Summary:

Location is everything! Come stay in this gorgeous, recently renovated and family friendly townhome on this lovely block in the historic Mount Pleasant neighborhood – one of Washington, D.C.’s most beautiful, diverse, and neighborly areas.

The Space:

You will be staying in the lower level of a classic historic DC rowhouse. This bright, stylish, and spacious apartment has just been furnished with amazing attention to detail to make your stay ascomfortable as possible.

The home is centrally located and is a walk, bike ride, or short drive away from the best DC has to offer. All around are peaceful, neighborly, tree-lined streets of historic Mount Pleasant – a true village in the city. We are a block away from the commercial center of the neighborhood, where there are multiple restaurants and options for coffee, baked goods, meals, groceries, etc. We are a 10-minute stroll to the nearest metro station (Columbia Heights). And we are .5 miles from D.C.’s beautiful and much-loved Rock Creek Park. There you’ll find miles of riverside trails -- great for biking and running or an evening picnic. For people traveling with children, there are multiple options nearby, including playgrounds, ice cream and pizza shops, the National Zoo (a 10-minute walk away), and the many other kid-friendly options DC offers.

We comfortably sleep 4 adults, or a small family in our 2 bedrooms, furnished with a queen-sized bed and a full-sized bed. Each room has its own updated bathroom for ultimate convenience.

For families traveling together, the apartment includes a Pac N Play, kids utensils (plates / cups), and more!

As you walk in, you enter the living room with a large and open plan that lets loads of light come in from the southern-facing windows. With exposed brick, a gorgeous chefs kitchen and bright lights, the space feels open and airy. For those who are working from home, there is plenty of workspace at the kitchen island, and also at the built-in window dining area.

Guest Access:

Guests have access to the entire unit and will have their own private and entirely separate entrance.

There is a family living upstairs. Please note that the everyday sounds and noises of family life (footsteps, stairs, kids playing, etc.) can be heard in both directions. You will undoubtedly hear them (and they will hear you) as they go about their everyday life.

Rooms in the apartment are equipped with sound machines and complimentary earplugs for those who like to sleep in.

Rooms in the apartment are also equipped with Sonos Speakers; guests can enjoy their own personal soundtrack from room to room!

The Neighborhood:

Mount Pleasant's rich historical connection to D.C. has made it a diverse, cultured and community-driven neighborhood. Complete with it's own main street, beautiful historic rowhouses, playgrounds, and tree-lined streets; guests can enjoy a small town feel in the heart of our Nation's Capitol.

The neighborhood boasts excellent amenities including cafes, grocery stores, restaurants and more. Guests can walk to two of Washingtonian's top 10 restaurants in DC (Tail Up Goat in Adams Morgan, and Elle 2 blocks away on Mt Pleasant Street).

Nearby Columbia Heights neighborhood has a plethora of dining, shopping and entertainment options! With excellent proximity to public transportation, you are not limited to the area, but you may not want to leave!

With boutiques and family owned shops intermingled with national retailers so you could get lost in, any shopper will find something up their alley! Stroll the mural lined streets and take in a show at the Tivoli Theater in lovely Columbia Heights!

We are a stones throw from some of DC’s trendiest areas; The ever lively 14th Street Corridor is a great area and has something for everyone; bars, restaurants, galleries, boutiques, coffee shops, music venues, and vintage stores.

The U St Corridor which houses some of the best nightlife in the District is also a short distance further south from the apartment - the amazing music, food, and drink scene is a great way to spend an evening, and soak up the DC experience.

Getting Around:

We are just over 10 minutes on foot from Columbia Heights metro station. From there guests have access to the green and yellow lines. You can also catch several buses that whisk you all over the city, and nearby capital bike share stations.

Interaction with Guests:

We are always available for any questions or issues that may arise during your stay.

Very clean space, amazing location on a quiet street near lots of good restaurants. The host family lives above with children so it could be a little noisy in the morning for sensitive sleepers, but otherwise 10/10.

Very nice basement apartment in Mt. Pleasant area. Walking distance to many options. Parking is a challenge but we were able to navigate it and neighborhood was shady and family friendly.

All good other than inability to get thermostat to raise the temperature. Was 68 when we arrived. Despite multiple attempts to reset the thermostat, could not get the “ measured” temp above 72. This actually felt like 65, and was a massive waste of energy. It was 96-98 outside, so I am happy it was too cold vs too hot. But needed to wear sweatshirts to keep warm. Otherwise a lovely place to stay.

The property was perfect for our family of 4 with separate bedrooms and bathrooms, plus a fully stocked kitchen and nice living room/dining room. It was two blocks to a main road with restaurants, bars, and grocery stores. 1/2 mile walk to the metro was very convenient. Parking was on the street and tough to find a spot depending on the time of day. Our only complaint was there was only one washcloth and towel per person so we had to do laundry every day so they were clean. Stackable units in the apt worked good though. We really enjoyed our stay.

Lovely apartment in a quaint neighborhood. Beautifully decorated and a comfortable sleep. Only issue is we could not figure out how to open the patio door in the first bedroom.

Pristinely clean apartment. Made extensive Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dishes. Kitchen was extremely well equipped for a rental property. Especially helpful were the heavy bottomed Emeril series pots and pans, as well as the 5 burner gas range and oven. Really appreciated all of that since we made a ton of food!

We made a last minute weekend trip since we had to pick up our daughter at the Dulles Airport on a Monday afternoon. This basement home was super cute, spacious, and clean. Very little noise from upstairs, but it was nice that the owner already mentioned that there might be some noise in the advertised listing so we knew to possibly expect it. Loved the complimentary coffee brand/flavor. Would have loved to have had some nearby restaurant recommendations. We went to Beau Thai and really enjoyed the food. We walked to the nearby metro both days to go into Washington. There are a lot of homeless people on Mt. Pleasant Street, along with a lot of restaurant patrons, so if you are uncomfortable with that you should take an Uber. Would definitely try to stay here again.

The apartment was as others have reported regarding positive neighborhood, upstairs noise, awesome cleanliness. The plastic cooking utensils are a negative and are worn out. The management company was immediately responsive to all needs and questions, especially when the electronic door lock malfunctioned but the trouble shooting was immediate and problem resolved. The billing process with VRBO was deceptive and we feel the management company should work with them to make it more transparent that you are charged an ADDITIONAL $115 directly from the management company after you have already been billed by VRBO for what you are supposed to be paying. That factor cast a negative vibe on our whole experience and neither entity was willing to understand the situation about the hidden cost.

A family visit with my adult children in a cute up and coming neighborhood. The homes in the neighborhood, and this one in particular, are lovely. This apartment was very thoughtfully created and is very comfortable and well located.

The location of this home is great. Walking distance from restaurants and close to all the tourist attractions in the area. The only con is the parking.... We parked the car and did ride share.

My stay here was very comfortable. The space had items that we needed, the beds were comfy and the location was ideal. We walked most places to get food to eat and the options were endless. The rental owners were communicative and prompt.

My friend & I stayed 4 nights in this delightful hideaway. We each wanted our own bedroom & bathroom, so it worked out well. The unit is updated beautifully and has a full kitchen; pots, pans, dishes, silverware glassware etc. dishwasher, washer & dryer. Beds were comfy. Very quiet and walkable, friendly neighborhood with mini mart and restaurants a couple blocks away. I would definitely re t here again. Lara was great and responsive when I had a question. Street parking is hit or miss, but we hit it right every time!
