Stayed Nov 12, 2025On the positive, the location is very good, near restaurants and the piazza. On the negative, contact with the host was sporadic and slow. There was painting going on in the building of which we were not advised, and which made it difficult at times to move through the halls and stairwells. The temperature cannot be controlled in the unit and it was cold, after I complained I was told the temperature was increased but the thermostat was unchanged and it remained cold (I am from a fairly cold climate and keep my home cool - this was cold). For the off-season there was a surprising amount of noise coming from the street until 0100-0200. Additionally, I found the mattress to be uncomfortable.

Stayed Oct 18, 2025The apartment was dark, adequately furnished and comfortable. The host seemed hurried and not particularly friendly or helpful.

Stayed Oct 5, 2025Recommend with some caveats. The apartment itself is lovely, very well situated and easy to find once we were in the old town. We found the host helpful on arrival, check in was smooth. Communication in advance was below typical VRBO standards to the point where we wondered if we even had a reservation. In every other stay in Europe we received communication 3 days before arrival; it was not the case this time. This creates considerable uncertainty when travelling and was pretty frustrating. That said, we enjoyed our stay and the unit itself was bright , sunny and spacious. The host friendly and accommodating once we arrived.

Stayed Mar 23, 2025On the plus side:Nonna Papa is in an excellent location, just a few minutes from the main square in Siena. It is spacious and would sleep 4 people comfortably. It was clean and there were great views from the windows. There is a very good restaurant 2 doors away, Osteria al Vicolo - we ate there 3 times. There were however some negative aspects:On 2 nights there was a lot of noise from the street below, probably a nightclub, which went on until 3am - bring earplugs. The kitchen was lacking in some items - there were only 4 mugs and 2 wine glasses - a few more of these are needed. There was a lack of power sockets in the kitchen, and the toaster was not in good condition. There were no smoke detectors and no fire extinguisher in the apartment - I think recent legislation will make these compulsory in Italian holiday lets. We had to ask for bags for the garbage and we were given some black bags - they are supposed to be yellow, green and purple.Overall though, we enjoyed our stay and we would stay at Nonna Papa again.

Stayed Oct 24, 2024We were able to walk all over Siena and loved our location. Also, one of the reasons we stay in VRBO's is that we get a chance to get a feel of what it is like to live like in a citizen in the community. IThis unit has a great view of rooftops and of the tower in the main square. You are living among the residents of the building. We loved that! The only thing I would have older people take note of is that the rooms are a step down or step up or half a step down, or half a step up to other parts of the unit. This may only be a problem if maneuvering steps in the middle of the night might be a problem. .

Stayed Jun 3, 2024We had a too brief stay overnight in Siena. The apartment was lovely. Great location. Quiet at night - although the church bells did toll hourly until midnight and began again about 6am. Beautiful. Wonderful views. Kitchen well supplied with all necessities. Unfortunately, the en-suite toilet did not work but everything else was good. Be prepared to climb stairs up to the apartment. We would return and stay again! Thanks for hosting us.

Stayed May 21, 2024My son and I were visiting Siena and booked this apartment based on spaciousness and location. That did not disappoint. What did disappoint was as follows: - there were no pillow cases on the master bedroom pillows - the second day we were there, there was no hot water until later in the day - ice cold morning shower - the third day the water was shut off entirely for a short time with no advance warning other than a knock on our door by a plumber - much of the glassware in the kitchen cabinets were dirty - the hosts were unresponsive to our messages through their preferred method of communication and it took a couple days to get pillow cases and answers on other issues like light bulbs that were out in one of the bathrooms and outside our front door which was not the best coming home in the evening -overall, despite the great location and an apartment with a lot of potential and charm, the stay was disappointing and not worth the nightly rate that was charged - I hope these issues can be improved for others and that better experiences will be had in the future.

Stayed Jul 24, 2023Thx was a very beautiful place only 1 block from Piazza del Campo. I would definitely come here again but maybe in spring or fall. I missed that it had no AC and unfortunately for us Italy was having extreme heat wave. The hosts were great.

Stayed Apr 28, 2022The host had great communication and prepared with info to help make your stay enjoyable. Long walk to apartment from bus drop off but easier going back with luggage. Recommend taxi to apartment or taking several breaks if taking the bus and you have a lot of luggage. Apartment was spacious with large bedrooms and two eating spaces. Shower and bath is a good size but lacks some shelving for toiletries. Both bedrooms offer a view when standing at window. Right in the action of historic center. Be prepared for bells, drums, and singing. Recommended for a wonderful stay.
