These are my observations based on that experience.Location: Great! It is quiet, clean and central to a lot of good things: Wrigley Field, Boystown, parks along the lake, and lots of good eats. The apartment: This place is old so the floor creeks with every step. The inside was clean when we arrived, including the linens and towels. The bathroom was clean but desperate need of a face lift. However, the windows looked like they haven’t been cleaned in years. We were even joking that we couldn’t tell if it was sunny or overcast. The apartment has a small terrace that overlooks the street. We didn’t use it because everything out there was absolutely dirty. What’s not mentioned is that this is a 3rd floor walk-up, no elevator. So lugging our bags up three flights and down again when we left was not much fun, not to mention all the times we returned back from a long day out in the city. The listing also shows a washer/dryer amongst the amenities. This is very misleading and one reason this apartment lost stars. There is no washer/dryer in the apartment at all. The machines (coin operated, 2/load) are located in the creepy basement of the adjoining building with the access through the back. So that is four levels down via the outside steps facing the alley. Communication: I tried getting the actual address (the one in the listing is not) so I could arrange airport transport but I was put off continuously and didn’t get address and check-in until the morning of.

This is the only bad experience / one star review I’ve ever left. We were very excited to book. Excellent location and beautiful apartment. Unfortunately, when we got there the apartment did not have any power (except to one room). They were not surprised when we told them this. We contacted them and they literally made us go down to the terrifying “basement” to try to flip the breaker (which did not work). They were trying to get ahold of maintenance the entire night. Waited until 1 am to tell us we could get a hotel and they would refund one night of our stay. We ended up staying with a friend Friday night because the apartment was like 90. No one came to fix the power until like 6 pm and even after they came out, the living room still never got power back. We requested a refund for the trip because it was absolutely miserable and we barely spent any time here. We were also dealing with the drama the entire first night of our trip which ruined our night and our trip was only two days… We haven’t heard anything back about the refund… just save your money and get a hotel. Was so sad this didn’t end up working out
