Stinson Beach, California
Large Studio with comfortable King bed, and also a twin bed in loft area with a spiral staircase the loft bed is ONLY for kids 5-11 (no adults). This studio has a large private wrap around deck great for grilling/ relaxing. The kitchen is quaint and has a small refrigerator, microwave, stove/oven. Our place is a two unit home and the studio is the lower unit. The home is on the hill close to and walking distance above Stinson beach, close to activities, including five blocks to the beach, one block from the Matt Davis trail, a short walk down to restaurants and several stores.
With a stunning view, sounds of the waves and cool nights, this property is perfectly suited to a single or couple who need a relaxing getaway to the beautiful Stinson Beach on the California coast. The parking space is very small and steep to navigate, so a compact vehicle is the only option. There are many trails and roads to walk but be aware, up or down is quite steep and takes some good lung power! Communication with the host was excellent and responsive. I was very happy to be so close to my former home.
Our stay at Ingrid's home was enjoyable and restful. The kitchen is nicely equipped and the tall space is full of light with a view out to the great Pacific. The only thing we missed was a couch or an alternate area to the comfy bed to lounge and read. Thanks for your hospitality Ingrid. C and J
Location: Home is located near the northern edge of Stinson Beach. While within a mile of the beach, if you are older or have young kids with you, the walk will be pretty miserable. As two young 20s active adults, we found the walk to be okay but did have to pack light for the beach since carrying things (cooler, surf boards, etc) isn’t really an option. We ended up driving down half of the days. The hills are very very steep. The benefit of the location is that you are within 1/10th of a mile of a trailhead. There is also access to this trailhead from the parking lot at the beach. Cleanliness: The floors in the house were very dirty. Be prepared to either wear socks 100% of the time to avoid dirty feet or wear shoes in and have sand in the house. It would probably help if the deck was power washed periodically by the property managers because it was also filthy. Parking: If you have a small car there shouldn’t be an issue with parking but a full size SUV or larger will be a squeeze. In our case, the passenger had to exit the car before parking due to the spot being flush with the deck on the passenger side. Be prepared to have some issues during your stay. The stand-up fan was broken upon arrival and the lights in the bathroom have a problem with flickering or not coming on. This is the largest sign of the unit’s age. Also, at one point during our stay the kitchen drop down faucet head came off and we had to stop the fountain of water shooting out and reattach the faucet head. None of these are huge issues, but it goes to show that the unit needs some attention. Overall, we enjoyed our stay despite the quirks because we spent most of our time away from the unit at the beach or on the outdoor deck. Be wary that there are a lot of bees outside due to the flowers surrounding the deck so unless you enjoy sharing your plate with the bees, stick to eating inside (huge bummer for those warmer nights).
My wife (Beth) and I stayed at Ingrid's property from April 16-30, and had a wonderful time. The location is great - up the hill away from town, but just a short walk from there and the beach. Also, near good hiking trails and surf breaks - Bolinas, and fun places to visit like Point Reyes and Tomales Bay . No complaints about the house amenities - nice kitchen, bath, bed, loft and outside deck. Wi-Fi/Internet worked great which was important since I was working from there 4 days/week. Some nice surprises were the lemon tree and the open layout with natural light. We had a relaxing, quiet, stay and highly recommend it for visitors to the area. Thank you Ingrid and Family!
My husband and I stayed for a long weekend and the space had everything we needed. Everything was comfortable and clean and we also really enjoyed the patio area and bbq. Location was great, easy walk to hikes, beach, shops and restaurants!
Ingrids Studio is perfect. Great light inside, great sun on the deck, close to everything, hiking, beach, shops. I lucked out and no one was upstairs the first few nights so it was super quiet. With upstairs guests there is quite a bit of ceiling noise, you can hear every footstep, chair dragging.. other than that thumbs up!
I loved this bright and spacious studio and it’s large deck—perfect for relaxing, and close to amenities and the beach! It is very well-appointed with plenty of towels, glasses and cooking supplies. Ingrid is a great host. Can’t wait to visit again!
