The nature-themed apartment complements the landscaping and numerous songbirds it is surrounded by in the summertime. Outside is an outdoor sitting area, with a locally made bistro table and two chairs.
W.J. and Belle Steckel built the carriage house, in addition to their house, in 1910. It included living quarters for the groundskeeper/chauffeur. The apartment has been kept up-to-date by later owners.
Bloomfield is a unique small town, surrounded by farms. There are old-fashioned stores, a coffee/flower shop, stately Carnegie library, and hiking/fishing/hunting opportunities in the area.
Very clean and well kept interior, with excellent climate control. Friendly and kind host makes tasty granola and respects your privacy. Safe neighborhood. Minor issues: I received what seemed to be a wild parsnip burn when sitting outside one day in the carriage house's courtyard after the lawn had been mowed---likely there's some of those plants out there which had had their stems sliced in the process. Kitchen garbage disposal needed either sharpening or some other service; unlike all else in the property, TLC was required for it to work reliably. Would absolutely stay again!
It was very neat and clean. There were other extra touches that added to the stay - flowers and homemade chocolate candy on the table! Host was friendly and helpful.
The Carriage House is very private, beautiful grounds with flower gardens and true to its history. Spacious loft area, great nights sleep on the king or queen bed with nice sitting area. There's also two computer monitors desk area. Fully equipped kitchen with a very gracious family as your host. The homemade granola is the yummiest. Perfect for long term stay. Oh there is a laundry mat on the Square, a great coffee shop, and don't miss the farmers market on Thurs & Sat. Support the local businesses - they are great people. Love this town.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Everything was very clean and all needs covered. We especially enjoyed the hospitality and visiting with the owners.
We enjoyed our time here! There were special touches that made it even better, including the homemade granola and the record player!
Pretty picky but the floors needed to be swept/mopped. Coffee provided but no creamer. Just make sure you’re ok with steep stairs, you have to go down 3 short flights to use the restroom.
We enjoyed our stay! Charming and quaint. Very clean! The granola for breakfast was amazing. Fresh cut flowers and a personal note was a nice welcome when we arrived. Highly recommend however if stairs are difficult this wouldn’t be a good place for you. Which is very unfortunate because it is very charming.
Much more intersting than renting a hotel room. Must be good with stairs. Roomy space if you are traveling with one or two small children.
This little place was perfect for our 2 night stay! Erica was an incredible hostess and replied quickly to any questions. My little girls loved playing on the play set!?
We had a great time in Bloomfield and enjoyed the carriage house. The pictures are very accurate of what the property offers. I was surprised by all the technology, yet you don’t have a television. The reason for grading you down on cleanliness was due to a lot of dead flies on the windowsills and the dust/cobwebs throughout the house. If I were you, I would invest in a vacuum with a hose and use it to suck up all the unwanted bugs and dust! Overall, a wonderful stay!!
Very nice property and location. I would definitely stay again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our overnight in the historic carriage house. The spacious layout exuded warmth and charm. We would love to return.
The host, Erica was responsive and everything was as described. The kids loved the toys, puzzle, and outdoor playground. The water, yogurt, granola, and chocolate was appreciated and enjoyed. Their were dead bugs laying around but otherwise everything was great!
Erica was very helpful with all questions and inquires.
We were very pleased with the facility and it had everything we needed for our over night stay. The furniture and bed were very comfortable as it gave us time to relax before the family festivities.
Cozy, and comfortable. Walk to restaurants and shops of charming midwestern town. Highly recommend !
Really enjoyed my stay and the facilities are very clean and comfortable. Highly recommend
Was the first place like this we stayed, and it was amazing! The owners went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. The little extra things they did, made the experience that much better. We will definitely be back!!
This quaint but spacious converted historic carriage house was a real treat to experience. The hosts have done a remarkable job making this accommodation attractive and comfortable while maintaining the historical integrity of the unit. Our hosts provided homemade granola, yogurt, fresh vegetables from their garden, homemade chocolate candies, and fresh cut flowers - all greeting us upon our arrival. Internet service was perfect. Our host family was very friendly, eager to accommodate our needs and frequently checked on our comfort and provided useful information regarding shopping opportunities. This can be summed up as a very satisfying experience with a very gracious and accommodating host. We hope to revisit in the future.
Amazing stay at an amazing place! We loved the charm!
My daughters and I were coming into town for a funeral and there are not many options for hotels in this small town. I was so happy to this carriage house as a new listing. I contacted the owner to ask a few questions and she got back to me right away. We were only her second renters, but hopefully word will get out about this amazing place to stay that has so much history. As you walk in there is a small sitting area to use for getting ready in the mornings and also the bathroom with a shower. Upstairs is an open loft area that had a table that seats 6, a king size bed, a full size bed, two chairs and a fire place and a small kitchen with a full size refrigerator , oven, microwave and dishwasher. They also have a smaller kids table and a few toys and books. Erica the host had left a nice welcome card for us upon arrival with her number in case we needed anything. She had made homemade granola and stocked the frig with yogurt and water and fresh peaches on the table. The owners live on the property in the main house if you needed anything . The property was extremely clean inside and out. We would definitely stay here again. More charm and appeal than a hotel room.
