Stayed Apr 9, 2026Ed was a great host and had snacks waiting for us upon arrival. He was very prompt to respond to any questions we had. The unit is quiet and on the upper level of a charming historic home in Old Portsmouth. Walking distance to great restaurants and a small park to walk your dog to. Overall, we had a great stay!

Stayed Mar 9, 2026This was a great place to stay. The furniture was comfortable and the kitchen was nicely equipped. Ed communicated with us quickly which was greatly appreciated when our original booking in Norfolk fell through. We enjoyed our stay in Portsmouth and would stay here again

Stayed Feb 14, 2026Host was very responsive with communication. We were starving after a long trip and pleasantly surprised to find a frozen pizza and someCrackers and hummus in the fridge! The property is historically older. Some updates decor and repair is needed but not necessary for our stay. The neighbors in the building are close and we were slightly annoyed with the barking of close by pets first thing in the morning. Overall a 4/5

Stayed Aug 29, 2025Vacation apartment rental was terrible, below standard. Health concerns exist with live rodents in ceiling above bed making screeching & clawing noises. Could not sleep! Every room had large patched areas , unpainted with loose plaster, holes, & cracks. Location to tourist areas were walkable however unclean, felt unsafe at night. Apartment was Falsely advertised, left next morning & demanded refund. Still have not received resolution from owner or Vrbo after 7 days !

Stayed Aug 12, 2025The main rooms do not get air conditioning to the rooms. The water jumps from hot to cold dangerously. The window unit took me 4 hours to clean the mold out on the first day. The place sucked. Never again.

Stayed Apr 22, 2025We loved the area. We loved having access (just a few blocks) to the ferry to go into Norfolk. The unit was just what we wanted: quiet, plenty of room for us with two bedrooms. Kitchen had all we needed. Loved the outside veranda especially in the morning.

Stayed Apr 3, 2025Me and a friend were in town for a concert and decided to arrive the night before and leave the next of the event, this house was perfect and had so much character to it, being in the historic part of Portsmouth, we knew exactly what to expect! If we ever go back that away, we will definitely rent it again.

Stayed Oct 28, 2024our three night stay was great. The apartment was clean and the owner was very responsive whenever we had questions. It was made very clear prior to choosing this property that it was an older building. Some of the interior doors don't close properly and the floor creaks pretty good in spots but this by no means takes away from the properties quaint charm. There are restaurants and entertainment within walking distance as well as ferries that can take you to waterside. Everything was as described and worked as described. The only thing I want to warn against is the stairs to the apartment, they could be pretty tough for the elderly, anyone with bad knees or handicapped people. I would definitely stay again.

Stayed Sep 19, 2024We really liked Olde Town; the location was great, and close to the seawall and lots of historical buildings. The house itself was old and seemed a bit run-down (not everything worked), but the owners were responsive to addressing urgent concerns, and the price was good.

Stayed Nov 9, 2024My friend and I wanted to stay somewhere near the Norfolk Amtrak station while we visited here for the long weekend. This home in Old Town Portsmouth is in a pretty neighborhood and a short walk to a lot of cafes, shops, and the local ferry. It fit our needs quite well and it was a comfortable and spacious stay! We also enjoyed all the neighborhood cats and the takeout food we ordered that was delivered here with no issues. The owner was also quite nice and left us a frozen pizza and some chips and hummus for our arrival! There were some drawbacks. The area is a little rough, so I’m glad we stayed together - one night, we heard a guy yelling outside at 2 am and there were four police cars surrounding him. Nothing else happened, but it did make us both lose some sleep. In my room, there was an active wasp nest in the window. Again, the bugs did not cause any injuries and when I let the owner know, he responded about it right away to say he could send a maintenance man to take care of it. My friend also tried to dry her clothes in the in-unit dryer. For some reason, it didn’t dry anything despite running as if it was going to. Again, the owner responded right away and let us know he could send someone to fix this. I also personally think the sheets were not the softest, but they were definitely clean and the beds and furniture were all in very good repair. All minor stressors, I would say, but certainly something to consider if you want to stay in this neighborhood.

Stayed Nov 1, 2024Everything went well. Property is in old Towne Portsmouth so know it is a older house. Great communication, easy parking (street) tons of local food places in walking distance as well as a farmers market/craft vendors that was fun and a thrift/flea market near on Saturdays. Only downfall was need better toilet paper. Maybe bring some of your own. Perfect other than that small detail

Stayed Jul 16, 2024As described in the listing, this house is very old and with that age comes some quirks, like creaky floors. This is a lovely home with age appropriate wear and tear. The home is clean and well stocked with kitchen supplies, bedding, etc. I won't say it's perfect, and it could use a few updates, but it is comfortable and clean for sure! If we return to the Norfolk area in the future we will definitely stay here again. Thanks for a lovely stay!
