The host did not provide an accurate address. Both the street address and zip code were incorrect. When I tried to message and call, there was no response from the owner for 24 hours. It seems the owner is using a chatbot to send and receive messages. I did ultimately find the property a day late by reading some of negative reviews left by others. Specifically the address provided did not indicate if it was NE or NW. From the drop pin in the original listing, it made sense that it would be NW but it was actually NE.
Property was a wonderful place for our family vacation. Clean and as advertised. Be aware that it is in the NE quadrant and the map shows NW. This isn't an issue as it is 1 block to the free street trolley and then 3 stops (about a mile) to the Metro station. Location made using public transportation for easy to get all around Washington, DC. Communication with the property manager was fast and efficient. All questions were answered promptly and they helped make our vacation a great experience. .
Great location! Kids slept on the couch and we stayed in the bedroom. Free streetcar to Union Station and a comfortable walk to everything. I had hoped to receive check in information earlier than an hour before we arrived and we had to share 3 towels, but overall it was a great stay!
2 things: 1) the listing says this is in NW DC in Chinatown a block away from metro. It even has a map saying so. It is actually almost a mile away in NE DC. The property manager tried to placate me with information about the house and neighborhood.... etc. It was too late to change but I had picked this place specifically for its proximity to the business I had come to town for. 2) When I got to the property, put in my code and opened the door a young lady who was asleep on the couch woke up and started screaming for her father who was in the bedroom. Thankfully they were friendly enough to let me in and talk. We realized the house had been double booked under a different listing and different owner on vrbo. I ended up calling uber and having them take me to my old office where I tossed and turned in a chair the rest of the night. I use vrbo a lot and to have something like this happen is terrifying. I could have been shot. Crazy thing is when I called vrbo that night, they said they needed proof that someone else was staying there and asked if I had taken a picture. I could see myself now trying to get them to stand outside of the house so I could take a pic at 1230 at night in their pajamas. Come on man!!!!! FIX THIS!!! When I called the owner the next day of course he blamed vrbo said it had happened before and refunded my money back to my account. Which took 2 days. None the less I wasted time the next day trying to find a different place to stay.
This location is listed incorrectly. The location is stated as Chinatown, but is completely wrong. I had to spend $40 in ubers and an hour to get to the correct location. I purposely booked a stay in chinatown only to get a property miles away. I had to reach out multiple times to the host to get the check in information despite being told it would be sent to me.
Stayed here for four days and three nights, it was located a few minutes from Union Station. Just cross the street from the station to the H street cable car (4 stops I believe) and you were down the street from the home. It was clean and organized. The neighborhood was quiet, it was overall a great stay and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who asks me if I know a place in DC.
