Di Mari and D'amuri Apartment Porto Empedocle

Planned to stay 2 nights but only stayed 1. We had several issues and we couldn't wait to leave. 1. Owner didn't email us check-in information until 2 hours before arrival so we had to leave Catania not knowing the details of check-in. 2. The property was run-down- mold in the shower, a filthy stove, old kitchen with a half-empty water bottle on the counter, filthy oven and freezer. 3. It was advertised as 2 bedroom but 1 was locked when we arrived. We spent 30 mins. on the phone w Vrbo (which costed us $20)- the owner was a pretty nice guy and eventually arrived (2 hours) and opened the other room. No one could explain why you'd advertise a 2 bedroom but lock 1. We agreed to stay 1 night since it was late and we didn't know the area (not very commercial) but wanted a credit for night 2. He agreed. (We booked a wonderful place across the street at our own expense). Did I mention what looked like a bullet hole in the front door? We have repeatedly contacted Vrbo and were told the owner needed to confirm our issue and agreement. 5 weeks later, no resolution. It's our feeling that both Vrbo and the owner breached our contract by not providing a clean, pleasant place to stay. We stayed at 5 locations over 3 weeks and di not have any issues at any of the others- our expectations are reasonable. We believe Vrbo should have given us a full refund after we sent video and pictures showing what is described above. We are not happy.
