Cape Charles, Virginia
Located on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. The Lodge was once a thriving motel located in the quaint seaside village of Cheriton. The lodge offers a simple, clean, convenient vacation rental for families, fishing buddies, hunters, weekend away and anyone who just wants a break from life. The Chesapeake Bay beaches are within a 6 mile radius of our Lodge and The Atlantic Ocean is accessible by public boat ramps in the area. A day trip either north or south offers lots of activities to do. The short trip across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel will have you arriving in Virginia Beach...the Norfolk Zoo is 41 miles from here! Virginia Beach offers the "OceanFront" where you can go to the beach, dine, and shop all within the same area.
North of us the the waterfront village of Onancock with a great shopping experience of small town shopping. You can also catch the ferry to Tangier Island to take a step back into time and visit a true "Waterman's Village" But be prepared to walk or rent a golf cart as there are no cars on Tangier Island.
Don't forget our local State Park: Kiptopeke! There is beachfront for a day in the sun. A fishing pier for your favorite fisherman. And a view of the "Concrete Ships" a marvel in themselves. There are lots of walking trails through out the park and lots of friendly faces to help you with any questions!
Fishing on the Eastern Shore is world-class so bring your boat, we have plenty of room to park it and your vehicle. If you need a list of local public boat ramps to launch from whether you want bayside fishing or seaside fishing we have that too. We have a designated fish cleaning station as well.
At the end of the day, come on in and relax in your apartment, with a very large kitchen with all the cooking implements you will need and lots of storage. A hot shower in the large bathrooms and a comfy bed await the end of your day.
It was good. Easy to access to beach, restaurants, grocery stc. building is a little old with small problems but is OK.
Mike could not have been more helpful. Clean place to take your dog (mine got sick and couldn’t come with me). Cape Charles is fun little beach town. Must have dinner at Oyster Farm!
I would not recommend this place to anyone. There is nothing cute or cozy about it. We did know from booking that it was very dated, but upon arrival we realized It was much worse than ever imagined and not kept up at all. Lighting was bad including a few burned out light bulbs. It was extremely dirty and smelly (ie: sticky floors, dirty sinks, tub, microwave to describe just a few). We had traveled 10 hours for our neices wedding and were stuck sleeping there for 2 nights. Luckily there was a washer/dryer and we washed the bedding and had brought our own pillows. We were so disgusted with the place that we decided to sleep a few hours after attending the wedding and head home at 4am.
We were there for a wedding at Mimosa Barn. Very convenient location. Mike was very responsive. About an hour prior to our arrival, I called to see what type of coffee maker was in the unit. It was a drip coffee maker. I said I had coffee but need filters. He said he would check to see if there were any there. When we arrived, the was a brand new pack. It was dated, but clean. If you have a boat/trailer there is plenty of space. Also plenty of grass and field for kids and only 2 miles/ 5 minutes to Cape Charles town and beach. Had a great weekend.
If you are looking for something close to the water without being in all the action this is the place for you. Great family friendly place to stay.
Stay was great and location couldn't be any better. There is a Food Lion, Dollar General, and liquor store right by the property. Cape Charles is a very short drive away. The place is old, but overall very clean. It could use some floor jacks in the crawl space to prevent the floor from squeaking, and some of the light bulbs were burn out. These were very minor items that didn't bother us at all. We hope to rent again soon!
Tv only had one channel and floors were very dirty but I bought mop and cleaned them up not a problem everyone there I spoke to was very nice
Check in was easy, owner is comfortable to communicate with ! Good experience ! Thank you !
We had a 2 day fishing trip planned. This room is about 7 minutes from the Oyster boat ramp, and 15 minutes from the Kiptopeke State Park ramp. We had apartment C. It was clean, and had all the basic furnishings. A nice hot shower, cold a/c, and a huge washer dryer combo were exactly what we needed after a long day on the water. The beds were comfortable enough and we slept fine. Food Lion is a minute away. We gave it 4 stars only because the floor had some unevenness and a few soft spots. I would not take a person in there that was not steady on their feet, but we (25 and 59) had no problems at all. We parked the boat right in front of the door and had an outlet to charge the trolling batteries. It does not claim to be a 5-star hotel and we were not expecting one, but it was perfect for our visit. We highly recommend it for fishing trips and look forward to returning again!
This is our 2nd year visiting this rental & unsatisfied but still was a great stay…last year was great to where we wanted to use this rental again but was not as satisfied. Down Fall About This Year.. house needs some repairs& updating…a few floor joist broken in kitchen were we could hear neighbors walking thru house at all hours (even in the night & I’m sure they could hear us),stove was not level due to the floor joist, kitchen was not stocked (1 drinking glass, tons of wine glasses, 3 forks, no pots , no salt or pepper, etc) they definitely needs to go thru a check list to make sure clients have what is listed, there were no towels out had to dig for them. Communication was non-existent like last year…last year when we had a question or concern he was there to help, this year I messaged and never got a response, tv was analog(not smart) & tv in bedroom didn’t work. Thank Goodness we brought an iPad to watch movies on. The plus side in which we gave the rating of 3 stars was the house was somewhere to sleep(even if bed was old & uncomfortable), the location was great and close to where we were visiting, house was clean, AC was comfortable.
This property is ideally located ms set up for groups bringing boats to fish the area. It’s easy access to ice, groceries and the cape Charles bait ramp. Host was fast to respond and the property is set up perfectly for multiple boats and trailers. The house itself is old and the floor is sunk in a few places. However, we rented for the location and keeping the boats, which this was perfect for - should note that everyone else staying on site was also there for fishing and with trailered boats as well. We will be back for future fishing trips.
Safe, clean, private area outside of all the hustle and bustle, but close enough to Cape Charles beach access! We stayed in apartment C-which was plenty big enough for the 5 of us. If you like historic locations, this lodge is cool! Isn’t some fancy ritzy place, so if that’s what you’re looking for, this ain’t it. But it is unique and rustic and perfect for a family like ours! We will definitely stay again.
Great experience all around! Check in was easy, check out was even easier. Had everything we needed for the week and loved that there was a washer and Dryer. The A/C worked great! Plenty of room for everyone.
Nothing fancy but very comfortable and great location. Had everything we needed for a two night stay.
The check in was fast & friendly and the location is perfect for privacy and close to wherever you need to go in Cape Charles. Great place to stay for a short visit & all the accommodations you'll need. Thank you for allowing us. Kim H.
