Oceanfront Gorgeous 2br Getaway in Departure Bay - 3 Steps to the Beach!

This upper room/loft is ideally located on the shore of beautiful Departure Bay, and provides for a great starting point to explore the east coast of the Island. Comfortable beds in two separate sleeping areas was appreciated, as well as the fully functional kitchen.The room is accessed through a private entrance and up a flight of stairs. Guests should also bring along a comfy pair of house slippers for the hardwood floors.

Clean rooms and comfortable beds . Beautiful view from one bedroom overlooking ocean . Kitchen was ok however we felt we did not have enough cupboards space for the length of our space. Great space for short stays 2-4 days . We stayed 3 months and we felt we ran out of space . First time staying in a space overtop of landlord , not my preference , I felt very conscious on my every step. Furniture in front room not comfortable for older adults . Host tried to keep contact throughout stay and make sure we were ok and to provide guidelines which was disruptive again due to being in her home on top floor she was very concerned about conditions of her floors and bedding . Not my idea situation and I will make sure my next booking is NOT upstairs of landlords . My preference is to be in separate space from landlords.

Beautiful view and lovely property!

Such a wonderful place! Ken & Taaje were wonderful hosts. The unit is very spacious with privacy for each bedroom. Sheets, towels, blankets and pillows are all very high quality and every detail has been taken care of. We would definitely stay there again! Hearing the waves in the beach at night was fabulous!

The suite was clean and quiet. The ocean view balcony off the master bedroom was the ideal place to watch the sunrise every morning!

The Randle House apartment is gorgeous! Clean, beautifully spacious and wonderfully furnished. Our bed was comfortable' with quality linens. bathroom was clean with fluffy towels and never-ending hot water.The view is spectacular with Vancouver in the distance and BC ferries arriving and departing.Peaceful and serene and yet close enough to downtown for convenience.Taaja was most solicitous for our welfare and is a gracious host.The apartment is self contained with a separate entrance.The apartment is impeccably clean and well equipped.It's not a negative, but older guests or the mobility impaired need to be aware of the access stairs.When we return to Nanaimo, this will be the place we stay!Biggest problem was making the decision of which bedroom to use!!!!

We were very pleased with our stay at Randle House! The location is second to none being on the ocean and only steps away from the beach. Trajan and Ken are great hosts and the accommodation was exactly as described.

We had a wonderful stay at this Departure Bay studio in Nanaimo. The location is fantastic—easy to access and close to everything, with truly amazing views. The space itself is cozy, comfortable, and beautifully decorated and furnished, making it feel like home right away.The only note to mention is that the studio is accessed by a narrow flight of stairs. This wasn’t a problem but it could be a bit challenging for elderly guests or those with limited mobility.Overall, we loved our stay and would definitely recommend this spot for anyone visiting Nanaimo!Thank you, Taaja and family!

Beautiful property, great location, very clean and everything that you need for a stay. A couple of the days that we stayed, it was very hot and the suite was very hot. If there was air conditioning(as advertised) it was not obvious. The host was great and overall a good stay.

Great stay. Perfect location

This is my second stay at this VRBO and find the suite and ocean setting to be lovely. The suite is clean and well appointed to support basic meal preparation. The location at departure bay beach is great with easy access to refreshing dips in the ocean and viewing of the marine activity in Departure Bay. Taaja is very accommodating and easy to deal with.This unit gets wonderful cross breezes through the windows but is not equipped with AC. I would recommend this unit.

Beautiful place.

We attended a family wedding in Nanaimo,BC. We selected this accommodation based on proximity to family and the fact that it is waterfront. It was exactly as promised. The space and furnishings were comfortable. There were only two of us but it can sleep 4. My husband picked the larger bed and bedroom but it didn’t take long to establish preference for the smaller bedroom with double glass doors to the sea. We slept with the doors open every night thereafter. The hosts were visible but not intrusive. My husband was very pleased with the hot shower and good water pressure. The kitchen is adequate and well stocked. The only downside is the 17 steps to the second floor from the private entrance. In true European tradition, all shoes are left in the entry and socks and house shoes worn in the apartment. The location is superb. It’s a beach walk to the Drip, a coffee and sandwich shop. Public busses stop nearby but a vehicle is recommended. It’s a small community but not walkable to stores or downtown. We hope for a return visit the next time we travel to BC.

The Randle House is a wonderful place to stay. Perfect location, clean, quiet and all the comforts of home. The convenience of the private entrance and enjoying the bay front balcony from the bedroom were excellent. Communication with the property owners before and during our stay was great. We would absolutely stay here again.

We had a wonderful stay with Taaja. The apartment is really complete, good beds and a wonderfull view. The wifi is not perfect but sufficient for our needs. Clean and cosy.

Nice and quiet right on the beach. Very central if your interested in exploring areas around Nanaimo.

So happy with our stay - this exceeded all expectations. It is much larger than expected, spotlessly clean and beautifully quiet. The kitchen was well-equipped with plenty of utensils, which made cooking convenient when we weren't discovering restaurants. The location was picturesque, truly steps from the beach with amazing views and peaceful surroundings. Taaja and Ken were the best hosts imaginable. They are extremely friendly, thoughtful and considerate, and every one of their recommendations were spot-on.Highly recommend-this was one of our best travel experiences to date!

Taaja is an excellent host, very thoughtful and caring, making sure that we were comfortable while also giving us privacy. With a separate outside entrance, the upstairs apartment itself is excellent, very comfortable, and better than the photos. Everything is done in very good taste, blending new fixtures with antique accents. There is plenty of closet space and room to spread out - wonderful for our 4-day weekend, or much longer. The place was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed for a very enjoyable stay, with a well appointed kitchen, and a brand new large oven and huge glass cooktop stove which is not apparent in the photos. It was an easy 10 minute drive to downtown Nanaimo (where we really enjoyed Mon Petit Choux for breakfast!), yet it felt like we were far away in a tranquil oasis breathing the sea air as we watched the nearby ferries sail by in Departure Bay... Thank you Taaja for being a wonderful host and for making this lovely apartment available!

Amazing large two bedroom apartment with a view second to none To open up the balcony doors to see float planes as well as bc ferries docking with morning coffee was so peaceful Unit has everything you need for a long or short stay and Taaja is an amazing host Recommend this to anyone looking to find a little slice of heaven :)

Cosy nest right on the bay-we watched the ships and ferries going by. Very conveniently located for exploring the island. Tasha had some great recommendations for things to do and places to eat - every one was a winner.

Very nice VRBO. Clean, well situated, great support from on site owners. No AC in unit as advertised, but decent cross breezes in the unit at night. Kitchen is equipped for basic cooking. Overall an excellent stay.

Absolute gem. Balcony view of Bay where we could watch resident seal! Beautiful lawn on waterfront to enjoy morning coffee/evening cocktail. Convenient location to explore the entire island. Nicely furnished with many thoughtful details. Quiet with convenient parking.

The property is exactly as it is described. Right on the beach. The view from the balcony is beautiful and constantly fascinating as ferries, kayaks, seaplanes and sailboats come in go in bay. The owners Taaja and Ken were helpful and friendly while still providing for our privacy. Excellent experience.

The host was very friendly n made us feel at home. Loved the view, the house was awesome. Beds were very comfortable living room furniture not so much. Unfortunately no air conditioning as mentioned, but managed cooling the place down by opening windows n letting the breeze in.

Sadly our travel plans changed at the last minute and we were unable to stay, Taaja communicated well and we are looking forward to staying there in the near future.
