Lapeer, Michigan
Hi. Thank you for looking at our space. Let me give you some idea of what we are offering. We built our home a few years ago from the ground up with this apartment in mind. We have a full walk out basement and sectioned off half of it to create Peaceful Suite. It is completely sectioned off like a normal apartment with its own exterior entrance. You will have a new, complete 2 bedroom apartment that can sleep up to 6 using the 2 queen beds, the couch (not a pullout), and our single person cot. Each bedroom has an electric fireplace for warmth and ambiance. The kitchen is very well equipped to meet your needs conveniently with dishes, cookware, utensils, coffee, and all new appliances, etc. You have a full size washer and dryer for your laundry needs, please bring detergent and softener.
You can enjoy the great outdoors during all seasons. It’s a beautiful, peaceful location during the summer with all the fun of lake play. In the fall, we have colorful foliage and brisk, fresh air as you gaze upon or play on the lake. In winter, it's a winter wonderland to build snowmen, forts and snow angels plus a frozen lake for ice fishing. We also have a nice hill for sledding for the little ones. Then come back in for hot coco by the fire. And last, but not least, spring is a great time to watch life restart and get out there for some paddling around in kayaks. We also have a fire pit area for bonfires all year round. So bring your hot dogs, marshmallows and sticks, and enjoy dinner and dessert by the lake. We have wood available for $10/bundle.
We have a natural shoreline along the edge of a living lake. We have added a dock with a kayak/canoe launch. So now you can more easily play in and on the lake. There is room to tie up your boats as well. You can sit and enjoy the breeze off the lake, do some fishing, swimming, relaxing while watching the sunset, etc.
You will have your own private entrance with an electronic door lock. I will send you the lock code shortly before your arrival. There is room for 2 vehicles. Others may park in the gravel overflow parking along the road to North of the driveway.
We have a nice dock with a kayak launcher. We have 3 kayaks, 1 paddle boat that seats 4, and 4 inflatable tubes available for rent for fun on the lake, or bring your own lake toys and vehicles.
We welcome longer stays. If you are looking to stay quite a while, we offer a nice discount and would love to have ya.
Your area of our house is separated from the upstairs. So you can stay private or visit with us. We are a friendly family of three and welcome you to join with us while you are here. Our goal is to make your visit as comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable as possible. We also respect your time and privacy.
We live in a quiet lake community. Even though its an all sports lake, it is a private lake, and so its usually very quiet and peaceful. The most activity I've seen on the lake at a time is 2 boats and 2 jet skis. :) Most of the time its just quiet with an occasional pontoon boat going by.
You can go for a nice walk along the quiet roads and catch glimpses of the lake between the homes. The foliage can be beautiful as well. And be sure to catch the sunsets over the lake. It all combines to create some great memories of your stay here.
We are located just off a main road, so getting to stores, etc is quite easy. We are close (3 miles or so) to local shopping and parks. If you want to venture a little further, almost anything you can want is available in Flint, including General Motors (15 miles). We are close to dog events in Lapeer (7 miles), and, Frankenmuth/Bronners/Birch Run (33 miles) . There are 3 hospitals (for students and residents) within 10-30 minutes of our home. The highway is only 2 turns away from our home. We are about 20 miles from Bishop Airport and can provide transportation if you need.
Important information & House Rules:
**Smoke Free/Fresh Air**
Our home is a smoke free environment. There is to be no smoking or vaping in or near the home. Please do not burn incense or use any other strong, lingering scent in the home. If you want to smoke, please go to the designated smoking area/sitting area, near the parking spaces. Place all butts in the butt bucket provided and all trash in the trash cans. IMPORTANT: Give yourself a few extra moments to air out afterwards before entering the house. The smell really gets into the fabrics and upholstery. No cooking of seafood or fish in the house. You may use the grill outside.
$250 extra cleaning fee for violations.
**Quiet Time**
There are others living here as well. So out of respect for all, we ask that noise be kept down at all times and quiet time be observed between 10PM and 8AM.
**Air Conditioning**
A/C is owner controlled. Here’s why … We have central air, so that means just one setting for the whole house. The temp is set to suit most people (~75-77⁰F) as there are others in the home. So, there will be no adjustments for individual preference. It’s naturally nice and cooler in the apartment, plus there are fans for extra circulation if desired. We run the A/C usually just on really hot, muggy days. The rest of the time, we enjoy the fresh air. To keep it cooler in the apartment, I suggest you close the windows and curtains on days when it will be hot, especially during the late afternoon when the sun is shining into the windows. Then open it back up later in the evening for fresh, cooler air.
**Heat**
There is a fireplace in each room. The main living room fire is controlled with the thermostat on the wall nearby. Don’t adjust any knobs, etc on the fireplace itself. The controls for the bedroom heaters are indicated on each unit for your convenience.
**Pets**
• You are responsible for your pets at all times. They are not to be left here unattended (alone) at any time without prior authorization. In other words, they go with you when you leave the property, play on the lake, etc.
• You are required to use protective furniture covers on living room furniture. Some are provided in the living room closet.
• There is a high probability of other dogs being on property. So please use common sense in restraining your dogs. Leashes are strongly recommended. Not all dogs get along with other dogs. Not all owners want other dogs near theirs. Better safe than sorry.
• If you let your pets swim in the lake, please bathe them with the hose & shampoo and dry them VERY well prior to going inside.
• Clean up any messes. Cleaner and tools are provided. They are located in kitchen and closet.
• Dog Poo – You are expected to pick up after your dog outside. No one wants to step in poo.
**TV**
There is a TV in the living room. The remote is on the shelf in front of it. We don’t have cable. Just our movie collection and apps. Some apps are free, others can be used when you log in with your account info. Don’t forget to log out before you leave. See channels pages here in the guide for more information.
**Laundry**
You are welcome to use the washer and drier. Please bring your own supplies. The washer is a high efficiency unit, so you only need a tablespoon of soap and a tablespoon of softener per load. Double check that all your socks, little items, etc. are going home with you. They can get caught under the rubber liner around the tub inside the door. The white cabinets above the laundry machines are for owners use only. There is also a clothes line on the support posts outside your entry door.
**Lake Fun**
• All lake fun is at your own risk. There is no life guard on duty. We are not responsible for injury or lost/damaged property. I never thought I would need to say this, but Watch Your Kids! We want everyone safe and happy.
• Dock: Guests are welcome to use the dock. The water is about 5 feet deep off the far side of the dock, and it gets deeper from there.
• Boats: Guests are welcome to moor boats alongside the dock.
• Fishing: You are technically required to have a fishing license. We haven’t had a problem so far, but I’m just letting you know that DNR does come out on the lake sometimes, and could request to see your license.
• Kayaks: We have 3 blue kayaks available for rental. They are $25/Kayak/Day. If you are interested in renting these, please contact Lisa. If you are interested in renting this, please contact Lisa.
• Paddle Boat: We have a 4-seat paddle boat available for rent. It is $25/Day.
• Tubes: We have 4 inflatable tubes available for rent to float around on the lake. There are no oars. They are $10/Tube/Day. If you are interested in renting these, please contact Lisa.
• Life Vests: We also have life vests available, included in rental fees.
• All rentals are first come, first serve. We will likely have other guests in other areas of the house, so book early.
• Firewood: For your convenience, we have firewood available for sale. It is $10/bundle. Please contact Lisa.
**Check Out**
• Check out is 11 am. Late checkout will result in an extra day fee unless preapproved.
• Please place all used towels & washcloths in the laundry basket.
• Please strip the used beds and place all used sheets and pillow cases in the laundry basket on top of the towels. Leave used blankets and quilts on the bed. The basket gets too heavy with all of it in there at once. : )
• Please rinse all dishes, put them in dishwasher and run it before you check out.
• Please return the TV remote to its place in front of the TV.
• Please remove your All trash and drop it in the garbage can in the parking area beside the garage.
• Please share about your stay in our welcome guide. We love feedback. : )
• : ) Please send me a message when you leave so we know it’s safe to begin the cleaning. : )
Thank you!!
Welcome to Peaceful Suite in our home. We are happy to have you here and hope you enjoy your stay.
We stayed for 4 nights while we were visiting with family in the area. It was a good choice for us. It was obvious that Lisa had put a lot of thought into making it a comfortable place to stay. It's off the main road in a quiet neighborhood. The kitchen is well equipped. The beds are comfortable. We would definitely consider staying there again if we are in the area.
We stayed with Lisa while visiting family about an hour away. The setting was very pretty. We saw geese on the lake the first morning. It was nice to have a comfortable place to return to after spending time with family. My dogs were welcome there too which is a big plus for me.
Beautiful view and wonderful private area very quiet... Highly recommend..
My sister and I, both over 65, spent a few days in this peaceful, lovely place. The view of the lake, green grass and trees was wonderful. The kitchen was very well-equipped and the appliances are top notch. We were also quite close to some nice restaurants in Davison. My niece, her husband, and 2 kids (ages 2 and 3) loved it. Their parents took them out in the paddle boat and they played in the large yard. Great place for children. Lisa (the host) was available, but never intrusive. We would stay there again.
my family and I enjoyed it quite a bit, and my two dogs were able to run and swim at the lake. We kayaked and admired the sunset at night. The rent was affordable, and the accommodations were upstanding. We were greeted with a warm welcome, making the place feel like home.
From booking to check-out, everything was top notch. The property was clean and had everything we needed. We definitely plan to stay again.
Apt was clean and comfortable. Owner was friendly and available . We were disappointed in the lake. It was not a lake you would want to swim in. I was not aware the site was pet friendly, aggravated allergies.
We had an amazing time at Lisa's place! We pulled up, parked in one of our two designated parking spots, and made our way toward the back of house, where the private entrance to our little apartment was, and ran right into Lisa. We had a nice short chat and she showed us around, and then we continued to get settled in. The apartment was very clean and well kept, with labels all around to let you know where things were and what switches control what—a great touch! We enjoyed playing with our dog in the spacious backyard, where we also had a nice cookout or two, as weather permitted. We also got to witness a pretty sunset on the smooth-as-glass lake, and the patio made for a nice, peaceful place to relax and read our books. The location is close enough to make a nice day trip out to Detroit (1h15m), Ann Arbor (1h), or Frankenmuth (45m), and we took advantage of that. We would definitely recommend Lisa's place to anyone looking to have a nice Michigan getaway, especially those who want to bring along their furry friend! :)
Well thought out amenities from the property owner. We really enjoyed the dock, kayak launch, fire pit and covered patio. Overall we were very pleased with our stay.
very comfortable with full kitchen and laundry on site.
