traffic), but to be away from the crowds, and in a spacious apartment with lots of room, in the evening was well worth it.
Denise made our arrival so pleasant! We had travelled a long distance ahead of a snow storm and she couldn't have been more thoughtful in many ways. Plus she left us eggs from their chickens, muffins, homemade syrup, and more. The apartment was clean and had everything we needed to make a few meals in. Thank you, Denise! We will definitely be back!
We stayed here in October and we loved it! Most important for us—the place was very clean! It was convenient to all attractions (15-30 minutes). Denise left us all the staples—fresh milk, eggs, bread, butter, juice and a yummy rhubarb pie! Well stocked with everything else you would have at home. Towels and linens seemed new, and the apartment was roomy yet cozy. Perfect place to stay. Thank you Denise for everything! Look forward to staying again!
The apartment was great, as was the location. It was worth the short drive from the park to get away from the crowds to this peaceful retreat. The owner was very nice and welcoming, she even made sure we had some basic supplies like milk, bread, eggs and coffee in the fridge when we got there. I would definitely recommend this rental as a home base to explore the area.
