Each reservation is for one private one-bedroom apartment suite within the home, not the entire house. Every apartment suite features a king bed, full kitchen, and a spacious bathroom, with soft, layered interiors designed for comfort and ease.

Kildahl House is a fully restored historic farmhouse originally built in the early 1900s, offering a stay that blends character, comfort, and a strong sense of place. Set on a hill above downtown West Dundee, the home provides a light-filled setting with easy access to everything the area has to offer.



The property includes four private one-bedroom apartment suites, each fully self-contained with its own kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and living space, creating four fully private apartments within the home.



Each suite is thoughtfully designed with a king bed, full kitchen with modern appliances, a spacious bathroom with elevated finishes, and a comfortable living area. Soft tones, natural light, and simple farmhouse details create a space that feels warm, relaxed, and easy to settle into.



Guests also have access to outdoor spaces, including a wraparound porch and backyard seating area, offering a place to unwind and take in the charm of the surrounding neighborhood.



Kildahl House is well suited for couples, extended stays, and guests traveling together. Guests attending events at nearby venues like The BRIX on the Fox often reserve multiple suites for a shared experience while still enjoying private accommodations.



Guest Access:

Guests have full private access to their individual suite, with secure, contactless entry for a smooth and seamless arrival. The main entrance to Kildahl House is located on Second Street, and detailed check-in instructions will be provided prior to your stay.



Free parking is available across the street in nearby municipal lots. From April through October, additional parking is available directly in front of Kildahl House.



Please note that Suites 1 and 2 are located on the first floor, while Suites 3 and 4 are located on the second floor.



The Neighborhood:

Kildahl House is located in historic downtown West Dundee, a walkable district along the Fox River that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.



You’re just steps from local restaurants, coffee shops, and neighborhood favorites, including Emmett’s Brewing Co. and live music at RocHaus, as well as the scenic riverwalk and bike trails that wind through the Fox River Valley. Guests can also rent bikes nearby or bring kayaks and canoes to enjoy the river.



Set slightly above the downtown, the home offers a more residential feel while still being close to everything. It’s an easy place to settle in, with a relaxed rhythm and a strong sense of local character.



We’re also just a short drive from The BRIX on the Fox, making Kildahl House a convenient option for wedding guests. Traveling with a group Our nearby properties, including 124 Lofts and Sinclair Suites, are all within walking distance, allowing guests to stay close while enjoying their own private spaces.



Getting Around:

Downtown Dundee is easy to explore on foot, with restaurants, coffee shops, and riverfront access just steps from the home.



For trips beyond downtown, Kildahl House offers convenient access to the surrounding area. Interstate 90 is just 3 miles away, and the nearest Metra station is within a short drive, providing easy access to Chicago. Rideshare services are readily available, along with PACE public transportation.



Chicago O’Hare International Airport is approximately 30 minutes away.

Each suite is a fully private apartment within the home, with its own bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, and living space.



We offer a 10% discount for 7-night stays and a 20% discount for stays of 30 nights or more.



Guests traveling together may reserve multiple suites to stay close while enjoying separate private spaces.



Pet Policy



We are happy to welcome well-behaved dogs at Kildahl House.



A $50 fee per pet, per stay applies (maximum of 2 pets)

Pets must be well-behaved and respectful of other guests

Pets may not be left unattended if they are prone to barking, crying, or restlessness



For your convenience, a pet waste station is located in the backyard. We kindly ask that dogs are taken to the backyard for bathroom needs, as urine in the front yard can cause yellowing of the lawn.



If a pet causes ongoing disturbance or damage and is not promptly addressed, we reserve the right to request corrective action to ensure a comfortable stay for all guests.

    Specific tenants were given access to security features of the building and electronics to control and harass other tenants. Did not checked tenants for bringing their own surveillance equipment. Limitations on certain electronic instruments/equipment that can be brought inside the property limits.

    Wonderful, clean space in an adorable town. We were very happy with our stay. The host was extremely responsive and helpful, and the location was perfect walking distance to nearby coffee shops and restaurants. The space itself was incredibly clean and comfortable. Only note is that you can hear quite a bit of movement if someone is staying in the unit above you, but that feels minuscule in comparison to all the other amenities.

    Great room in a great area. We've stayed in the building before and hope to again when in town visiting family and friends. There are so many fun good restaurants/bars, some with a band playing. Highly recommend one of the unis there.

    I booked this place as a way to explore the mountain bike trails in Carpentersville, and if you are doing the same I really don't think you could find a better rental. Downtown Dundee is right there too with so many places to eat and drink. The property is super-well maintained and the hosts are very responsive if needed.

    Excellent location with access to Dundee restaurants. The units are very beautiful. Hosts are excellent. if you are looking for an easy escape weekend, this is an excellent option.

    Loved this space... it was the perfect spot for my solo work retreat. Husband joined me the 2nd night and he loved how cozy and romantic it was. Highly recommend. Will definitely stay there again in the future.
