São Vicente is a municipality located in the north of Madeira Island. It has a pleasant and picturesque village located in one of the most beautiful valleys in Madeira. About 10 minutes, walking, and 3 minutes if you choose to go by car, you will find the famous São Vicente Caves, discovered in 1885. These are the best underground lava channels found in Madeira and are the result of an eruption that occurred some 400,000 years ago. On site you can enjoy a guided tour. In the village you can also visit the mother church dedicated to São Vicente and built in the 17th century. The ceiling is made up of magnificent paintings, one of which shows São Vicente blessing the village. You can visit the Cultural Promotion Center where numerous exhibitions take place and the Garden of Indigenous Plants. The picturesque Vila São Vicente has several free parking lots and a covered parking that is paid. It has a square with permanent taxis. If you choose public transport, there are several careers run by the company Rodoeste. 400 meters from the accommodation you will find the sea and the famous Calhau de São Vicente with several restaurants and other shops.
