Bethesda, Maryland
Welcoming and light-filled suite, on the bottom level of our home, with a lush garden entrance and small private yard. Only a 7 minutes walk to Bethesda metro which takes you downtown to Metro Center in 17 minutes. Easy access to Washington DC museums and monuments.
The south-facing ground-level backyard patio entrance is surrounded by flowers (in season) and mature trees. Inside, there is a living room with a large couch, an office area and reading nook, a kitchenette, a dining area, a very clean bathroom and a bedroom area with a new queen-sized bed.
100% of the electric power supply is generated from clean, emissions-free wind power, and products and supplies are chosen based on being environmentally friendly and fair trade.
Price is discounted because of heavy footsteps from our area of the house (mostly noticeable during college vacation days when my sons are home) and the walkway is being worked on so there is a section of walkway which is stepping stones through grass.
Note that rental taxes are included in the total as this location only charges taxes on rental less than 30 days, so the discount for long-term stays also includes a discount from not having to pay taxes on that amount.
Erika's home is the perfect place to stay when traveling through Bethesda. Super clean, and its clear how much thought she has put in to making each guest's stay comfortable: plenty of outlets/USB ports, great instructions covering any questions you may have, and coffee! Also, her garden is beautiful and you feel like you're staying in your own home rather than a sterile hotel. I was visiting for a training at the NIH, and her home is a 20min walk from the Gateway Center, most of which can be done through suburban side streets. And you're also super close to downtown Bethesda (~5min walk), which makes it really easy to get to DC on the metro or grab dinner at the bars/restaurants in Bethesda. I plan on booking Erika's house whenever I'm back in town and highly recommend it to other travelers!
My wife and I, along with our newborn and dog, stayed in this unit for about a month while I had work conferences in the D.C. area, and I'm definitely glad we chose to stay here! It's located in a beautiful and safe neighborhood within a few blocks of downtown Bethesda and the Red Line Metro, so the location could not be better. The unit itself has everything you need for a long term stay at a price that cannot be beaten for the area. Erika is an exceptional host who is extremely responsive to anything you may need during your stay. For example, my in-laws decided to visit the D.C. area while we were there, and the hotel at which they were staying had no parking available. When mentioning this to Erika, she immediately expressed willingness to obtain a temporary parking pass so they could park on the street in front of her house. If you are looking for a place to stay in D.C. or Bethesda areas, I HIGHLY recommend booking with Erika.
We stayed one week and had everything we needed...two blocks from Metro for close access everywhere in DC area. Plus a parking spot for our car when we drove about. We slept well in the apartment and enjoyed the excellent restaurants and cafes within walking distance. We would definitely recommend this accommodation. Thank you, Ms. Wynd.
This is a great little apartment. A nice shape with everything you could want provided and a very accommodating host upstairs. Bed very comfortable, nice bathroom, cute kitchenette. A few more dishes would be nice and maybe a sharp knife. Nice to have games on hand and a Wii. The walkway to the entrance is a bit treacherous and awkward for bringing luggage. It looks as though she is working on improving it.
Such a lovely place to stay! The space has character and the neighborhood is beautiful and safe. Property is just blocks from the Metro and a grocery store (fold-up cart available!). Erika was extremely helpful and attentive. The bed is comfortable, which is so important since I have a bad back. I also loved the apartment uses sustainable energy. I have stayed in many vrbos, and I couldn't have been more pleased with this one. I look forward to staying here again next time. Highly recommended!
Nice and cozy efficiency. We enjoyed our stay and Erika is great to work with.
I feel sad writing this review, as the owner of the property was a very pleasant and helpful person, but the property is not one that should be rented. It is a dingy basement. The furniture is out of the 80s and the place is not really clean. The so-called garden is fenced off and you're left with 2 sad lawn chairs sitting on concrete. There is no bedroom door. The kitchen is next to the bathroom. But the most difficult part was the almost constant clomping around from the upstairs. Bethesda is lovely and the property is near the Metro station with easy access to Washington.
private, comfortable, cozy and very accessible. short walk to metro and downtown Bethesda. Wonderful and attentive owner; helpful at all times. will definitely go back to stay when I return to the Washington DC area. coffee, tea etc. were provided for daily use (a very nice touch) .
Our time in Erika's house was great, the place is independent, well located and filled with details that makes your stay easier. We had some snow when we were there and had to stay a couple of days at home with a couple toddlers and we had many things to do: videogames, boardgames, lot of solutions for cooking... Erika was also a very nice host and very helpful, even when we had my mother arriving to the city before we expected and had to accommodate her in the room with us.
