Key West, Florida
Key West Suites Hotel #201
Welcome to your charming private studio apartment right on Duval street! Built in 1919, it used to be called the Central Hotel because it’s located at the most central location on Duval bordering Southard Street and is just steps up on the second floor overlooking both Duval and Southard Streets.
The apartment boasts 10-foot ceilings with fans, 2 King beds plus a Queen pull out leather sofa bed, huge 55-inch Samsung 4k smart tv, HD cable, full kitchen with pots, pans, plates etc., fridge with ice maker, stove/range, large windows looking onto Duval street, extreme speed Wi-Fi and a luxury shower for rinsing off your salt of the sea.
The building once housed the Chrysler/Desoto car dealership, a furniture store, and later a clothing store when the Beatles came to make a purchase which caused the cashier to pass out on the floor. It has since been refurbished into a beautiful art gallery, two restaurants, a bar, and the newly renovated apartments upstairs. The stately solid concrete building is extremely quiet so that you can’t really hear much of Duval despite being right on Duval.
The corner of Southard and Duval is right downstairs, and from there you can reach in near equal distance Fort Zachary state park beach, Mallory Square, Hemmingway’s house, and the Southernmost point.
You must be able to bring your own luggage up two flights of stairs as it’s on the second floor, and there is no elevator to the historic building.
Parking is public on the street at metered spaces. You must provide your own parking. The cheapest way to park is to first unload your car at Key West Suites Hotel after paying the meter, then park and pay at the City owned “Park and Ride” corner of Grinnell and Caroline Street, then simply walk everywhere. You can walk from the garage to the unit or keep the parking stub and ride their free shuttle.
it was very spacious and great location, property manager was very quick w responding
Property manager. Was very nice
We had a great time staying in this apartment! The location is perfect for walking around Key West where all the action is happening! The apartment was clean and the host made sure our stay went smoothly. Would absolutely stay here again!
Great property! Great location except at bedtime! Only issue very small bugs or ants almost to small to see where all over the unit. If you are a light sleeper not the unit for you.
The street noise from people walking & talking and the bands in the area went into the wee hours of the morning. Of course it is on Duval St and we knew that so that's the trade off. Bring ear plugs perhaps. Two flights of stairs to get your bags up so if you are older or not very strong, look elsewhere. I had a young man walk by and grabbed my suitcase for me just for the exercise he said. great people, all happy to be there which enhanced our enjoyment. Only suggestion is that the owner put the kitchen lights on a separate circuit from the main room. i could not make coffee in the dark without waking up my husband as the whole ceiling lit up. easy fix I should think. Otherwise everything was good.
Super simple set up for a quick stay in key west
Very clean with a large shower. Great location.
Excellent
Pros Clean Spacious King beds In center of town; walking distance to everything Cons Noise at night because in center of town Flat pillows Limited kitchen stuff
My best advice based on my experience would be to find a different place to stay at. We booked this unit for Spring Break back in August and paid in full. First of all, the unit is very difficult to locate and parking is challenging to say the least. We had to ask for assistance from a local Gallery owner. Next, we did not realize that we did not have a way to access the unit until we were double parked in busy Old Town Key West. We attempted to call the Property Manager (a local real estate agent) nearly a dozen times with no reply. We had to resort to staying in a local hotel with the assistance of VRBO. Well after we had checked into our hotel, we did finally get communication from the property manager, but it did little good at that point. We ended up being crammed in a small hotel room with no way to prepare food. We never got an apology from the owner. This was a horrible experience and good luck with it if you decide to rent this unit. Caveat Emptor.
Highly recommend this rental.. perfect location, walking distance to everything. I was worried abou the noise being right on the street and I will not lie it was a little noisy at night.. but bring some earplugs and don't let it detract you.. Great Cuban Coffee shop right down stairs. Had one issue where the AC was not as cool as we would have liked, texted the owner and her responded in minutes and had someone come out right away and resolve the issue.. (and this was on a Saturday night!). Highly recommend!
