This original apartment was planned by an architect in a quiet lane close to one of the main streets in Venice, within Campo San Polo - one of the most famous and large squares in Venice - and it is 5 minutes walk from the famous RIALTO BRIDGE.

In Campo San Polo there is the 'Querini Dubois Palace' an excellent example of Venetian Renaissance architecture, today used as a cultural Centre also for the Film festival organization. During that event in September, St. Polo’ssquare becomes a moving picture theatre every evening. The apartment is really only a few minutes walk from the public water bus (called 'vaporetto' line 1 SAN STAE or SAN SILVESTRO), and it is situated near Rialto, the oldest area of Venice historic centre in a centuries old building, on the 2nd floor (North American designation, 1st European).

The entrance is through an independent door and stairs used by two apartments, with earthenware floor and original wooden beam ceilings. It offers very easy access to all the city attractions (only a short walk (15 min. - to St. Mark’s square!). Moreover, in the same district you can find 'Basilica dei Frari' a wonderful church full of historical vestiges, including Canova’s grave.

The apartment is perfect for a couple on a romantic holiday, as it offers warmth, privacy, and the comfort of the most central position you could wish for! But also, the apartment can be the perfect, comfortable and convenient base to explore Venice's beauty and discover its alleys, canal, sights - restaurants, bars and Bacari or osterie (characteristic and historic Venetian wine bars with daily SPRITZ. Meeting place where it is possible to eat small fried food and have a chat with friends or even strangers).

Shop and market are round the corner and just in a few steps you are at the fish market 'La Pescaria' famous all over the world (fish, fruit and vegetable). Moreover, only in a short distance from the apartment, you can find some of the most typical and characteristic Venetian restaurants, very interesting for the various gastronomic proposals and for the different service and rates, such as: DA FIORE, one of the most exclusive restaurants in Italy, suitable to very high standard dinner; ANTICHE CARAMPANE, Venetian cuisine, high level, very quiet in a charming corner, VECIO FRITOLIN an old and marvellous tavern in Calle della Regina (Rialto), meeting place for artists and, in a short way away close to them, AL NONO RISORTO for a dinner in the garden; in Campo St. Polo BIRRARIA LA CORTE pizza-restaurant and characteristic Venetian cuisine. While, for visitors of the Biennal Exhibition gardens, AL DIPORTO at St. Elena’s island offers typical dishes and is attended by Venetians.

This property was exceptional. Fantastic location on a small canal with beautiful garden views in Venice. There are many shops and restaurants nearby and the host was really accessible. Top marks Enrico!

First off, Enrico's apartment in San Polo Venice is very nice, modern and centrally located. However, advanced communications with the owner and his local on-site rep (Mrs. Marino) were a problem.1. We waited one hour with our luggage for her to show up at the agreed meeting spot.2. She seemed very unhappy.3. She took us on a high speed chase to the apartment while we pulled our luggage over rough streets and bridges. We kept asking her to slow down (we are both in our 70s.)4. Mrs. Marino did not speak any English. So, all communications went through Google translate on her cell. This included 20 minutes of confused discussion about a cash city tax (which we paid). After she left, we read Enrico's English printed instructions left on the table. There were inconsistencies. His book said you could set heating/cooling temperatures as needed, but the thermostat had a DO NOT TOUCH note on it. The first two nights we were freezing cold until I found the system wasn't even turned on. When I turned it on, we were fine. There were no sheets for the pull-out bed in the living room which my wife needed to use (we snore). Trash instructions were confusing. There was an 8-hour electrical blackout (apparently common) with confusing instructions. This apartment is not close by Vaporetto as implied (San Stae - 20 min). A water taxi stop is nearby (Remer Sq. - 5 min). If we had known more details in advance and/or spoke Italian, things would have been much easier.

We very much enjoyed Enrico’s apartment. We loved the location which was very convenient in San Polo enabling access in many directions, yet very quiet and with fine canal views. It was spacious and well appointed with a good stock of grocery necessities should you want to self-cater. And it had lots of character. We would happily stay there again and enjoy even more of the unique character of wonderful Venice.

Upon arrival to Venice: Unfamiliar w/ new country, new language & vasporato was overwhelming. We boarded the water bus we were told to get on but it went the opposite direction we had intended to go. Immediately contacted Enrico w/ our delay. 37 min into our mistake we messaged Enrico again to tell him we were walking to find the apartment & Marina, who we were to meet. Minutes later we got a text message from Luca, from our viewpoint was degrading, stating, “…suggest you find a quick solution”. We never were told to contact Luca. There was definitely a language barrier when finally meeting up with Luca as he was very argumentative for at least 7 min at which we interrupted him & said, “just take us to the apartment”. Needless to say, not a great start when meeting with Luca. No reply back due to “phone trouble” per Enrico. The location is the best. The Hideaway needs a facelift. Revisit IKEA.Towels are thin & smell like mildew after 1 use. Same with kitchen towel. Couldn’t wash them for Luca gave us 1 washing pod for our week stay. Suggest to be a little more generous w/the laundry soap for other guests. Towel warmer does not work. Shower walls/floors w/ black residue. Kitchen skillet, teapot have broken handles. Ice trays broken Above stove vent falls down upon touching. Kitchen sink slow to drain-had to poke through black residue for drainage. Bedsheets worn, smelly, & come off corners. Sofa & throw pillows stained/faded Hope others enjoy the stay

Enrico’s place was very clean and conveniently located. Luca met me at the vaporetto stop and walked me through the apartment, which was helpful and he gave recommendations around the city. The air conditioning worked great. No complaints.

My husband and I had a pleasant stay at Enrico’s Hideaway accommodation. We stayed 8 nights and really appreciated the hospitality and quietness of the neighborhood. It was our first visit to Venice and the location of the apartment was ideal as it was close enough to the main points of interest on the beautiful island of Venice and far enough away to experience peace and quiet for resting each night.
