The accomodation and host are exellent, the rooms are specious and clean with good sound insulation from the local church. This is a common tradition in small little German villages that the church bell is ringing on a regular base. The garden is inviting and has a nice clean pool to cool down if the sun strikes to hard other just sit and relax. One could write fahr more and pick on this or that which may or may not be liked by others but for me it was value for money big time. I'm a Pfälzer and know the area well, regardless it is the perfect spot to start any excursion to the medieval castles or the beautyful towns like Speyer with the huge Dome or Heidelberg with the Castle and the river cruise along the Neckar. Like hiking try the longest consecutive forest in Europe the Pfälzer forest and dine in the forest lodge with the traditional German food. For the kids is evenly much to see at the Speyer museum or if you don't mind to drive an 1hr the Sinsheim Museum is great as well they both have IMAX chinema and you can set foot onto the Concord or onto the Russian space shuttle. If you go there in Sep-Oct you should join one of the 1001 wine festivals, don't forget to see Bad Dürkheim with the biggest wine barrel in the world with 1.7 million ltr volume (there is a resturant inside). Your host knows the area well and will be able to guide you to the best places. A car is a must and the hard part is finding a parking space and the village people are very protective of their parking spots other I don't see a big problem staying there, grocery shop and butcher is near by and the host has bicycles which bring you there in a few minutes. Enjoy your stay. When you travel by car to Lachen the Navi may comes up with Neustadt /Lachen, its about an 1 1/2hr drive from Frankfurt. You can drive via Mainz or Mannheim.
