A little history
Before becoming a gateway to the city's commercial arteries, the Porte Dijeaux was an entrance to the west of Bordeaux in Roman times, built on the city's first line of fortifications. It remained untouched by the city's 13th-century expansion to the south. The new 14th-century ramparts moved it a few meters to the west (on the other side of Rue des Remparts). Outside, a half-moon-shaped merlon, 8 to 10 m high, served as a redoubt. In 1650, it was used to repel Cardinal Mazarin's troops during the Fronde. At the time, with the support of a number of nobles, bourgeois and commoners, the Bordeaux Parliament opposed the new taxes introduced by the Prime Minister, Richelieu's successor, and the Princesse de Condé took refuge with her son in the Gironde capital after the arrest of her husband, the Grand Condé, who was in conflict with Mazarin.

The apartment has 2 double bedrooms and a single room with a desk that I used as my office. Internet is good. The kitchen is well equipped and the beds comfortable. The linens and towels all provided, and the agency very responsive and pleasant to deal with. Despite being central the apartment is very quiet and it is great (as well as unusual) to have an elevator in the old center of town. Groceries are nearby if you are staying a while and public transportation is both close by and very easy to use. Download the TBM app and you can use your phone to pay. Highly recommend le Particulier as your base in Bordeaux.

The apartment was very comfortable, quiet and spacious with lots of natural light. There was also a sunny outdoor sitting area. The apartment was really well located with cafes and shopping on the doorstep. It was also a short walk to the major tourist attractions.

This vacation was our first time in Bordeaux, and it was amazing. Communication with Antoine was seamless right from the start - very timely. He welcomed us at the condo, showed us upstairs by elevator, and made sure we were settled and comfortable. The location of the condo was perfect for us, as it's right in the the city center. Cars are not allowed in that part of the city which makes walking easy, especially everything you'd need is literally right outside of your door. Great walking distance to cafes, restaurants, boutiques, pharmacies - definitely a more upscale part of the city. The condo was lovely. Very comfortable for the four of us (me, my husband, and our adults children). Beds were great, kitchen well stocked, and thank you for having a really nice hair dryer!! And the washer/dryer was a huge bonus. We loved sitting around in the living room sharing a bottle of wine, talking about our evening (and the Lenny Kravitz concert!!). Antoine, thank you for having us and being such a wonderful host for our stay in Bordeaux!

A lovely appartment in the heart of the city center, close to transportation, restaurants, bares, shops. The location and layout of apartment was fantastic and allowed us to have an unbelievable stay in Bordeaux. The rooftop was wonderful and enjoyed many bottles of wine and laughs on it. 10/10.
