Gibbon, Nebraska
Located one mile east of the Audubon Rowe Crane Sanctuary where the Sandhill Cranes stay during their annual Spring migration this just completed yurt sits directly under the flyway where the crane return to their roost every night. This is the only accommodation in Nebraska where you can roll out of bed and witness the cranes fly over from your own private deck. The photography opportunities are extraordinary.
Dancing Crane Yurt is the ultimate glamping experience that cannot be experienced anywhere else. A pellet stove (instructions provided) keeps guests warm and toasty. A small kitchenette allows for basic food preparation. A private bathroom in the yurt contains a shower, sink and composting toilet; however, the washer and dryer are located in the host's home just across the backyard.
We loved our stay at the Dancing Crane Yurt. We were surrounded by the cranes' music all day long. The 6 snowfall our first night only added to the beauty of the area. Terry was a gracious and helpful host at all times. Thanks!
The place was amazing.... That's all I can say! So lucky to have been able to book this place!!!! Terry s very kind and helpful!!!
Unique amazing property . Quiet with gorgeous views.
I agonized over this review. The yurt was very nearly perfect but since I work in hospitality I am slightly nitpicky. First of all, the excellent: This place has CHARACTER. Charming, bohemian, relaxing. If you are coming to watch the cranes you could not ask for a more convenient spot. I was lucky enough to have them roost in the adjacent field one day, a day that was warm enough to just sit out on the deck and observe. (Observation...they didn't do much.) The yurt is well furnished with everything you could need for a stay. Seriously...it even has a yoga mat. And a hula hoop. The kitchen is tiny but adorable and well stocked. The bed? I have never slept better in a strange bed. There's a range of seating options. Nitpicky reasons why I knocked off one star: Bathroom sink did not work. Could I work around it? Yes. Should I have had to? No. If you are renting to the public you have an obligation, that's just the nature of hospitality. I understand a booked season, but you make it work. In the hotel business that means taking rooms out of service. If I am renting a condo/house/yurt that says it has a bathroom sink, there needs to be a sink. Second reason is minor. This was, in addition to the cranes, a reading vacation for me. And the yurt is not well lit enough for comfortable nighttime reading. Had this been prior to the time change I would have been extremely disappointed. In the daytime there is plenty of light from the top skylight. After dark...the light at the top is not bright enough for reading. There are some lamps along the walls, but not bright enough for sustained reading. The two lights that look like they would be positioned well for reading are solar and do not work in the winter when window flaps aren't open. Disappointing, but if you are forewarned this is manageable by bringing your own clip on book light which is why I take the time to mention it. I would still happily recommend this property with the caveat of making sure everything is functioning. (Also, hot water lasts about 1 minute. This fits with my impression of an eco yurt and I have experienced worse. I am also willing to consider this might be user error and I just missed something. But ask, if you consider it vital.)
Celebrating birthday and retirement with my sister! We had a great time relaxing and enjoying our yurt experience! Very comfy and cozy! Well stocked for a relaxing stay! Host was so kind and helpful! I'll definitely be back!! Loved it!
Fun staying at the yurt and experiencing the Sandhill crane migration. Always looking for a unique experience and this was certainly one.
The Dancing Crane Yurt is a unique, fantastic place to get away from it all! Terry was a kind, responsive host, and we really enjoyed the space. We will definitely be back!
An interior that is beautifully decorated with well thought out floor plan makes this yurt a truly unique and one of a kind stay! The host Terry lives close by to be on hand for any questions or needs but has plenty of privacy and a stunning view of the sunset over the fields!
We were very happy with the property. This is a brand new yurt, well decorated and set up with everything you need inside and out! My wife and I enjoyed an anniversary weekend here close to the best spots to view the birds. We recommend this experience wholeheartedly!
