The Neighborhood:

Dupont Circle, named for Civil War hero Admiral Samuel F. Dupont, is the grand hub of D.C., literally. This traffic circle is essentially the intersection of the main thoroughfares of Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts avenues. More important though, the area around the circle is a vibrant center for urban and cultural life in the District.

Along with wealthy tenants and basement-dwelling young adults, museums, art galleries, and embassies call this upscale neighborhood home. Offbeat shops, specialty bookstores, coffeehouses, and varied restaurants help the area stay funky and urban.

The Logan Circle neighborhood runs to the east along P Street and stretches north along the 14th Street Corridor, where sidewalk cafés, a handful of sights, and two theaters—Source DC and Studio—draw a lively nightlife crowd.

Add to the mix stores and clubs catering to the neighborhood's gay community and this area becomes a big draw for nearly everyone. Perhaps that's why the fountain at the center of the Dupont traffic island is such a great spot for people-watching.

Very nice, clean unit in great location. Had dimmer at Le Diplomate followed by a play at Studio Theatre, all a short walk away. Also, ten minute walk to DuPont Circle.

The downstairs unit is in a nice neighborhood with restaurants within walking distance. It is only 1-1.5 miles from most DC sites. We saw some lovely homes on our way out in all directions. Since the unit is downstairs, there is some upstairs noise (old building) but it was quiet at bedtime. The common area furniture was not comfortable for relaxing after a day of walking. The daybed included cushions that leaned against the door that separated the rooms; it was unstable and did not provide good TV viewing. I recommend the purchase of a couple of cushioned chairs or a loveseat with a back. We requested an extra blanket upon arriving. There was some back and forth texts with the host questioning why we needed the blanket and it was never provided. The kitchen was adequately stocked. I appreciated the extra shelving in the bedroom and bathroom. There was a nice front window with seating around it to view the street. There was also a small patio where we sat one evening with our wine. Overall a nice stay and we enjoyed the DC sites!
