Stayed Jan 1, 2026This place is amazing, and very close to everything the Brainerd Lakes area has to offer. Whether you’re a book worm and prefer staying in or you want to be active and explore the outdoors, Sunset Loons w/ Bear cabin does not disappoint. There were 6 in our group and the property was plenty spacious. We spent our mornings snowmobiling (Pillsbury State Forest was a short ride away) and then we took in activities in the afternoons. Snow shoeing at the Arboretum was a definite highlight for our group. Thanks, Adam for everything- your awesome communication made our stay extremely easy and enjoyable!

Stayed Sep 25, 2025You can tell there was a lot of thought and care put into what you’d like to do around the property! Our kids loved that there was a toy bin for them and my husband loved being able to kayak in the morning. We’re looking forward to our next time here!

Stayed Sep 18, 2025Amazing place to stay with kids. Adam should honestly talk more about the toys, games, books, yard games, etc. We brought stuff for our kids to do and it was TOTALLY unnecessary. They also spent a lot of their time (when it wasn't raining) on the beach playing in the sand and taking a dip in the water despite the cool temps. The water was still warm bc of how shallow it is. My in-laws loved tagging along while still having their own private space to unwind.

Stayed Sep 11, 2025Wonderful property right on the water! We had our own beach with water toys and the guest cabin was a wonderful addition for my elderly mother and father to relax and have their own space separate from the main cabin.

Stayed Aug 1, 2025The house and grounds are stocked with everything we needed for a lovely two week stay. We didn’t have a rainy day so we didn’t utilize the garage much but that space would be perfect for a rainy day. I would highly recommend this lake house. The host was also great at communication and very understanding when a family death changed our plans slightly. Highly recommend!

Stayed Jul 19, 2025This house was the perfect place for our family to vacation! It was fully stocked with kitchen supplies, plenty of beds, and plenty to do to beat the rain (unfortunate unpredictable Minnesota Summer weather!) we spent most evening playing darts in the garage. We made the most of our sunny day on the sandy beach! I personally had great communication with the host through out our stay.

Stayed Oct 6, 2024This property was perfect for our family - our grown children, grandchildren, daughter-in-law, my husband (who has limited mobility), and myself. Each of us had private space plus lots of space for game-time and puzzle-time. Our oldest grandson even caught a northern when he took the paddle boat out. The host was very responsive and pleasant to work with.

Stayed Aug 3, 2024Our week long stay was great! We enjoyed all the great amenities Sunset Loons had to offer. Communications with the owners were very informative and helpful. We had one set of grandparents with us for this visit, so the Bear cabin was a perfect set-up for privacy, and some down time for them. The weather was not so perfect so we didn’t spend much time outside, but the view and seating was lovely! Being picky sleepers, we found the King mattress comfortable, but on the soft side. Upon sunrise, my young adult kids were not thrilled there were no window coverings or wall separating loft from living area. Oops! Would stay again in a heartbeat!

Stayed Jul 16, 2024This was a great property to stay at, we really enjoyed ourselves and were able to keep the kids off screens the whole time. This place has a ton of really nice indoor and outdoor games as well as all the various boats! The kids were not bored at all. There were plenty of linens, towels, blankets to make ourselves comfortable, and plenty of kitchen items to make full meals. Beds were very comfortable. The host was very easy to get ahold of as well.

Stayed Jun 26, 2024Overall a beautiful house. Loved that there was a side cabin for the family with small children to have some privacy and quiet. The beach and sand was nice, however the water is extremely shallow throughout the entire lake (more shallow than we had anticipated) making the water and swimming area VERY weedy and messy. The kids were able to play in the sand but swimming was impossible given the weeds and sharp snail shells covering the bottom. We loved the paddle boat and kayaks, but we were anticipating utilizing our own fishing boat, but given the lake was so shallow, we were unable to get the boat into the water and never would have been able to park a boat at the dock at the house. (It’s about 2 feet deep around the dock.) we ended up having to pack up a cooler and take our beach day to a lake about 5 miles away for the kids to be able to swim and to go out fishing. The flat top grill was great to use for all of our meals. (If you need a crockpot, though, bring your own.) Had a few issues while we were there but the owner was quick to respond. Also, if you have a bigger group, be prepared to bring your own extra TP. Overall had a very nice time on our family vacation, but maybe just not the type of lake we were hoping for.

Stayed Jun 9, 2024Relaxing place for family and grandparents to stay at. Also brought our Brittany dog with this time (kept on leash and nice area for long walks). Only 1.5 miles from main part of Brainerd. Outdoor blackstone grill has a large cooktop that was perfect for all our cooking.
