Chugiak, Alaska
The one good thing about Anchorage is you only have to drive 15 minutes to visit Alaska. Our property is in Alaska. We are not in a large city but in a rural area near Anchorage. It is a quite safe and private area 4 acre property with wonderful neighbors and numerous Alaskan adventures close by.
We have friends and neighbors who are dog mushers and several of them have raced in the Iditarod dog sled race. There are seven public lakes within 5 miles of our home, dog mushing trails, fishing, hiking, and canoeing opportunities close by. We will gladly point you in the right direction for fishing opportunities or even lend you one of our canoes. We love Alaska and the spectacular views and opportunities it offers.
We are within an hour’s drive to several glaciers, old gold mines, historic Alaska sites and numerous other adventures within minutes of our door. It’s a short 20 minute drive from our house to downtown Anchorage and we are within 30 minutes of the Anchorage International Airport.
This place is a little aged, but still a great place. Everything is as shown in pictures and descriptions. Host was great and very, very helpful. The best thing about this place is its location. Right in the middle of everything you want to do and quaint enough, being outside of the city. Tons to do all around, but be sure you look at the date when scheduling. We missed the salmon run by a month and the snow had not come yet so we couldn't see the sled dogs run! Loved it here and hope to return!
This home is well cared for and maintained. Our family of 5 had a wonderful stay.
We were staying here while we were in town for a wedding. Jeff was quick to offer any help or advice about the area. The dog was very friendly as well :) We did not spend much time in the apartment, but it was clean, well-stocked, and served its purpose. Thanks for a great stay!
The place was very easy to find, 3 bedrooms, super well furnished. Our communication with the host was amazing; he was super friendly, helpful, and accomodating. The beds were comfortable and the area was quiet. The host allowed us to borrow his Kayaks even after we had checked out.
3 single adults travelling together. The house is easy to find with dedicated parking. There are a few steps to get into the unit, which is the entire lower floor of the 2 story house. The owners live upstairs. They were respectful of our privacy and were quiet. The living room was large, kitchen fully functional, 3 beds comfortable in separate rooms. Bedrooms have large closets with plenty of hangers but no dressors, just side tables. Luggage rack in 1 bedroom. 1 bath needs updates in the shower area. Plenty of hot water. Laundry in bathroom which we really appreciated. Grounds have lots of flowers, beautiful view of the mountain behind the house. The best part was the owner let us know when a moose meandered onto a corner of the property. We really enjoyed playing with his dog. Very responsive and helpful host. All 3 of us enjoyed chatting with him.
The place was very clean and well stocked. Quiet and cozy. We could only stay for a couple days but wish we had more.
The property was easy to find and was very quiet! From the rental - you do not have a view of the mountains but a few steps outside... it was absolutely beautiful! At this property - there was everything I needed - except for bringing in food and beverages. Jeff offered to drive me around and learn about the area - but I had already a full schedule. Owners were friendly and nice. originally my plans were to stay there longer but do to other tours and such... I was moving north of Anchorage and then south of Anchorage. If I should ever return to this area, this place will be on my list. Thank you to Jeff and family for a great place to stay!
We checked in on time but the property was not ready, the owner said there was some confusion and took us on a 1 ½ (sightseeing) drive while his wife cleaned the place. The owner’s dog had to come along, riding in the back seat with my wife (who doesn’t like dogs) and breathing all over her the whole time. After our ‘Sightseeing’ tour was over and back at the property, we were exhausted from our 2,800 mile flight from Portland, OR. We were handed the keys and told by the owner that the water was brackish, too much iron he said and was trying to treat it. He did bring us 2-1 gallon jugs of water for drinking, for 7 days, but we still had to shower, wash dishes and our clothes in the brackish water. Speaking of showering, the shower head was put on wrong and either it sprayed towards the wall or the shower curtain but not on you and as the shower was on it screamed an ear piercing noise the whole time. The house was old to the point of when you cranked open one of the windows the crank device would fall off. On the VRBO write-up it said there was a drip coffee maker so we bought a bag of ground coffee with us. There was a drip coffee maker but not carafe’. There was a Keurig coffee maker but we had no K-Cups. We went to Wal-Mart and bought some reusable K-cups to use. If we wouldn’t stay there again.
Wonderful location.
This was an amazing stay for us. The property is in a perfect location that gives you great access to all of what Alaska has to offer. Well maintained roads to and from the property. It is easy to find. Our checki in was a breeze. We found the property to be very clean, well equipped and stocked. It is obvious they take pride in their property. Very safe and secure as well. Jeff is an excellent host, greats communication and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. In fact, he with out hesitation jumó started our rental. I just asked him for a reference for who to call. Keep in mind he did this in negative degree temperatures! We will definitely rebook with them this summer!
We enjoyed our stay! The manager Jeff was a great communicator and responded favorably to any request or questions. We would recommend this place!
Traveled from Florida to Alaska to visit our daughter. We choose to stay in this home which is 5 minutes from her because of the jet lag and we knew we’d have different sleep schedules than her. We used one bedroom and slept perfectly. We made coffee and watched tv in the mornings in comfort and we were very thankful the home was warm and comfortable. We never cooked there but we could have. Showers were hot and we loved that we could wash our clothes and return home without dirty laundry. If you’re looking for fancy 5 star, probably not for you. If you’re looking for rustic, peaceful and comfortable, book here. We will be staying again.
Wonderful accommodations and great location! Well equipped kitchen & very comfortable and attractive furnishings. Lovely property - definitely recommend.
Great place, easy access to surrounding trails and state parks. So much to do so little time. I highly recommend staying here when in the area.
Great host that were great to work with ! Very clean and beautiful place to stay
Raegan is the owner’s super friendly dog, she loves visitors and playing catch! Nice place to stay, had everything we needed. We would stay here again!
Perfect for what we needed. Plenty of space and great location. And owners have the sweetest dog?
