We booked this cabin to stay during the weekend we were in town to run the Mount Desert Island Half Marathon. The cabin itself was okay, space wise was a bit more comfortable for one person as opposed to two plus pet. The cabin did not have a Brita water filter or a pitcher for filtering the tap water so we had to boil water every time we wanted to drink tap water. That was annoying. The bathroom door does not close properly (or really at all, it just slides but there are huge gaps on the sides) so it was uncomfortable with two people staying in the cabin when one person needed to use the bathroom and wanted privacy. That could be an easy fix and would have made for a better stay. The street the cabin is located on is really dark at night, and there is a lot of stuff (trash, discarded/neglected appliances) laying around on the lawns so it felt a bit like we were staying on a hoarders’ street. When I would take our dog out for walks at night, I had to be careful about where we were stepping to avoid stepping on things that might be sharp. Other than that, the cabin was okay for a short stay but I likely will not rent it again for future visits to Bar Harbor / Mount Desert Maine.
Bed was clean and comfortable. Bathroom was clean. Needs a light over the mirror. Tiny shower, plenty of hot water; well pump short-cycling. Porch smelled musty and porch door sticks. Kitchen was clean, well-lit; one stove burner didn't work; one outlet didnt work; clock didn't work; tiny sink. Dining table needs more light, and ceiling fixture just inside the door flickered constantly. Heater worked well and kept us comfortable. Convenient to Otter Creek Market (seasonal)
The cabin was exactly as expected and in a great spot. Close to the park and Bar Harbor but in a quiet area. Had everything we needed: comfortable bed, hot shower, small kitchen and parking.
Great location. Quite area.
Cute studio sized cabin basically in Acadia National Park. Would have given this place 4 stars however there were a few drawbacks. The bed mattress is slanted at an odd angle. Not sure if it was due to the frame or the actual mattress, but I kept rolling towards my spouse. With the mattress already being small (double/full size) this makes space a little tight. The entertainment amenities listed a tv/Netflix in the booking, however there was no tv in the cabin. Normally this wouldn’t be a problem since we were visiting Acadia to hike, but we had a very rainy night over our stay and we were planning on doing a movie night, until we realized there was no tv. This property is managed by a national agent called Vacasa, so we contacted Vacasa about the tv and a national agent said they would be in contact with the local host who would then contact us. We never heard anything after this interaction. Although there is a router in the cabin the wifi is spotty at best, so I don’t think we could have streamed Netflix even if there was a tv with streaming capabilities. The biggest reason why I’m downgrading this from a 4 to a 3 star review was due to the exorbitant cleaning fee. This is a studio sized cabin for two guests. The cleaning fee should not cost more than one night’s stay at the cabin. The price advertised is then doubled at checkout due to the cleaning fee.
