Stayed Oct 8, 2025My wife and I came for a 9 day relaxing break having never visited Crete before. There are many superlatives to say about this visit, but before I say anything more “we will be coming again” and have already recommended it to family and friends despite only returning home last night. Here is a summary of the highlights:1) the apartment was a luxury, modern, clean, well appointed property, with everything one could ever wish for during their stay. You name it, they had it ! Every electrical appliance, every utensil, even a pre-stocked fridge with some essentials to get you going. Of course that’s on top of the advertised infinity pool, spacious accommodation, etc2) location ! Well Galatas is an old fashioned Greek village, set up on a hill away from the slightly brash coastal resort. Maybe it lacks on options to walk to for eating and drinking (but there are a few), but it’s only a 2 minute drive to get on the main highway and you can be in Chania town centre in 15 minutes if you want a “full on” bustling town centre experience. The highway also gives you access to the rest of the island, it Crete is BIG, so plan well ahead.3) hospitality. The Greeks have the word Philoxeno ! Which literally means friend of stranger. If you’ve never experienced it then you are missing out and the property owner Mr Stelios left us feeling “special” for the entire stay. I’ve got so much more to write but am limited to 1500 characters ..
