We enjoyed our stay and loved the neighborhood. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware, dishes, and utensils. The stove and oven worked great. While there were many other kitchen appliances we did not have the occasion to use them. Thank you
We appreciated the ease of checkin in and the character of the old building. Also ate at 2 nearby yummy restaurants! The grocery store and metro station are close and very convenient.
Convenient to metro, grocery and great restaurants
Excellent location in regards to Grocery and Short walk with Easy Access to Public Transportation. Quiet / Safe Neighborhood. Property does require some minimum updates and or maintenance that does not directly effect the ability to have a pleasant stay.
The property was accurately listed and well run. The layout is odd - as others have mentioned, you enter the apartment through the main bedroom, which doubles as a living room - but this worked out just fine for us. (It might be a problem for a group whose members would be arriving and leaving at varying hours.) The interior condition and some of the furnishings are old but perfectly serviceable; shower areas in both bathrooms appear recently remodeled. Everything seemed quite clean except one blanket, which we could have quickly washed there if needed (good, recent model laundry machines are provided). When I had a question after arriving, the owners gave quick and helpful answers by text message, and offered in-person help if needed. The neighborhood is mixed, interesting, and generally attractive, and residents seem to have community pride. Lots of useful stores and interesting restaurants nearby. The only drawback we noticed was that (typically for a converted older building), air conditioning was less efficient upstairs than downstairs. There is a single standing fan for air circulation; we could have used another. Overall, we were glad we chose it rather than a hotel.
Great location, very comfortable bed. Kitchen is a little small with only 4 chairs.
My family stayed here for our first trip to dc. It was a great location, convient to metro, grocery and restaurants. Communicatuon with owner was easy. Neighborhood was quiet.
we very much enjoyed our trip to Washington DC. There were 6 guests and the 13 year old 7th grader is so into history that this was THE trip of his young life. Our guest house was perfect and even though there were other guests, it was very private and secure. Everything was as described and the neighborhood was so cool . Great restaurants in walking distance. we highly recommend this location. Easy Metro access, safe and vibrant neighborhood. Very much enjoyed our stay. Can't wait to return
This property was perfect for our short stay! The location was easy to navigate and close to stores, restaurants, and metro line. Beds were so comfy and clean.
Manager was extremely responsive. The place was nice, but it was a hundred years old with the weirdnesses you'd expect.
I booked this property for a bridal party weekend in DC. We were having an issue finding a property with 4 separate beds and decided to take chance. We were not disappointed. I was a little worried about parking but there’s plenty of 2 hour street parking to load/unload your luggage and the paid parking lot at Giant (less than block walk) was $30 for the entire weekend. The property itself is gorgeous! The beds were incredibly comfortable, even the bunkbeds. We weren’t able to enjoy the courtyard area due to rain but it’s well maintained and very private. I had the pleasure of meeting the property manager while we were checking out and she’s delightful! I will definitely be renting this property whenever I’m staying in DC. The process from beginning to end was incredibly easy due to constant communication from Lois, the property manager. Great location, great home and great management!
The picture that is shown in the ad is the entry hallway. As you open the door to the unit you walk right into a bedroom with a king bed. The unit was wonderful for the family, had everything we needed kitchen washer dryer 2 bathrooms and two bedrooms other than the king bed. You just have to remember it’s 100 year old building.
The location was absolutely perfect in every way; walking distance to the Metro, shopping, and dining. The host
Lovely 100+ year old brownstone home, converted into several living areas. Ours was 2 story with bedrooms up and downstairs for part is our visit and then a flat in the basement for a couple of nights. It is a comfortable home. Well furnished and stocked. Not always quiet, but that was to be expected. The host/property manager was very responsive when we had a torrential downpour of rain which overran the gutters of the building and caused some water to come into the home. They were there quickly with equipment to clean up the water. We had used all the towels to staunch the flow and they brought us more. The neighborhood is safe and there were all kinds of choices for dining out. There was a supermarket close which was very nice. The metro was a short walk and we utilized it every day.
Our stay short, no issues with the property and I was satisfied with how accommodating the property was for all of us. Whenever I had to reach out to the property manager she responded quickly.
So many issues, had to cut to fit character requirement. Hazards: 1. Faulty, exposed, rigged wring for Halogen lights under the kitchen cabinets. Fire hazard. 2. Holes in the wood flooring of the 2nd story. In the bedroom there are holes under a rug in the flooring. Owner GLUED a throw rug over the holes on to their wood floors!!! to conceal 3. Black mold in the upstairs bedroom. The window in the upstairs bedroom isn't securely attached to the house with gaping cracks all around the window a Black mold/mildew substance is growing in these cracks. As this is also the window for the AC unit, the AC can't efficiently cool the room, as hot air from the outside is rushing in through these cracks. 4. Staircase is so tight that where it turns my husband kept hitting his head on the ceiling. The stair handrail is also wobbly. Putrid, rotting smell coming from somewhere around the staircase. 5. Backdoor to the laundry area has a deadbolt lock that doesn't work. The bolt doesn't go into the hole to secure the door. Laundry room is full of construction debris. Issues with cleanliness: 1. Pubic hair and mold in the downstairs shower. 2. The upstairs mattress has urine and blood stains. 3. Glasses and kitchenware were dusty and dirty. 4. The owner hoards items from past guests. In the upstairs shower there was a crusty half-used bottle of lotion. No one puts on lotion in the shower. There's only one thing I can think of that a person might due with lotion in a shower that has nothing to do with moisturizing... There were half-eaten jars of peanut butter in the kitchen, half-used kids' coloring books left in the upstairs nightstand, the list goes on and on... I understand recycling and reusing things, but it was gross... 5. Carpets and floors were dirty among other things in the house. 6. There were huge rats running around in the front yard. 7. Lied about the size of this unit. The unit we had reserved was listed as 2k square feet - it is MAYBE half that size. Every single room is physically uncomfortable and awkward. 8. No shampoo, conditioner, or body wash provided other than the stuff clearly left by past guests. Though they did put signs threatening inventory of the laundry soap that had one use left in it. To make matters worse, when you called/texted/sent messages through the VRBO chat the owner often refused to respond. INCLUDING HER SELF-DESCRIBED EMERGENCY NUMBER. Fighting to a get refund promised by the owner...
