Right when we arrived to the door the area outside of it was covered in water that smelled like sewage poop water which we had to step in just to get inside. We then realized once we got there that the toilet wouldn’t flush unfortunately after one of us at had already used the restroom so we kept having to walk in the heat over to Walgreens and only way to use their restroom was to purchase something and then use theirs. We immediately let the host know about the toilet seat that also was barley hanging on and that the toilet wouldn’t flush and they had someone come in the next day and told us the building plumbing was messed up and nothing they could do. Once we go back from our event we walked back into the place to then realize our place was flooding and the floors were wet all over and some of our belongings were drenched and the place was smelling like the sewage water from outside. We told the owner through text what happened and I told them we couldn’t stay there anymore. They eventually were able to get us another place to stay but we had to leave immediately because water was filling up the place more and more slowly so we unfortunately missed a paid reservation at one of the events we came to visit Chicago for that weekend so we could move locations so we could sleep in a place that had a working toilet and didn’t smell like urine and fences unfortunately. I wish they would’ve checked the toilet we stayed here. This was an awful experience.

Host was easily reached with questions. Very cozy apartment and atmosphere. Apartment is located to many restaurants that are walkable. Very comfortable stay while visiting family that lives in the neighborhood.

On our way to Chicago we noticed the review of our room. I wish we had been told of the state of our room earlier. Communication could have been better. We were offered a replacement room which was very nice. We had problems getting in because we were directed to the wrong lock box. Not a great start to our stay.
