Levanto, a city of pre-Roman origins, lies at the far north of the seductive villages of the Cinque Terre. The name Levanto derives from the medieval Latin levantem, oriente, in the sense of place that is located to the east of Genoa.
The town of Levanto has an interesting old town, many beautiful painted villas, a lively Wednesday market, good restaurants and shops. In the main square, Piazza della Loggia, there is a lovely 13th century loggia.
Levanto boasts a particularly mild climate. The long sandy beach is ideal for all beach activities. It is a great base for surfers, who come from all over Europe. Also on the beach, there is a swimming pool and a scuba diving center. In the summer there are many concerts and live music events. Every year the “Laura Film Festival” takes place, and it is possible to participate in numerous tasting marathons. The area also boasts an excellent culinary tradition, thanks to the Cinque Terre wines and local fish recipes.
Levanto is a great starting point for visiting the villages of the Cinque Terre, whether by train, by sea or by taking excursions.
Genoa, Pisa, Lucca and Florence can easily be visited in a day, by train

The apartment is not very big, but it’s relatively comfortable. The bed is actually a sofa bed, so don’t expect top-level comfort. Also, the slanted roof is a bit of an issue — especially in the bathroom, where you have to be careful not to hit your head when standing up. The shower is extremely small — barely usable for an average-sized person, and definitely uncomfortable for anyone even slightly bigger. There were also plumbing issues: the shower drain didn’t work well and tended to clog, on its own, so imagine after a beach day when there’s some sand involved. The toilet flush stopped working completely on the last day, which was a real problem. (Its best to leave the lid down, because strange odors would come up)Cleanliness was overall okay, but could be improved — for example, the toilet brush was extremely dirty (with You know what…) These small details really matter. As for electricity, it tripped a few times during the stay, (the host had warned us tho) so you need to be a bit careful with what you use at the same time. All in all, it’s a decent place for the price and for the area, but you definitely shouldn’t expect anything luxurious. If you’re looking for a budget option and don’t mind a few inconveniences, it might work for you. (Just pray You dont get any plumbing issues).PS: The host gave us some amazing tips on activités to do, and where to eat, and on the latter, she's an expert to say the least.
