Luxury Spanish Steps Apartment at few steps from Spanish Steps

Very disappointed. When we arrive the Apartment is very nice size. But had a horrible smell only to find the refrigerator had old fish juice in the drawers and after we when and bought bleach and rags to clean the smell didnt go away. We found that is was also under the kitchen sink on the floor. The chair cover are disgusting and found hair in the drian catch in one of the showers. Wrote an email to host only to be ignored. For the amount of money we paid for this VRBO The host should be ashamed

I really wanted to give this property a better rating but for reasons I will explain lcannot. You won’t find a better location in Rome. You are literally about 300 feet from the Spanish steps. The house has some beautiful antiques but it could use some deep cleaning and character. The chairs in the kitchen have stains on the upholstery that they try to cover with chair pads. The beds have no bedspreads or lamps on the nightstands. Overall it was clean though. The bathrooms have been totally renovated and look very beautiful until you try using them. The showers have no shelves for soap or shampoo and no vanity space at all. The master bath is the only bathroom with adequate vanity space.Now the reason why I have to give this property such a low rating. The owner will not contact you for instructions on how to access the property. Two days before arrival I messaged him and tried to call him with no response. I finally called VRBO who was able to contact him through a different number. He said he would send instructions but never did. The day before arrival I had to contact VRBO again. They contacted him once again and he said he would send instructions but again they were not sent. The VRBO host of the house we were staying at in Sorrento saw how panicked we were and she was able to contact another company called Rome Sweet Home who somehow got us into the apartment. In summary, it’s a nice place but that doesn’t mean anything if you can’t get into the property

Despite sending multiple messages days in advance, the property never responded to us. We arrived on the scheduled date and took more than 2 hours of waiting in the streets to get a hold of someone to let us in which was finally able to be done by getting the assurance of someone who lived in the building. The contact numbers on VRBO were not in service…. The only time we finally had a prompt response was when they wanted more payment for the taxes. The property is amazing and very well Located to eat out and explore Rome. The antiques and space is beautiful…However, they could use some work on the cleanliness, the coffee maker was full of mouldy coffee grounds, the showers are smelly and full of mildew and many of the dishes were dirty and had to be washed before issuing. The only thing to wash dishes was a mildew infested, stained old rag. The upstairs neighbours are very loud, wearing what sounded like high hells and walking endlessly.
