GETTING HERE:
FROM NASSAU: Western Air Bahamas regularly flies around 1:00pm between Nassau and Cat Island, check their website for exact dates and times. We recommend arriving Nassau approximately 2 hours before your flight departs for Cat Island as flights sometimes leave early.
FROM FORT LAUDERDALE: Maker's Air flies from Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport directly into Cat Island and offers multiple flights throughout the week. Please check their site for days and times.
Just right for two people. The location couldn’t get any better.
We loved the almost new cottage that is private, well equipped, and on a beautiful beach. It is the second to the last house on a sand road and is between 2 other houses, but the landscaping blocks them quite well. Didn't see anyone a 1 house the whole time and only a couple of days at the other. Once past the last house the beach is totally private and wonderful for walking at low tide which lets you get a little further around the coral rocks near the point. Maybe you could get further, but that is where we stopped. In the other direction past Greenwood Resort (closed when we were there in Nov) the beach goes for further than we ever did. Rented a car from Alvernia for $460 for the week - not bad considering the high prices for everything else. Driving consists of swerving around potholes which are everywhere. Don't take the rocky road that your GPS may tell you to that looks like a shortcut - go to the roundabout. Best food we had for a fair price was at the Bluebird. The best advise we have is to get naked, have a cocktail and spend your time at the cottage and the beach - that's why you came, isn't it? Pete & Donna
What an exquisite and secluded gem nestled within Cat Island! Our stay here was an absolute delight. The charming house was impeccably maintained and thoughtfully furnished, catering to our every need. From the moment we landed, Danny welcomed us with a warm smile, effortlessly coordinated our rental car, and graciously addressed all our island inquiries. Throughout our stay, he maintained continuous communication, ensuring no question went unanswered. The hosts, Shari, Steve, and Danny, were incredibly accommodating, ensuring we lacked nothing during our stay. The pristine beach, graced by only a couple of fellow wanderers during our entire visit, was a true marvel. If tranquility and an unspoiled beachfront are what you seek, this is unequivocally the destination for you. The locals of Cat Island extended their warmest hospitality. While they may initially appear reserved, a simple conversation would unveil their eagerness to share their stories and culture. It was a picture-perfect getaway for my wife and me, all thanks to the impeccable hospitality of Shari, Steve, and Danny!
This spotless, well equipped beach cottage was on the most beautiful beach, I have ever seen and I’m a Floridian who has seen many beaches. It was perfect for a romantic vacation celebrating our 30 year anniversary. It offered plenty of privacy. We walked over a mile on the soft pink sand beach and never saw another person. If skinny dipping in crystal clear warm turquoise waters is your thing, then this place is for you! The hosts and caretaker were exceptional to work with. We would definitely go back.
We had a very good rental experience & would return. The hosts & caretaker responded quickly & were great working with us to meet our needs. The beach cottage itself is better than I expected & is designed to make the most of the space. We had plenty of room for the two of us. The cabinet bed is comfortable & we left it out the duration of our stay. The kitchen has just about anything one would need. The microwave also functions as an oven, air fryer, toaster, etc. There is AC, but we shut it off, opened the doors & windows (there are good screens that keep noseeums out) & the breeze kept the place cool. It is total relaxation falling asleep to the sound of the ocean waves. The water hose will uncoil to reach the edge of the concrete patio--we washed the sand off at the steps & it eliminated so much of the tracking of sand inside. They also have a foot wash by the door, an added benefit for keeping any remaining sand out. They had two containers of water from a Cat Island well chilled in the refrigerator. We had no problem drinking it & refilled them when we drove into New Bight--and it's free! The wind was strong during our stay--great for keeping bugs away but rough for snorkeling along the reefs in front of the cottage. The beach is beautiful & one can literally walk for miles & rarely pass another person. The internet is not reliable & we often turned wifi off everything but one device to stay connected when it was working--not unusual for other Cat Island rentals though.
