La Jolla Cottage by the Sea

No complaints! Comfy, great location, serene setting and pet friendly!

A tranquil little studio cottage in a quiet neighborhood near the beaches.

The property was perfect for our stay. Loved the quiet mornings reading on the balcony. Easy walk to a coffee shop and a short drive to the beach. The owners are super nice and helpful (they even mailed back my lost AirPod). This is the second year in a row we’ve stayed there and the experience, as before, was exceptional.

Nice property in a beautiful area!

The La Jolla cottage was perfect for our long weekend visit for a family member’s wedding. The hosts were fabulous, super-accommodating, and helpful. They let us in early, gave us great restaurant suggestions, and have such a beautiful space. It worked great short-term for 2 adults and 1 kid, the pullout couch was surprisingly comfortable. We loved walking down to the beach for sunset and then sitting on the balcony in the evenings.

Wonderful stay at this fantastic property. Quiet and secluded back house was perfect. Mark and Marty provided everything we needed for our 3-night stay. The property was within walking distance to the ocean and to restaurants. Thoroughly enjoyed our time.

Room is above garage so you do hear the garage door opening and closing. Ideal space for one person. Only one chair so second person has to sit on bed or out on the patio (weather permitting). Kitchen is very compact but is reasonably equipped for making snacks in toaster oven. King bed was very comfortable and is actually a sofa bed but cannot be retracted because of the thick foam mattress, so is not available as a seating area.

Quiet and cozy

Quiet neighborhood with water feature in backyard that was relaxing to listen to before bed. Property was not easily accessible. Had to drag luggage down pathways covered in small pebbles and up a full set of stairs. Owner did help with luggage upon arrival. Could have used another chair and side table beside bed.

Amazing stay in a perfect location!!

It was so nice to return to this quiet, calm neighborhood after being out in the crowds! Super comfortable bed made sleeping easy. And it is a short walk to restaurants and coffee shops. (The coffee supplied was really good!). We were there visiting our granddaughter at UCSD which is just a short trip away and avoids freeways.

Cute little spot for a few nights in the Bird Rock area of La Jolla. It’s not big, but it has all the basics you need for a casual stay in a great little section of San Diego

Everything was PERFECT!!! My daughter and I were in La Jolla looking at colleges and this property made our trip extra special. The cottage is absolutely gorgeous and the area around the property is beautiful. We felt really lucky to be able to spend time there!

Host was welcoming and responsive. The location is fantastic and the studio room was very nice, private and pleasant with great natural light and a view of the ocean just to the west. Loved it!

The stay at the cottage by the sea was 5/5 due to the incredible hosts and to be within the Bird Rock neighborhood of La Jolla for this price point. If you’re looking to enjoy a relaxing side of La Jolla with quick access to the rest of San Diego, you’ll want to stay here. It’s cozy, above a garage, and while not a 5 star hotel, it was a 5 star experience. Will certainly stay here again next time we’re in San Diego!

Great location to quaint Birdrock area.

We had a wonderful stay at this cottage for five days. It was clean, comfortable and fit our needs. The location was beautiful and close to everything we wanted to see. We loved walking down the street to get coffee and walk down to look at the gorgeous ocean. Mark and Marty were warm, responsive and made everything easy from start to finish. We will definitely love to go back and stay.

We had an amazing time staying at this little cottage in La Jolla. Very clean room with lots of extra amenities and a nice balcony view of the neighborhood. Mark and Marty were very helpful and kind to us during our stay, and we would love to come back again!

This place has the potential to be amazing, especially considering its location. However, the lack of cleanliness, particularly in the bathroom, significantly detracted from the experience. It’s particularly disappointing because there’s a cleaning fee for the listing. The shower looked like it hadn’t been deep-cleaned in years. Hair surrounded an empty body wash bottle, and the shampoo and conditioner bottles appeared dirty. The soap bottle was empty, and there was hair around the sink and the drawers. The overall cleanliness made me feel like I had crashed at a friend’s house last minute who hadn’t had a chance to clean, rather than a Vrbo I had paid hundreds of dollars for.

Incredible location and immaculate room. The neighborhood is very quiet and you can walk to many restaurants and coffee shops. The room is pretty much a big comfy bed, nice bath, and small kitchen with a lovely deck. Our hosts were away, so we spent time in their great backyard patio/garden. Biking to Pacific Beach every day was AMAZING. Marty was super communicative and helpful throughout.

Nice neighborhood, close to everything

The rental was perfect. It's in a quiet, clean and safe neighborhood, located closer to the beach than I had expected. Owners were very nice and helpful. I will be back in the future.

Great location and the space is lovely. Hosts were friendly, responsive and respectful of our privacy. Overall we had a great time and would recommend for a couple.

The bed was extremely comfortable. The whole room and setup were just right. The bottle of wine was a nice extra. I appreciated all the little extras provided, to compensate for some items we forgot to pack. I would absolutely stay there again.

Excellent neighborhood and property.

It was perfect for our stay! We enjoyed the landscaping and the area. It was quiet and close to everything.

Overall our stay was good. However, the bathroom could have used a better cleaning and the freezer in the refrigerator needed defrosting pretty badly. The bed was great and we really enjoyed our stay.

Perfect size room and location for our 3 night stay. Close to a variety of coffee shops and restaurants. Was a little nervous about the pull out couch, but it and the pillows were very comfortable. Beautiful neighborhood to walk around. Hosts were very responsiveness. The trees have grown, so no ocean view from the balconey, but very nice none the less.

This studio rental is set on a beautiful property, in what has become one of my favorite parts of the San Diego area. The walk to stores, shopping, wine, coffee, restaurants, and a great bakery is just a matter of a few short blocks. The space itself is outfitted with everything that you should need to enjoy your stay. Highly recommend.

Nice place to stay if you're ever lucky enough to be in La Jolla. Sunny studio with kitchenette and big TV screen. Excellent location only a few miles from downtown La Jolla in a safe neighborhood. Highly recommended. NB: especially good if you need to park a car whether day or night.

Marty and Mark supplied toiletries,shampoo, extra blankets, even a heater, paper towels. They even supplied more than a weeks worth of coffee. Mini kitchen was cute, it had a nice touch if you wanted to cook in the kitchen. My family and I were at the location for one week stay. It was peaceful, easy to get to. Nice neighborhood. It was clean. The extra blankets was nice. The outdoor patio was nice to catch some sunshine.

Enjoyed the stay. Unfortunately there is a great need to clean the kitchen appliances. All of he toiletries were old. I felt like I was using someone’s old toiletries. The property is not appropriate for anyone who has mobility or balance issues.
