Very peaceful place to stay
A beautiful place in the woods. The host was very kind and friendly. We enjoyed it a lot.
Pros: Beautiful, secluded spot. Two-story house with full first floor to ourselves. Fully stocked kitchen. Roomy bedrooms and baths. Pet friendly. Cons: This property was further out than we expected, a 30 minute drive from town. The owner did give us very clear directions which was helpful since there is virtually no internet service. We were told the key would be on the table when we arrived but after arriving we were told there was no key and that she was in the process of replacing the lock. She assured us no one would come into the house but we did not like the idea of leaving without being able to lock the door. There was a very strong odor like a very old house that had been closed up for a long time but the owner said she was not aware of it. Luckily, we had candles that we burned to cover the odor. Overall: Steep gravel driveway, four-wheel drive highly recommended. This location was not exactly to our liking so we would not stay again.
What a beautiful location up in the NC mountains. The location was perfect for the places we visited but we like the backroads. Yes, the driveway is steep, but nothing crazy and the gravel helps. Chloe the owner is great and responsive. We enjoyed our stay so much and there was plenty of room for all 4 of us, and our dog! We would highly recommend Chloe’s rental.
Enjoyed the peace and quiet.
it was an awesome vacation altogether. The gravel road drive is really a hurdle if you are traveling at night. Otherwise, it's a nice hideout. The property owner was always there to answer your questions. We saw few deers and a large king snake nearby. Thanks
This is our second year staying with Chloe, if you want a peaceful hideaway this is your place! We love the quiet escape and remote location. Another fabulous stay!!!
The driveway to the house about 1/2 mile gravel which they said and said put in low gear but if you have a small car it’s very difficult to get up that driveway you wouldn’t make it in the winter. The drive to town is 25 min like they said but it’s a long drive pretty but way to log unless you’re staying at the house. The furniture is like from the thrift store old and way to much of it to many old different pictures and nic nac’s old yellow placemats and bedsheets. Only a couple of towels and I asked if there were towels ahead of time. There is nowhere to walk your dog and there is no view. I would not want someone to get the wrong impression like I did of the pics on line. We did leave a day early and would of left sooner but I was closing on a home so we couldn’t. The stove does not work good and the air conditioning makes so much noise in the one bedroom you have to wear earplugs. There was so much I cannot go into but hope you get what I’m saying. Would not want someone to be as disappointed as we were.
We are a military family in the midst of a an overseas move and needed a place to call home during our transition. This sweet home nestled in the mountains was a perfect place to rest and breath deep!! Chloe was wonderful. Her directions to the cabin are spot on! She even brought us popcorn and was there with anything we needed quickly. Our kiddos and dog were very happy here. We spent a little time near Highlands enjoying the river, but mostly stayed put. We cooked all our meals at the cabin. The kitchen is well stocked and there is a charcoal grill. Had a laundry day in town at a great laundromat (Happy Family). Overall we had everything we needed and were super comfy! The WiFi is a little slow, but in such a beautiful place who cares!! It was plenty to get us what we needed.
Chloe’s place was great for us and our German Sheppard. We went rafting down the Nantahala and hiking at Joyce Kilmer Forest. She was very accommodating and ensured we had an awesome stay. There is good solid charcoal grill that we utilized every evening. The only negative was the trip was too short!
