Fun fact:
You can catch glimpses of our building in several major movies and TV shows including Harriet, The Walking Dead, Lincoln, Dopesick and Mercy Street.
Petersburg is famous for it’s rich Civil War history and is home to many sites such as Pamplin Park, The National Battlefield and much more for history buffs to enjoy.
In recent years, Petersburg has risen to become a prime location site for Hollywood period films because of its Civil War past and well-preserved historic downtown area. It is not unusual to find yourself walking past a movie set. In fact, there is a production crew setting up right outside our door as we write this!
Some notable movies & TV filmed in Petersburg are: Harriet, The Walking Dead, Lincoln, Ithica, Mercy Street, Juanita, Turn: Washington Spies, Killing Kennedy, Dopesick & more!
Here's what Meg Ryan had to say about Old Towne Petersburg: “Petersburg was great to us ... and Sycamore Street is just a beautiful street.” “I just loved being there. I loved it” (Richmond Magazine interview)
A beautifully restored historic property. We were very comfortable and enjoyed being in the oldest part of Petersburg.
Cute, cozy, and beautiful stay that overlooks Petersburg. Hosts are very responsive and listing is accurate.
The renovation of this apartment in a historic building is extremely well done. Be aware that there are several flights of stairs to climb to gain access to the apartment. Our only issue was that the weather at Christmas was unusually cold and the apartment was chilly, except upstairs in the master bedroom. We only stayed one night out of our booking because of a medical emergency so I can’t give a more complete review than these impressions.
We loved our stay in this beautiful historic building. The apartment was super clean and had everything we needed. Thank you!!
We stayed here for a wedding in the area and loved every minute of it. Our 7 month old baby had plenty of space to move around. The apartment is decorated so cute and we loved the history behind it. Would definitely stay here again!
We enjoyed our stay here while visiting our son stationed at Ft Lee. It was convenient to there. The house was well stocked and comfortable. The views were impressive. The natural light was fun. It’s a hike up the stairs but good for the heart. The loud music at night was only a small issue as I had my ear plugs and white noise. We found plenty of shops and restaurants just out our door.
We all really enjoyed staying in your home! It’s always a pleasure to experience a fantastic location. Everything was as stated, great location for us to spend some good together! Thanks for sharing your home. We would definitely stay here again!
The apartment was charming and had everything we needed for a weekend getaway. We were there on business however our nights were restful and the environment was comfortable. Regan and Mark were gracious hosts who made the check in/check out process smooth. They were helpful and answered all of my questions. I will definitely stay at the Friend House again if I travel back to Petersburg VA.
We had tickets to see a show in Richmond and availability for places to stay there were scarce. But Petersburg and this apartment were just perfect. The hosts were nice and very accommodating. Loved the historic location, and building. The apartment was charming, very comfortable, and had absolutely everything we needed. Pack light so you can trek up the stairs with ease. I also recommend you bring silicone earplugs as they beat foam any day. With both of these things in mind, the views, the coziness, and the location are all worth your while! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
We rented this home for a mini - family reunion. It was perfect for our family. We especially loved that the home had toys, games and puzzles that kept the kiddos happy and busy on the rainy day. Another bonus was the many eateries and quaint shops all in walking distance. Perfect weekend getaway!
